  1. So this Jeremy Jeffress/bullpen deal is only temporary, right?
  2. Lilly isn't pitching all that great. Just cruises right through Fielder, Braun, and McGehee. Each of them had at least two good pitches to crush. Pretty embarrassing, actually.
  3. Escobar hits more groundballs than Gomez. Edmonds/Hart or just going with Braun 2nd is probably better. Absolutely. I just meant that between Escobar and Gomez, who are considered so similar on this site, I'd choose Escobar in the non-Braun-hitting-second lineup.
  4. Why on earth is Gomez still hitting 2nd? There is no argument, he can't be hitting there. I'd much rather see Escobar in that spot.
  5. Why do the Brewers have so much trouble with Ted Lilly? He's nice, but not THIS good. What exactly is the coaching staff telling these guys?
  6. Something about his delivery bugs me, but I think that might have actually lived up to the hype.
  7. Good to see the Brewers have finally moved on, now perhaps if Rivas/Rogers/Butler can kick it in to gear we could see one of them get into the rotation by the end of the season. They don't have to set aside a roster spot for dead weight anymore. Business aside, I wish Jeff the best. He never did anything outside of performance to deserve the boos that rained upon him. Still showed up for work every day and tried his best. The Brewers have certainly put up with worse.
  8. Got to stick with Manny for an extended period. He was obviously fatiguing around 85 pitches. Working quickly, throwing strikes...I think 3 of those walks came in his final inning, doesn't help that he was getting squeezed. I think I'd rather have Bush starting than Narveson, but that's nitpicky. Yo, Manny, Wolfy, Cappy, and Narvy is probably as good as the Brewers can do at this point.
  9. Despite the fact that pretty much every 1st rounder is supposed to be a future all-star, can't help but like the pick. Like others have said he sounds a lot like our ace right now, and he seems pretty likable.
  10. Just to get this out of the way - trading Gallardo with that contract is absurd. I don't know anything about anything, but I would have to think that GMs answer phone calls about every player on their team. I'd say pretty much every team has a guy or two that are truly untouchable, but everyone else is up for grabs for the right price even if it's not made public. It's not like there's some league-wide list of players "on the market". Gallardo and Braun are untouchable at this point, but everyone else is fair game.
  11. Esco's had a ton of hard outs lately. Seems like the harder he hits the ball, the less likely he is to reach base.
  12. What's the point of overturning it and calling it a perfect game now? So Galarraga gets a phone call and finds out he threw a perfect game? This type of thing is about the moment. Calling it a "perfect game" now is just anticlimactic. No matter what Bud Selig does this will be remembered as the perfect game the umpire ruined. It helps that Jim Joyce has taken complete responsibility for it - the anti-McClellan.
  13. I don't think Paulino was too excited to see Casey McGehee ready to throw down at the plate...
  14. And how many pitches was Narveson at when he imploded yesterday? Who would you rather watch get beaten up?
  15. Ozzie Smith in his prime couldn't help this pitching staff. Frustration thread.
  16. I'd rather they keep Parra in the rotation and put Narveson back in the 'pen. Wish Manny had a fair shot in the rotation. But he seems to be doing okay in the bullpen so I guess it's not that big of a deal. Either way, Thursday can't come soon enough.
  17. Ken Macha is the man.
  18. The Brewers have so many starters as is, not sure another iffy option makes sense. Between Parra, Estrada, Narveson, Davis, Capuano, Suppan, Bush, and maybe even Loe the Brewers have enough competition for starts. Minor league deal would be fine but I can't imagine the Brewers can promise him major league action.
  19. Tonight was a huge step forward for Yo. If he can start doing this consistently (walk-wise) he's not going to be a "good #2" anymore.
  20. I don't remember the Mets using a PH. Why didn't they just leave Santana in to face Fielder?
  21. Guess Pagan thought it was low? Taking that pitch with two strikes is pretty dumb, in my opinion.
  22. I feel like I haven't seen a game like this in ages. How refreshing.
