  1. Jose Dariel Abreu just defected from Cuba, and apparently is set to become an UFA. Would he be a guy worth paying big money for?
  2. I agree, and we have plenty of sweeteners if needed w/ Axford, Aoki, Gonzalez, Lohse to include to get a top prospect.
  3. I really hope we continue to build our farm system before the trade deadline, and after w/ Aramis. If it were up to me I would trade Axford, Weeks, Lohse, Aoki, Ramirez and Gonzalez for whatever prospects we can get. I think you'd be able to get a fairly large return for this group, and you'd save a ton of money in future salaries. We'll still draw a decent crowd w/ the nucleus of Braun, Segura, Gomez, Lucroy, Gallardo, Peralta and Henderson. The Brewers will not lose enough fans to offset the cost savings of getting rid of those large contracts. With the savings we'd also be able to get in on some big time international free agents.
  4. From what I read, he seems like a prospect w/ huge potential. Got paid like a mid 1st rounder when drafted. I'm excited about some of the bats in the system w/ Coulter, Roache, Tyrone Taylor, and now Delmonico. You have some potential big time hitters. Great job as usual Mr. Melvin. Below is a link to a very detailed scouting report w/ video. http://baseballnewshound.com/?p=4329
  5. I think this was a big off-season for them, and so far they've made a bunch of lateral moves. It'd be pretty disappointing if this was there plan w/ all the open cap space.
  6. July 26th K-Rod Tigers
  7. I think DM is just more tight lipped about trades he's discussing. Also, the Brewers aren't as big of a news story as the Cubs. I'm guessing he's plenty available.
  8. i think in general if the bucks are going to get a good FA they need to pay more and longer than say the lakers. Right, which is why they should look to build through the trade market and the draft. Drew Gooden is or never was a good free agent.
  9. I agree, I'm absolutely shocked that he was extended last season. It's a pretty sad list of transactions since he's taken over 6 years ago. I feel like the media keeps using the bad contracts given out by Larry Harris as an excuse for the futility. I mean, I like Zaza, Delfino and Ridnour, but what exactly does he think that's going to do for us?
  10. I can't believe they signed Drew Gooden to a 5 year contract, that is amazing. It was the deadline to amnesty players, and it will give them more flexibility at the deadline. They might bring in a big contract, but they don't have to, his contract will still count against the league minimum.
  11. I watched Jones play the first game, his game eerily reminded me of Corey Maggete. He's a bull, but also has severe tunnel vision. I wasn't a big fan.
  12. @yoshii8
  13. Why is that fondy? Teague and Mayo are both more efficient players than Jennings and Ellis. Also, Delfino brings a lot more offense than LRMAM.
  14. Yes, basically 2nd round picks are worthless in most drafts. The throw them around like ptbnl or future considerations in mlb.
  15. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't try to unload Weeks, Ramirez, Lohse, Aoki, Axford, and K-Rod this off-season. I think I would keep Gallardo since he's locked up for two more seasons, and his value is down right now. I think w/ all of the young pitchers at AA and AAA next season is the perfect time to do a partial rebuild and go into next season w/ all youngsters in the rotation. Between, Peralta, Hellweg, Nelson, Thornburg, Burgos, Pena and Jungmann I think it could work well.
  16. What about targeting Chris Owings and Matt Davidson? Then we can go into next year w/ an infield of Hunter Morris/Hart/FA, Owings, Segura and Davidson? That is a nice young cost controlled infield.
  17. The Bucks are looking at veteran guards to fill a whole if they trade Jennings. Mo Williams is someone that comes to mind that I believe the Bucks would target to play either PG or SG. Hopefully this means they are out of the J.R. Smith and Chris Copeland talks. The Bucks could also trade Ersan for a late 1st round pick and take Hardaway Jr. Now that would be completely tanking for next year! It also looks like Giannis Antetokounmpo will be playing for the Bucks as they have no plans to keep him over seas. http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2013/06/draft-updates-raptors-bucks-mavs-cavs.html I think it's fairly safe to say that Mo Williams will not be back with the Bucks. Not sure what to think about the draft last night. I really like Wolters, and was hoping the Bucks would take him, but do not know enough about Giannis to make a judgment. Hopefully he ends up becoming the player some are projecting him to be.
  18. No one in this draft has star potential written all over them. Much less a guy like Franklin. His name is Jamaal Franklin, but yes I agree, I think he's going to be a good one.
  19. Yes, he should be called up. It's really a no brainer, in my opinion.
  20. Great effort vs. Panama. The Bradley, Cameron center midfield played very well together. I thought Cameron was much more effective than Jermaine Jones in that spot. I also liked the Altidore, Johnson front line, it will look even better when Dempsey plays well. I haven't seen them ping the ball like around like that in a very long time. It was fun to watch.
  21. I'd like to see Ed Sedar given a chance to manage if Roenicke is let go. It seems like he has a ton of respect from the players.
  22. Not only that, but Beno Udrih and Redick are pretty comparable players, and we also gave up Doron Lamb, who is also a very promising player.
  23. I hope not, I'd be very sad to see the Bucks leave Milwaukee. I really hope that someone steps up like Attanasio did w/ the Brewers and turns around this franchise. The way it's being run right now, from the in game entertainment to the roster management, is a complete joke. If things don't start to change in the near future, I have a feeling that they will be gone.
  24. I've been a huge Bayern fan since I was really young, it was my first jersey I got when I was about 4 years old. Hopefully they finally win it, and aren't considered the Buffalo Bills of the CL. Very happy to have Gotze w/ us next season, although I agree the timing couldn't have been worse. I think Bayern is unstoppable right now, this is the best I've ever seen them play. Nice to see the Bundesliga finally getting the respect it deserves.
  25. Wow, big night for Hunter Morris! If he has a torrid start to the season, how long before we bring him up to replace the Gonzalez/Yuni tandem? Also, the Rattlers are going to be very fun to follow this season. Looking forward to hopefully dragging the family out to see a few games this season.
