  1. The gameday sure looks a lot like the Cardinals series. Soft liner after soft liner and suddenly 4 runs scored.
  2. I get the feeling Yost is going to be looking for work at the end of the season if not sooner. This team has completely fallen apart.
  3. I will be too pissed for words if we blow out Gallardo's arm to try to eek out a playoff spot where we will likely lose in the 1st series. The Brewer's playoff window is just opening probably next season, why on earth risk your young studs arm now. It makes no sense to me for them to be so short sighted.
  4. I agree but the way most of the rotation has pitched this year I'll take my chances with a rusty sheet instead of a soupcan, a cap or a bush.
  5. 275 IP back then is like 200 IP now though, hitters go deeper into counts and pitchers cannot afford to just pitch to contact because hitters are just better in general. Gallardo/Parra could very well go 200 IP and be just fine but studies have shown a strong correlation between large jumps in IP and injuries so why on earth would we take the chance. It would just be foolish to ignore the facts. For every Blyleven there is an Eldred who burned out his arm and was never the same because of his big jump in usage.
  6. I cannot imagine a scenario where he isn't a Brewer through his entire contract.
  7. The number of losses has no more importance than number of wins and anyone that tells you otherwise is being silly. You can't just assume a team will win out or lose out, the safest bet is to assume they go .500 out over a small sample of games. If you are 1 game out of 1st you are 1 game out 1st and wins or losses matters not at all.
  8. I wanted 175 IP or so out of Ben. 200 IP would have blown his shoulder up next year most likely, so for me the injury was a blessing in surprise assuming he comes back from it soon. A non arm related injury that lets them not overuse his shoulder is just what the doctor ordered.
  9. He only seems to pitch when the rest of the bullpen is burned out and lately our bullpen has been pretty rested with all the days off.
  10. It was actually Wed that they mentioned it, when he ran around the bases on that HR and was limping. Last night I'm not sure what they said.
  11. They mentioned it on baseball tonight including the part about feeling numb.
  12. Its called having a clue about how to run a baseball team. The Tigers shut Verlander down for part of last year too even though they were in a pennant chase. Getting Gallardo injured to try to win 1 or 2 more games this year simply is not worth it.
  13. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=4209 it's not particularily up to date though.
  14. So he's going to throw from the bullpen a couple times and then probably go right back to the rotation when Sheets comes back and Gallardo is near his innings limit. Thats my take on the move at least.
  15. The team's expected record in Sheets starts is 11-8. Assuming he had 26 starts like Suppan that would be 4-3 over those 7 starts. Assuming he replaced our worst pitcher (Capuano 10-13) who would be 3-4 over 7 starts. Sheets getting hurt probably cost us 1 win, maybe 2 if you count the extra bullpen work, that might reach 3 games if the blister delays his comeback. Don't see how you can say he cost us the season though if we just barely miss the playoffs his injury most certainly plays a role in it.
  16. Hall has always been a pretty streaky hitter, one hot month here and his stats end up around 2005 levels which is probably his true talent level.
  17. Yeah that was why I was asking. I don't recall him having problems in previous years but thats at least twice he's had blister issues this season. Just curious if it had happened before and I'm not remembering it or if maybe something has changed in his delivery that is causing the problems.
  18. I don't recall Sheets ever having blister issues in his past, did he change his grip on his curve or something this year?
  19. Next time we blow an 8-0 lead I know who to blame.
  20. That 0-16 inclues 7 IP, 2 ER 7 IP, 2 ER 7 IP, 2 ER 8 IP, 1 ER It also includes a start he left with an injury. The whole 0-16 in his last 16 starts things is silly, he's had a poor year but at least key in on things that he can control. Complain about how he has pitched over that stretch sure, but the streak is meaningless. In July he had a 5.45 ERA and .771 OPS against which isn't that great(though the ERA was LOB% driven with that OPS), in August he's been better than our team ERA/OPS so hard to fault him more than anyone else.
  21. He's just sort of the back of the rotation guy. Maybe not the best role for him but it does get him some major league innings under his belt without pushing him over his 150 IP limit. I don't really feel we are choosing RP's based on Parra being on the team. Yost tried to stay with linebrink today as a way to try to limit his top end RPs' innings, not Parra's. He stuck with Capuano to try to make him prove he belongs in the rotation which can be seen by the fact he let him go back out in the 7th when he really shouldn't have. We had other RP's available there so Parra wasn't the limiting factor I don't think.
  22. Capuano's ERA and OPS against this month are better than the team's totals. I just think he's sort of the scape goat right now. The pitching stinks, from top to bottom it stinks right now.
  23. Its kind of sad that our best pitching for the year was July but between the offense all struggling and the bullpen blowing a few leads we ended up with a bad record. Now the hitting is turning around and the pitching is completely useless.
  24. I dunno but if there is one pitcher on the team who has been worse than Capuano recently its Villanueva and the reason would seem to be he's worn down from overuse, so I don't really see the move making much sense. At this point I think you leave Capuano out there and pray he turns it around, if he's shown one thing in his career its that his month to month stats are all over the place.
  25. Yeah its hard to feel good about the pitching right now. Every single pitcher on the team scares me when they come in and thats not a good thing. Linebrink is probably the one I trusted the most lately which is why it didn't bother me that much that he hit for himself. We have a 7.00 ERA for the month before today and a .924 OPS against, that is a complete meltdown. We have given up 32 HR's in the past 17 games now, yuck.
