  1. This is where I'm having a hard time seeing the Brewers trading Hader. You really have to find a team that has very good, young spare MLB parts or high end advanced prospects or you're making a volume prospect deal like you we're rebuilding. I think there are teams that could meet that but the Yankees aren't one (without a 3rd team being involved).
  2. Yeah, I fail to see how the Yankees make sense. I just can't see it. They don't have pieces to give a competing team that won't take away from their roster. Maybe it could work with a 3rd team involved.
  3. I like it. Smoak is marginally better than Thames and is passable v. lhp, where Thames really isn't.
  4. I think this very well could be the case. As long as they use that do their advantage and put those resources into position player then I think it makes sense. There's still alot of time left in the off-season. I know this is a fan site so I get the over-analysis of things but I fail to see any real good or bad with this signing at this point. Anderson's results were positive last season regardless of peripherals. It's also conceivable Houser, Burnes and Peralta make some positive adjustments and one or more become last year's Woodruff. Woodruff Houser Peralta Lauer\Anderson Burnes.... isn't awful if you dream a bit on potential and what they'v flashed over the last couple seasons
  5. I tend to agree here. I'd be willing to build from Lux or May if they're really intent on trading Hader. I mean Lux is kind of their version of Hiura; name the relievers that you'd be willing to trade Hiura for. I'd try for something like Lux+Beaty+. I also wouldn't include Urias in a deal.
  6. If there's anything DS has proven to appreciate it's versitility. If you can field SS at the mlb level, you can in theory play any one of 3 infield positions. I think Didi could fit fine at 3B as well. It probably says more about Arcia's future than anything, imo. I think the final price for Gregorious will price him out of the Brewers range but I like the interest.
  7. IMO, Carter Kieboom would be an outstanding return for Josh Hader, but I am not sure the Nationals would be into it. I would be really disappointed if the Brewers took that Astros proposal (RHP Josh James and 3B Abraham Toro). It’s funny to see the voting between the two proposals is 50% to 50%. I am guessing a lot of Astros and Nationals fans are voting for the second one. Kieboom is a solid prospect, but he's still a prospect. If the Nationals want Hader, there better be more than Kieboom coming back, IMO. Put a package together centered around Kieboom and Fedde though, and I'm listening. Agreed on Kieboom +. Kieboom straight up would be the kind of return I'd expect with 1.5 years of control left on Hader. If they're really considering trading him there's got to be something coming back with a successful (even short) MLB track record and\ or multiple high end prospects to make up for the risk. For a franchise that has such a horrid time developing pitching it would be awful to lose Hader for anything less then a franchise altering type trade. No, to Astros proposal. Not even close.
  8. I don't think I could do it for McNeil. He's the kind of hitter I love but I don't really think it makes the team better. You'd have to be overwhelmed. I agree, he's a luxury on a team with what appears to be many holes to file, but he's a damn good luxury and potentially still learning. His best seasons should, in theory, still be ahead of him.
  9. Everything points towards Washington winning this. It'll be all that much sweeter when the Crew pulls the upset. Everything was in the favor of the Brewers for game 7 last year with a 1 run lead at home and it didn't work. It seems the Nationals are all but guaranteed to win, but you know what they say about guarantees: "..........how do you know the Guarantee Fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy, but we're not buying it. Next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I seen it a hundred times."
  10. No, I don't think they should shop or trade Cain. I mean, I guess you never completely shut the door on anything but I'm not giving up on the current group for next season. They still have a very talented group of position players. Perhaps they're a pitching coach, an injury recovery, and a good under the radar signing away from winning the division again. Idk, but the 2nd wild card makes giving up seasons for a rebuild less appealing to me with Yelich on the roster. If you're in the camp of rebuild then I guess you'd shop; I'm not on board with that stance.
  11. I guess everyone has a price, but I just fail to see a realistic scenario. Clevinger. That would be my answer. I don't think it makes sense for the Brewers to try and trade a now, MLB proven good young player for prospects. The risk is too high.
  12. I'll keep Shaw. I really feel like he must have something physically wrong\changed since last season. Even in spring, the guy was striking out at an alarming rate.
  13. You can watch the Brewers from anywhere in their coverage area on any streaming service that offers Fox Sports Wisconsin. That includes Hulu TV, YouTube TV, Playstation Vue, Fubo TV and DirecTV Now. I think blackout rules are kind of a thing of the past now. Thanks. Guess I'm a bit slow with the times then. I shall give YouTube a trial run.
  14. Aren't we in a day and age where it makes sense if you'd like the local crowd to come out and support you that you make it easier for the local fans to view the local team's broadcasts? I lost my access to view games when Sling lost their access to Fox. It's kind of an irritating game. I'm mostly sure the only reason I was able to watch them on Sling is that my Century Link isp is based in Minnesota. So, my question is does anybody know how the TV broadcast rights break down? Does MLB own them, does the broadcasting station? Is there a legally acceptable streaming option to watch the Brewers in a local area other than a cable package? It's hard to mold my kids into Brewers fans when I can't even watch a game with them.
  15. I'm not sure about the players checking out. Bottom line is that in comparison, they've given up 100 more runs than last season. Yes, the offense has maybe been a bit disappointing and slumping but that's not the problem. The problem is: Davies, Anderson, Gio, Houser, and Lyles is what you're trying to rely on with a not very good bullpen. That might get you by with peak form, Hader, Knebel, and Jeffress but not with their current production. It does feel like a lost season at this point. They really banked hard on Woodruff, Burnes and Peralta. Hindsight says they overplayed that hand a bit. Nothing about their season is indicating any sort of resurgence so I'm not super hopeful. Guess I'm just hoping they hang around and at least play better. I am interested to see if Houser can develop.
  16. Good for both I guess. I agree the Brewers were in a tough spot with Aguilar. I don't get to actually see too many games but his secondary stat type numbers from Fangraphs look the same or better than the last couple seasons. Based on that, I'd say he's due for a rebound. Faria is a fair return though; hope it works for both teams and Aguilar goes back to being a very good hitter.
  17. He's actually the one SP I want and would immediately try to extend him. If Burnes ever figures it out, a front of the rotation with Woodruff-Wheeler-Burnes could be real nice. I think in the Brewers current situation Wheeler is a needle mover. No, not an ace but he does have the ability\stuff to shut down the best lineups on a good day. He's instantly the Brewers best pitcher. I know that's not saying much . I still like this teams chances if they can get hot down the stretch.
  18. Wow, that's an excellent haul for Cleveland. Well done. I don't much understand it from either the Padres or especially the Reds. I personally would value Franmil the highest in all those guys. He's a beast, especially in the AL now where I can DH if needed.
  19. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Mets turn around and flip Stroman. A Stroman\Diaz package would be awfully enticing to other teams. Combine that with a Syndergaard and Wheeler deal and they could rebuild fairly quickly. I like alot of their position players. It's kind of disappointing they couldn't ever get all those young stud SP going at the same time. I think most of us were drooling over what could've been with that group.
  20. Yes, Sling lost access. Going to have to cancel and maybe try YouTube. Booo. The only reason I have Sling
  21. I think they probably have different values to other teams. We all know what Arcia is; I'd tend to lean towards keeping him over Dubon if that was the option. I still hold out hope for him having a Andrelton Simmons kind of career. Dubon seems interesting in a David Fletcher or Adam Frazier kind of way. I don't think either have a great deal of trade value by themselves. My guess is Arcia still has more trade value than Dubon.
  22. Agreed. Give me Lux, May, and Beaty and we'll call it a day and wish Hader well. I'd say the deal with Andrew Miller a few years back would be a decent comp. I'm not really in favor of a sell but you'd have to really consider it if an Andrew Miller type deal was available.
  23. I haven't read through the entire thread. What are people recommending selling outside of Hader? Grandal and Moustakas? I don't like the way the Brewers are playing or their pitching. They really need one of Shaw, Aguilar, or Thames to start hitting, but the foundation is still here to get hot and make a run at things. Anything can happen if they can just get in; they have the talent offensively to do some damage. I know they don't have much of a farm system to work from but I'd sell what's left to try to acquire some pitching. They don't have anything to logically sell that would bring back much significant, imo If they are not intent on ever trying Hader as a starter (that does seem remote at this point) then you could talk me into seeing what teams are willing to offer for him. That might change my opinion on selling. Mostly I'm willing to see where things play out. It doesn't have a good feel but the 2nd Wild Card, as much as I don't like it leaves the door open a bit wider. Acquire a starter and see if you can get hot.
  24. I'm not sure what is wrong with Shaw; maybe he's had the wrist thing or something else since Spring training. He struck out a ton in spring too and I just chalked it up to trying some different things. His numbers the last couple years have been All-Star-ish. He even stepped up in his peripherals last year to the point where I wondered if there might be another slight step up coming. I don't think you go from 18% K rate to 32% without something being physically wrong. I'm happy to see Hiura, but I wouldn't discount Shaw. He's been really good.
  25. So he's pretty much given up 4 years of FA at 7 mil/per, correct? That's not good. It is hard to fault somebody for taking guaranteed financial freedom however. It's a lot different to go into free agency as a 27 year old middle infielder vs. a 30 year old middle infielder. Honestly, most likely just the contract locking in the salaries for the arbitration years will be a steal for the team. There is no risk by the team in this case. If he made no improvement on his numbers or ability, even a current version Albies at age 27 would probably garner $12-$15/ per season for 5-6 years. And we've seen what Machado type numbers would get you. I mean good for Atlanta and good for Albies right now. It's obviously something he agreed to and knows what he potentially gave up. It's not like he was forced to take the deal. Personally, if I was him and my agent came to me with that deal, I would've fired him. But I suppose that's me now and not as a 22 year old.
