  1. Hard to stretch guys out after the minor league season is over...
  2. I doubt anyone is fired. Even if we have a miserable last 18 games and go 6-12 we still end up with 88 wins. I just don't see them cleaning house after an 88 Win year even if we miss the playoffs.
  3. I'm not seeing it, we'll still win more games than most people thought the team would and that will save his job unfortunately. Lets say we go 6-12 in the last 18 games, that is still 88 wins. I don't see them firing Yost after 88 wins. If we go 8-10 we are at 90 wins. Now if the team goes like 4-14 down the stretch and we end up with 86 wins maybe it could happen but I just don't think that is likely even with the tough schedule.
  4. Poor Gio Gonzalez... 250,000: Gary Sheffield (DET) off Gio Gonzalez (OAK). #249,999: Gary Sheffield (DET) off Gio Gonzalez (OAK), Sept. 8. #249,998: Magglio Ordonez (DET) off Gio Gonzalez (OAK) , Sept. 8.
  5. I'm still not paniced by how we have played in september, that is just baseball. I'm paniced by a 3 game lead with 4 games on the road against the primary competition though. I'm paniced that we might win more games than I expected this year and still miss the playoffs.
  6. I have absolutely no problem with the Riske signing just to make that clear from my post. He has been bad since the injury but to me that isn't anyones fault, guys get hurt and sometimes they dont' come back sharp. His stats were just fine before he got hurt so for my money it is obviously related to the injury. But at this point Yost has to realize he is not a good option and rearrange the bullpen accordingly.
  7. Then why is he still pitching in high leverage situations? Grrr.I dunno, why does Sabathia throw 130 pitches with an 8 run lead but only 105 with a 1 run lead. Why is Hall still our 3B against righties when he is hitting like .170 against them and is a mediocre fielder at best. I've given up on trying to understand Yost. The bullpen should probably be Torres, Villanueva/Shouse, Mota/Stetter, whatever disaster is left right now. The fact he keep sending Riske/Gagne out there ahead of those guys baffles me. (not that I am a big Mota fan, but I think he is better than the rest of the junk we have).
  8. I think this is the injury at play myself. His BB rate is way up over his norms. I also think he was doomed for regression to the mean since his peripherals didn't match his ERA last year. Before the injury he had 21 IP, 8 BB, 14 K, .711 OPS against. Yeah he had a 4.71 ERA but over 21 IP that is going to be very erratic, those are pretty good basic stats for a RP. After the injury he has 21.1 IP, 17 BB, 13 K, .981 OPS againstf or a 5.91 ERA. He has been a complete wreck since the injury
  9. Baseball is way too streaky for me to be worried about how we have played the last week. My biggest panic is that a 3-4 game lead is not really a very safe lead with 19 games to go especially when we have 6 games against the Cubs and 4 against the phillies. It is just as likely that we play well from tomorrow on now as it was a week ago, the last weeks struggles haven't really changed anything.
  10. I'm a much bigger Brewer fan than Packer fan, that has nothing to do with it. I've just watched/listened to something like 120 Brewer games this year and I've watched 0 packer games. I can still follow the Brewer game and cheer them on without watching it and I'll still be at the game in person on Tuesday.
  11. I'm a true Brewer fan and I'll be watching the Packers and switching to Brewers at commercials.
  12. Weeks has an .375 OBP and .801 OPS since the all star break so don't think you should put him in the automatic out category... just sayin.
  13. We could DFA Bill Hall and it wouldnt' upset me one bit though he still has some value in a platoon role only facing lefties.
  14. If the Brewers play .500 ball the rest of the year the Phillies need to go 15-6 (.714) to tie them.
  15. His ERA in the 2nd half is now better than his ERA in the 1st half for what it is worth.
  16. STL losing to ARI increased the odds that the NL West teams pass us by a small fraction, STL losing to Arizona did the same. Overall the fact that two other teams who we compete with for the wild card winning lowered our odds even though two teams we compete with loss.
  17. My bet is Gwynn starts in CF tomorrow.
  18. Sheets down to a 2.84 ERA, just imagine what he could do if he were actually an ace.
  19. Sadly I think preserving a shoutout or a CG is more important to Yost than not bringing in a RP with runners on in a close game since that 'isn't fair to the RP or the starter'. It just goes to show how obviously clueless he is when it comes to running a bullpen.
  20. I don't know about never pitching for the Brewers but he at the very least should be behind Torres, Shouse and CV on the totem pole and probably behind Mota as well at this point.
  21. What a horrible game but it still means our playoff odds went up 5%!
  22. If Hardy doesn't win this one my money is on losing the game. This is our shot.
  23. Even bad pitchers have clean innings like 1 time out of 3. Come on Riske get it done!
