I also get the feeling that the Brewers value Aoki much higher than we are, and he will be kept.

Starting to feel a little optimism for 2014

When are the winter meetings and gm meetings? -
Who besides Ike Davis might be available via trade?
-
At least they gave Delfino a 2 year deal w/ an option for the third year. Wow, what an incompetent franchise. It's not like they didn't know he was coming off a major surgery.
-
Thanks JB, you're always so helpful. I realize he was in the majors for part of last season, but he did also have 400 minor league PA last season. This is what I was referring to.
-
It was upsetting to see Wolters on the bench vs. the Cavs while they made their run. It seemed so obvious that they needed a ball handler on the floor. Not sure what LD was thinking?
-
With Corey Hart a FA, and Gamel gone, first base is our biggest position of need. We have Hunter Morris, Jason Rogers and Sean Halton in the minors, but I'm not sure any of them are going to be everyday players. What would you do? Some of the FA's available are: Paul Konerko (38) James Loney (30) Kendrys Morales (30) Justin Morneau (33) Mike Napoli (32) Mark Reynolds (30) Kevin Youkilis (35)

There are some interesting names that I saw. Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Andrew Clark and Deolis Guerra.
-
I hope Ridnour, Butler, Udoh, and possibly Ersan are traded for young players and draft picks. I'd like Knight, Wolters, Mayo, Giannis, Middleton, Henson and Sanders to get the majority of the minutes. Let Zaza, Neal and Delfino do the mentoring if need be.

Haniger has cooled off a bit since his hot start but overall looks good to me. He took advantage of a 3rd baseman playing way off the line by lacing one over the bag. Overall good plate selection. I think when he bulks up a little more...you may see more power from him. Cravy looked great as did Shackleford. Cravy was pounding the strike zone 25 pitches, 21 for strikes. So far the Brewers are representing the AFL pretty well. The Orioles have a couple players that stood out. Good to hear. It's refreshing to hear about guys not considered top prospects in the Brewers organization (besides Haniger) looking so good. It makes me think that our system is not as terrible as some people say.

I'm always excited to watch, but I think the east has improved a lot since last season. The Wizards, Cavs, Bobcats are no longer terrible, and the Bulls, Pacers and Nets are much improved. I think it's going to be hard to make the playoffs. I think we'll finish as the 10th seed in the east.
-
I'd like to buy low on Josh Johnson or Scott Baker. They have both shown ability to be top of the rotation pitchers.
-
Thanks for the first hand report dacbrewers. How did Haniger and Cravy look?
-
I think they only eastern teams that are pretty much guaranteed to be worse than us are Boston, Philly and Orlando. And we are a couple injuries away from being on the same level as them. In the west, I expect Phoenix and Sacramento to be worse than us, but that's about it. I really hope Giannis, Knight and Henson are given a ton of minutes this season.
-
The Bulls were without Noah, Butler and Hinrich. The Bucks were only missing Mayo, Ersan, Delfino and Udoh. I'd say that is an even tradeoff. I'm fairly certain they are going to be really bad this season, and I'm more than ok w/ that. I just hope Hammond gets fired because of it, unless it was actually his goal to tank.
-
I watched the first half last night, and was appalled at how bad they look. Unless someone like Mayo, Knight or Henson break out, they could easily be one of the worst teams in the league.
-
If we do keep Ramirez, we need a very solid guy who can fill in at 3b/1b.
-
Didn't you read the article that the Brewers are going to try out a new batting stance for the last week of the season? I can just see him getting hot for a couple of games, and then fooling the Brewers into thinking they should start him next season. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/brewers-school-juan-francisco-on-his-swing-b99104778z1-224965222.html

It's hard to give Melvin a pass on his plan for 1b. He knew that Gamel, Hart and Green were all hurt before the season, and he decided to go w/ an Alex Gonzalez/Yuni B. tandem for at least the first month of the season.
-
I'd like to see Lohse traded after his strong season, if we could get a decent prospect back. I'd then go Gallardo, Peralta, Estrada, Thornburg and Nelson.
-
So is Michael Ratterree a legit prospect, or just a four year college guy that is playing against guys younger than him? I'd like to hear from some the Helena fans.

Scooter Gennett led the Major Leagues in AVG for August
yoshii8 replied to The stache's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I'm down w/ giving Scooter the everyday job next season. However, we need to figure out what to do w/ Weeks. Has he completely lost all value? I can't believe that someone wouldn't take him on, he's had some pretty nice seasons. -
I hope Jason Rogers is rewarded for his great season w/ a September call up, and addition to the 40 man roster. . There are several guys they could just DFA like Blake Lalli or Yuni. I'd like to see how'd he do facing MLB pitchers. I think he could be a potential 1B platoon option next season vs. LHP's.
-
With Aram looking pretty good, and hitting home runs on back to back days, I think he'll probably start generating some interest around the league.

Ramirez activated Gindl to Nashville
yoshii8 replied to markedman5's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Come on Aramis, stay healthy and play well for a week or two so we can get something for you.
