  1. From dead weight to trade bait: the Rhys Hoskins story.
  2. I know situations are situational but again, that run is kind of on Bauers being unselfish. He takes the free base bunt that is offered to him, which ultimately clears Capra in the inning and gets Contreras a 2 out opportunity in the next inning that he cashes in on. *Edit* Yeli bomb. 3 runs that are *kind of* because of good non box score baseball by Jake Bauers.
  3. Yeah, Capra -> Mona should happen 30 seconds after the game. Let Capra get regular at bats and start seeing the ball again in Nashville.
  4. That bunt attempt by that type of player should happen 80% more than it does in baseball. If you are a LHB and you aren't tearing the cover off the baseball and they give you first base with their defense ... take it every time. Good job Bauers.
  5. MLB player development and major league roster manipulation will forever fascinate me because it is such an imperfect science that few to none master. It is an awesome conversation because I am not sure it has a correct answer. Is the purpose of minor league development to get all of the guys to the big leagues or is it actually to just get them to a place where they become coveted enough to be tradeable? With the flame out rate so high each time guys graduate each level... is it always or almost always worth trading excess value from the minors to get major league experience? Would you rather take a chance on a young major league player who hasn't figured it out at the MLB level but has the tools vs a rising MiLB player who is outperforming his projection? I don't want to make this a novel ... but there is so much more. It's one of my favorite conversations around baseball.
  6. I know this sounds easy to say after the fact... but when I heard Alexander was starting my first thought was "oh dang, I hope Priester didn't get whatever bug is going around.." and then immediately thought "no, Murphy is probably trying to do the Counsell thing and start a lefty so the Cubs load up on RHB and then switch to Priester after an inning or something stupid like that.." I think Murphy out thought himself a bit.
  7. I am just getting here and have no desire to go back and read through the game thread so if this was mentioned I apologize AND THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR ANYBODY but I don't love the "opener" thing if you have a starter planned to come in after. If it's a bullpen game, then fine. Those guys do that. But let the starter have his routine. I know, I know. Just saying..
  8. Oh sorry, I was referring to the 19 innings he had pitched with Milwaukee up until that point.
  9. I know this is in blue but yes. For the sanity of this forum, this is the most important game of the first half for us. I can't imagine the bellowing if he goes 6+ scoreless tonight :(
  10. We are done with Priester after 19 innings? Dang, tough crowd.
  11. I've lost track of how many MLB stadiums this is thus far.. I need to go back and count.
  12. The first step of the Jeremy Jeffress arc for Devin Williams has now been completed.
  13. Webb is fun to watch. His stuff moves so much and he looks like a bulldog out there.
  14. He needs to chill otherwise we will be looking at 2b contract comps and trying to buy out his remaining years before the '26 season. Turang is earning a hefty pay raise through these first few weeks.
  15. Golly, this made me wince. Great grab, but don't do that again young man.
  16. What the heck, why not? If we lose Capra we still have Mona in 3A who is the same player. Gage only had 17 at bats this year? I feel like Bauers never sees the field and he has 24. 6'4 and his power could play in MKE ... heck go get the kid. It would be nice to have another lefty option that can cover short if need be to spell Joey and not move Brice.
  17. I'm watching the A's/Rangers on MLB Tv and Dallas Braden is one of the A's TV guys and he is absolutely unbearable to listen to. Felt like I needed to say that.
  18. I love that puzzle part of it. The Brewers need a "fan suggestion" email box. If I knew I could help the team by reading scouting reports of D3 submarine arms in Vancouver .. I would probably do it.
  19. love throwing the graphic up right before the pitch. well done bally.
  20. ...and at the price he is commanding. Would I rather have Frankie Montas at $17 or Q at $4 ... it is crazy.
  21. Man that hand guard Chourio wears has to be annoying...
