  1. I think Durham is a downgrade from Weeks defensively. The guy can't move at all out there.
  2. My opinion of Yost has been based on the last 3 years worth of managment so I don't think I could judge some new guy in 12 games. I don't really think Sveum will have the job next year but maybe I'm wrong. I have no specific issues with what Sveum did last night. I think CV probably could have faced Ward but I don't absolutely hate the move either. Shouse vs Blanco results in 0 or 1 runs most likely. CV vs Ward could easily end up in 3 runs since CV gives up a lot of HRs and Ward still has good pop. I doubt either matchup is a solid win vs the other considering how much better Ward is than Blanco.
  3. Hart Hardy Braun Fielder Cameron Weeks 3B C P
  4. Yep as usual all this talk about Ben stepping up to prove he is an ace is nonsense. CC has got fat off easy teams all year and then struggles in his only two 'big games' and nobody says a thing, Sheets has a rough game against a big team and he is proving he isn't an ace again. Just don't understand it one bit.
  5. I still think Durham against most righties, especially those with good off speed stuff and Weeks vs Lefties makes the most sense.
  6. I suppose 3 HR is too much to hope for?
  7. Hart, Cameron, Braun are all swinging at complete junk lately.
  8. It led off the news so it is over already if anyone was watching for it.
  9. That is one way to set up the double play I guess~
  10. I'd say Camerons speed gives marginal value ahead of Dempster for stolen bases and just general baserunning. Durham batting left handed with Cameron on first base is a marginal value as well. So overall I'd agree that Cameron ahead of Durham is the right choice. I think the difference is something under 10 runs per year though so I it is pretty marginal overall.
  11. I'd say Weeks is the best option for leadoff but if he isn't in the next best is probably Hart or Cameron. No big issues with this. The fact he strikes out a lot probably helps too, I know people always say you can't have a high K guy leading off but that is exactly the time that a K hurts you the least so I have never agreed with it. You want a high OBP guy, the actual strike out rates don't matter much. For 3B I think all the options pretty much stink against righties. At least Counsell makes the plays defensively I guess.
  12. What did he do to improve the bullpen. Traded for Torres - Good move Traded for Mota - ok move as a backend bullpen guy, certainly more valuable than estrada Signed Riske - Good move, just Riske got hurt. You can't blame injuries on the GM Signed Gagne - Bad move I fail to see how he didn't address the bullpen myself. For all the complaints about the bullpen they have been average or better on the year.
  13. Riske was fine before the injury so I hope it gets cleaned up and he comes back strong next year because we could sure use another dependable arm in that bullpen.
  14. Yep I agree. More Durham vs RHP More Rivera against RHP Less Hall vs RHP, don't care who gets the starts even Less Gwynn as PH More Villanueva in high leverage innings Less Shouse vs RHB
  15. It certainly seems like it was Mark's choice more than Doug's. Doesn't matter to me, Yost is a bad manager so getting rid of him isn't a bad thing.
  16. I dunno, sticking with a manager who is clearly incompetent seems more like quitting than making a move does.
  17. Might not mean we make the playoffs this season but I think I'm happy enough that Yost is gone that I'll pee my pants anyway.
  18. Because I don't believe in judging these things the way you are. If we trade Mota for Johan Santana we got a great deal. If Santana blows out his elbow with his first pitch and retires and Mota posts a few 4.50 ERA seasons in the bullpen we still got a great deal, even if in retrospect it didn't work out. I can see calling it a risky move to trade LaPorta since there was a chance we would miss the playoffs and regret it, but I just don't see it as a bad move. Especially since I think LaPorta is overrated a bit by Brewer fans.
  19. BPro has our playoff odds up 10% with the news!
  20. Yes but in the few winnable games in that stretch Yost has blown them with poor managing. I would think the sequence of ABs that led to Shouse IBB Howard and then pitching to Burrell was the final straw. You cannot have faith in a manager that could make that large of a blunder.
  21. Is Jack Z even qualified? I mean just because he is good at his job right now doesn't mean he would make a good GM. I don't know the answer to my own question, just curious.
  22. I am very happy for this even if I doubt it makes one bit of difference in our playoff odds. I've seen Yost leave in guys like Shouse to face Burrell like last night one too many times now and I want a manger who understands how to use a bullpen. Unfortunately this is about a year too late and he probably already cost us his 2-3 games from being a bad manager at this point.
  23. My wife just told me Yost was fired today, but she couldn't go into details. Anyone else hearing anything?
