  1. Geovany Soto is hitting .286/.398/.519 on the year. His .917 OPS is a team best (by .060 points), but 227 of his 262 ABs this season have come from the 7 or 8 hole. Fun to scoreboard watch the 2010 Cubs, but Lou, you're hurting my fantasy team!
  2. Since most agree that Prince will be traded this off-season would a 3-team trade make some sense here? Brewers get Greinke while keeping the farm system in tact, Team X gets Prince, and the Royals get prospects.
  3. Right you are. Didn't know catchers could have pickoffs too. You rarely see them throw over to first (Yadi seems to love doing it though).
  4. I have a scoring question and didn't want to start a new thread. This looks like a good spot to stick it, What is the scoring if an out is made on a snap throw to first base from the catcher? Since the out is made at first base it doesn't seem like a "caught stealing". And since the throw wasn't from the pitcher, it doesn't seem like a "pickoff". So, what's the official scoring?
  5. I'd rather just keep McGehee and Teahen out of that trade, but it seems about right. Cowley is on The Score right now: "Something major from what I've been told" He has no idea what players are involved though. "I think the Jackson/Hudson trade still happens" "I think its someone not on the radar. Not the usual suspects - Dunn, Berkman." Cowley seems pretty clueless on what might be going on.
  6. Joe Cowley (Sun Times) last 3 tweets: Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off. If I had names I would report them. All I've been told is it's big. Also been told that the chance of Hudson starting tonight is almost zero Jackson-Hudson deal is not off, it's just being delayed while KW tries to shock the world. Hudson for Jackson might still happen either way. Kenny Williams loves to make trades. Just speculation on my part, but maybe Prince is his target?
  7. Yeah, I should have thought of this. I called them this AM and they waived it immediately. Problem solved! Thanks for all the great info, all!
  8. You can't fit him into a corner infielder or utility slot (assuming he has 1B eligibility)? Do you have room on your bench to let VMart sit until he hits (might take him a while to shake the rust off)? Can you keep him on the DL for a while until you figure out what to do with him? I'd hesitate dropping either. Especially if this is a keeper league and Santana could be kept on the cheap.
  9. I have a credit card that I never use anymore. I got this card when I turned 18 (26 now) and don't use it anymore because my other card has reward points and this one does not. The card has 1 yearly auto-pay on it (MLBTV) otherwise it just gets stored away in my wallet. Well, I just got a letter the other day that the bank is going to start charging a $20 annual fee for the card. Since I never use the card I'd much rather just cancel it than pay the $20 annual fee. However, I've heard that canceling a credit card will hurt your credit score (due to debt to available credit ratios). Is this true? I could open up another card with better reward points and no annual fee to increase my available credit as well. Suggestions?
  10. Interesting that it's not considered in bad taste for a non-goalie to intentionally punch the ball out of the goal. That's like a third baseman tripping a would-be scorer as he's rounding that base.
  11. Couldn't this turn any person into a broker themselves? I could reserve a couple tickets for the Texas Rangers playoff game 1 (their playoff odds are over 80% at this point) and stand to make a pretty good profit reselling them. Or am I overestimating the Rangers fan base?
  12. It was Braun got hurt, so Bill Hall filled in for him, but then he got hurt so McGehee got his chance and I think he worked Rickie Weeks in there somehow too. And apparently Randy Woof is pitching tonight (sounds kinda cool actually).
  13. Everybody's talkin' at me...I can't hear a word they're sayin'...just drivin' around in Manny Parra's car...
  14. But he was an all-star in 2008! April 21st is the day he's eligible to come off the DL, so this really doesn't hurt the team. He could still pitch in 2010 theoretically I guess.
  15. Since Volquez is on the 60 day DL, what would stop the Reds from activating before he's healthy so that his suspension would be up by the time he's fully healthy?
  16. Will Carroll has been tweeting about this a lot in the last few hours and has a small blurb up on BP. Link Edit: Updated thread title --cc
  17. Maybe he was really nervous. I'm watching via MLB TV and they forgot to cut the broadcast at commercial and I heard Rock ask Craig if he was OK. He said "yeah" and Rock said "good". Kinda funny.
  18. Is Manny only going to be used in garbage clean up time when we are down by a dozen runs or so. Seriously strange.
  19. Haha, and the Titanic had a good ride. Excpet for when it hit that iceberg. How appropriate! Today is the 98th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
  20. How easy is it to like Casey McGehee? Great work there.
  21. It was the auto pink on the side of the color grid, but it was more fuschia. This is pretty pink.
  22. Cubs lineup: Theriot SS Fukedome RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Colvin LF Byrd CF Fontenot 2B Soto C Zambrano P
  23. I don't know if Lee was unavailable, but I heard on the radio that the Cubs trainer didn't want Lee taking batting practice or doing any team drills at all today. So, there is at least a chance that he would have been unavailable.
