  1. Brian Bass is a free agent...
  2. Not sure "selling" is the perfect term, but the fact that the team is standing still is driving me wild. Time to do something. Doug, it isn't working.
  3. Parra tutored by Bumgarner? If the Brewers are about to take on salary for an elite starter it may as well be Cliff Lee. Don't think Cain is a fit anymore. Like someone said a couple posts above, that train left the station a couple years ago. Despite all the rumblings lately I don't think the Brewers and Giants match up as well as people think - unless San Fran doesn't hang up at the mention of Madison Bumgarner.
  4. How many opponents' runs can we pin on our SS in the last few games? Holy moly.
  5. It's not that Miller Park inflates numbers, it's that NL west parks deflate them. Pretty much everyone's going to take a power hit getting traded to SF.
  6. A Corey Hart HR or two off of Bumgarner would be nice all-around.
  7. There's no reason why Gomez can't be a 4th OF, for pinch-hitting or running (yes, that still exists, pinch running). Could open up double-switch opportunities. He's not completely useless, maybe he just isn't an every day kind of guy. I still like the idea of sending him down and let him try to work things out, but completely giving up on him is unnecessary.
  8. Gutsy strikeout there, Wolf gave the Brewers a good one tonight.
  9. Albert enjoyed that one, as usual. Don't be too proud, Poo. Brendan Ryan could've hit that 2-strike meatball out.
  10. I don't think that bunting comment is all that egregious.
  11. Has any pitcher won a Cy Young and Silver Slugger in the same season?
  12. I think the definitions of "buy" and "sell" are pigeon-holed into one meaning. Buying doesn't necessarily mean playing for this season and that's all. Now if we're talking about a rental like Cliff Lee, sure. But it isn't like the Brewers couldn't get a useful player(s) for now and later in exchange for Hart or Fielder. The Brewers aren't so bad at the ML level and in the farm system that they need to sell off everyone. I don't think the return for guys like Edmonds, Hoffman, Capuano, or even Counsell is valuable enough to really pursue. Chances are they'll be blocked by players already in the system anyway. I think if the Brewers add one #2 type starter they're right there in the division for the next 162 games. Then it comes down to the rest of the guys on the team playing to their capabilities. But I'm not in line with the thought of dumping off guys just because they're old. Unless the Brewers want to dump a contract - I can't think of any left - or they're blocking someone in the minors I don't see any reason to bother. I do think they will be taking and making offers involving Corey Hart, and I do think one of Bush/Davis/Capuano will be dealt by the deadline. Otherwise, not much else is really necessary, as far as I'm concerned. Oh, this is a Prince Fielder topic.
  13. I don't really think the lineup right now is all that bad, but I'm beginning to warm to the idea of Lucroy in the 2 hole. WeeksLucroyHartBraunFielderMcGeheeEscobarPitcherGomez
  14. I'd like it if Parra improved his change and curve (even that slider he showed a couple times in his last start) so he could drop that splitter. It gets him a lot of strikeouts but as long as he's a big league pitcher he'll lead the league in wild pitches every season.
  15. This start is gonna make the Davis decision harder, but seriously - a Mariners lineup without Gutierrez? Can't put all that much stock in this one.
  16. Prince is having an absolutely brutal year. Horrendous timing for all parties involved. He just butchered that grounder by Mauer.
  17. At least we know for sure that Narveson isn't anything special.
  18. Solid #2? Possibly #1? Have you watched him pitch at all? He's already a bona fide #1. He throws 99 consistently and can locate 3 off-speed pitches. He's the most untouchable player in the entire league.
  19. To be frank, taking ABs away from Gomez right now is a good thing. I think the guy could use a stint in AAA. Not that I'd want Jim Edmonds taking the ABs...preferably Lorenzo Cain, but perhaps I jump the gun...
  20. And he pitched marginally well against a putrid offense for 4 innings. Huge knock on Peterson, right.
