  1. This isn't really correct though. The Pirates haven't had a winning season since 1992 as an example.
  2. Even if we lose CC next year we get draft picks that could end up being as good as LaPorta. The trade obviously wasn't a mistake, the results might end up being poor though.
  3. Torres should have been in for those ABs. You have the core of their lineup up with 2 runners on and you are facing two guys who hit lefties hard. There is no better time to use Torres. But since managers in general don't use their bullpen correctly most like CV should have been in.
  4. It is almost worth seeing us miss the playoffs just to see Yost fired. Just so clueless.
  5. Yep and I'm sure somebody said look out for the Rockies and the Y ankees during their last hot streaks and look where that got them. Sometimes 1% longshots happen and the Astros are in position to have a small chance to be that team, I'm really impressed.
  6. I think he is 100% correct, I don't even really like to take the kids to the game anymore because the fans are so darn negative.
  7. On the day Moyer made his debut here was the Brewers lineup. J. Gantner R. Yount C. Cooper B. Oglivie B. Robidoux E. Riles R. Deer D. Sveum R. Cerone Yount went 4/5 and the Brewers lost 9-2 to the Blue Jays with Bill Wegman going 5.2 IP with 6 ER.
  8. Yelling at people always makes them do better. Just last night my son couldn't figure out a math problem on his homework so I told my wife and other kids that he just stinks at homework lately and he had to step it up a notch and then instantly he was able to figure it out.
  9. Right now they have a Victorino and Burrell with a mostly Werth as the last spot. He kills lefties and is just ok vs righties. They do have Stairs who can play vs righties though.
  10. I'd say it hurts Hall and Fielder and Weeks and well most of the Brewers, heh. I'd assume it helps Hardy, Cameron, Hart, Kendall though.
  11. Sometimes teams just slump because they slump, there isn't some obscure elaborate and most likely complete BS reason for it. Sorry but this really seems to be stretching the limits of looking for an excuse for a poor stretch which is something every team has multiple times every year.
  12. VORP ignores defense so it is pretty dubious for position players. VORP per pitchers is based solely off of Rs so it is borderline useless.
  13. Gonna go outside the local angle and say that the strike zone krod got tonight in his 56th save was just shameful. I could probably save 57 games if they gave me that strike zone.
  14. This has nothing to do with the subject but I had no clue that his brother wrote the screenplays for Quiz Show, Disclosure, Sphere, Donnie Brasco and a few other films/series.
  15. I'll go against the grain and say we win 3 games as our offense explodes out of the slump.
  16. Yea his hitting has been better in the second half of the season, to bad though for Weeks and the Brewers, he also has to put on a glove and play defense. His play at second base in the second half of the year has been miserable. Between all the errors, muffed plays that were nearly errors, and a sickening amount of blown double plays, every time a ball is hit in his direction during a close game, the Brewer dugout has sweat it out in fear that Rickie will yet again turn an out/outs into baserunners. Regardless given his price, his upside etc I just don't see them making a change.
  17. I said this in the game thread but it looked like Hart stepped on 1st base funny in one of his ABs last night and then he just sort of stood there looking uncomfortable until Cameron brought him his glove to take the field. It wouldn't surprise me if he tweaked his ankle or something and wasn't available except in an emergency today. I don't really have an issue with Gwynn over the other OFs if Hart wasn't going to play.
  18. I think Weeks has had way too strong of a second half to not keep him for next year again. .247/.346/.439/.786 and without any peripherals that jump out fluke or anything like a high BABIP or something. People generally forget how young these guys are and that most ballplayers don't peak until 27-29. Add in lost time to injuries with Weeks and Hardy and I still think they are the 2B/SS next year and very well could be in 2010 as well.
  19. I was at the game last night and Hart hit 1B funny in one of his ABs and then was sort of walking around gingerly. I think he tweaked something enough that it is bothering him today. First thing that came to my mind when he was out of the lineup today.
  20. The team will win more games than it did last year, there isn't much to blame anything on. We lost a bunch of close games in a row and played poorly for 10 days, happens to almost every single team in baseball at least twice a year.
  21. That's one way to look at it. The other way you can look at it is check out their batting average with RISP. yes but every single thing I posted measures clutch better than just AVG with RISP so I won't sweat it much~. A single with the bases empty and 0 outs in a 1-2 game in the 9th is more clutch than a single in a 10-1 game with a runner on 2nd.
  22. It's a Tuesday night and people have to go to work in the morning, most likely. Not to mention it was a really long game. The first inning took 40 minutes. I left the game just after Suppan gave up the 2 run HR because my kids needed to go to bed and a lot of people were leaving with their kids as well. That is the problem with weeknight games with parents.
  23. Brewers have a .773 OPS in high leverage situations, .796 OPS in medium and .732 in low. They havea .797 OPS late and close and a .789 OPS in tie games with a .791 OPS in 1 run games and a a.792 OPS in 2 run games. Their overall OPS is .765. Being unclutch as a team is not really the case at all in my opinion.
  24. CV, Shouse, Mota already pitched, really not much left to complain about. I trust Gagne more than Riske at this point and the random callups are iffy as well.
