  1. Well that makes Weeks getting nailed at 3rd a lot less painful. I love Braun.
  2. I don't know if I'd say crap. He has a 3.03 ERA even though it probably should be more like 3.50. He has a very strong GB%, doesn't walk all that many and his K's are hovering near 6 per 9 IP. His BABIP is .331 which probably means he's been a bit unlucky with hits. Spurling has been a solid end of bullpen pitcher.
  3. Yes an eventually it will end, just like the Red Sox, the Brewers and the Mets did when they were the hottest teams in baseball. The Cubs do not have a great team either, other than Soriano, Lee, Ramirez that lineup might not have another guy with an OPS over .800 at the end of the year. The rotation has out produced expectations across the board pretty much and could easily jump 0.50 points in ERA the rest of the way. The Cubs are hot but they are playing way over their heads, just like the Brewers were when they got off to a 24-10 start. Sometimes all the balls drop your way for a month and that is exactly what is going on. What we have to hope for is that it ends sooner rather than later.
  4. You have been posting basically this same thing since May now, we get it, you think the Brewers will collapse.
  5. If the Cubs continue to play .800 ball like they have over the past 24 games I will gaurentee they pass the Brewers, there just is nothing you can do about the streak they are on.
  6. You obviously overrated lincecum and Zito. We are no more likely to be swept this series than any other series we have played this season, Zito stinks and Lincecum is erratic.
  7. Complain all you want about the bullpen usage because to be honest its questionable but to be fair CV threw a good pitch to that last batter and he just barely blooped a hit. That is the type of hit which is just luck, they got the luck and it fell in.
  8. Yeah it has been frustrating watching the Cubs lately. Seems the other team makes 2-3 errors a game against them and every little flair hit finds a hole. Thats usually what makes up big winning streaks though, at some point the luck turns and they start to lose a lot of these close games again instead of winning almost every one.
  9. I don't think Nelson is very good but I think he shows potential to be ok in the future. Ann was just horrible in general.
  10. I'm willing to bet its a combination of factors, his worst slump happened while his back hurt. Even if pitchers didn't know how to throw to him he hit way too well for that to be the excuse, he just had a really hot april. While I'm sure pitchers have adjusted to him, he's not driving fast balls that he does get either so I think he's just been slumping lately. I doubt its just they adjusted to him and thats it, before the adjustment he's a .950 OPS SS and after he's a .650 OPS. That is just too extreme. Its a little bit of each factor.
  11. I was watching some non baseball tonight show and they said the Brewers would be sellers this trade deadline... the media is just messed up in general.
  12. We already got Suppan as our overrated vet on the staff, Morris isnt' any better than Suppan so why do we need him. He'd be our 6th or 7th best starter.
  13. Otsuka left a game with an injury right before the Gwynn for Otsuka rumors happened so If that trade was for real, the injury was most certainly why it didn't happen.
  14. Maybe they heard the rumor and were running to the clubhouse to see if it was true...
  15. Braun and fielder are the only two starters on the team that have been hitting well lately, so not like its much more of a forfeit than any other lineup.
  16. It was kids under 12 win a Rickie Weeks baseball card if he hits a HR night last night, relatively sure thats why he started.
  17. Turnbow and Cordero have pitched a lot lately that is probably why. Turnbow had pitched 3 of the last 4 games, Cordero pitched the last 4 games. Wise was the obvious choice as he had pitched 1 time in the past week+.
  18. He certainly has the potential to do it. Notice I didn't say he would or was a lock to, but I don't think we'll trade for a pitcher with the potential to do it and Gallardo is the only pitcher on the team with that potential. Like I said, in a big park. Stick him in another park and his stats regress towards a 4.00 ERA. Here are his FIP's in his full seasons, 4.16, 3.17, 4.36, 5.00. His actual ERA's have been 4.02, 2.63, 3.87 and 4.81 in his full seasons. Willis is simply not an ace, he's Capuano playing in a big time pitchers park.
  19. And its not like Willis is anywhere near as good as Sheets anyway, he's a 4 ERA guy in a big park. I dunno, Sheets getting hurt sucks but he doesn't bother me as much as it probably should. Its not related to his shoulder or back so I expect him to come back fine and it may even help him a bit to not get so many innings on his arm this year. The only pitcher I think we'll get that can match his numbers is Gallardo personally.
  20. Yost isn't pulling him any sooner than before, his LOB% has just regressed towards the mean like expected and his BABIP dropped like we knew it would.
  21. oh I don't think he has played well this season or anything homer, I'm just saying that it seems some people are getting hung up on the AVG. When looking at his career so far there have been a lot of positives to his play with the big negative being the wrist problem. Weeks right now is not really like Weeks from last year or from April of this year and I think its at least partially physical.
  22. truffle is usually pretty knowledgeble. A large portion of their posters are pretty good actually, the board just isn't moderated anywhere close to as good as this board is so they get a lot of the more bandwagon types posting nonsense. Tonight their game thread was great with all the rips on sutcliffe who is an idiot.
  23. Following the double the fans throw trash in the field to celebrate and the game is momentarily stopped... classy.
  24. Fielders ball is a HR in the metrodome!
