That doesn't matter if it is in the same area as other countries it is still way to high. The US needs to get inflation back down to the 4-6% marks. Preferably 4 or below is the perfect spot to be sitting at. The rate of inflation needs to drop by about 3-5% otherwise it is going to be a huge problem that no one wants to see or experience.

Some scouting reports: MLB: Keith Law: If anything he is probably somewhere around a 3rd or 4th round pick and will probably be someone's senior sign. The power is there but with his swing he is going to strike out a lot. He did cut down his strikeout rate by 10% this year which is good but once he starts seeing better pitchers that strikeout rate is more than likely going to be at 40%+. The power is there and he will hit a lot of home runs but the biggest question mark for him offensively is if he will be able to keep his strikeout rate down enough. He would be fine as a 3rd or 4th round pick but any higher than that it would be a waste of a pick. -
We don't have a free market and one of the key contributors to inflation is government spending. Increasing taxes would not be a good idea at this time or any time in the future. There are only two countries that follow a free market and that is Switzerland and Singapore. Switzerland currently has an inflation rate of 2.9 and Singapore has an inflation rate of 5.4. So free markets do tend to regulate inflation fairly well. Studies have found that lowering taxes actually increases revenue for the government while increasing taxes lowers revenue. There are less people who pay the higher taxes and normally just avoid them through loopholes. The only way you can increase revenue on taxes is by taxing the middle and lower class more. This has been proven in every European state. The majority of the taxes that the European countries get their revenue from are the lower and middle class. While the European countries have higher upper class taxes the revenue from those is lower than that of what the lower and middle class provide even at a 90% tax rate. The higher the tax rate goes the less and less people you will have to tax thus the lower and middle class also see an increase in their taxes to replace those loses in revenue. The best option to lower inflation would be to lower government spending. By that I mean slashing the budget by nearly 75% of what it is now would be a good start. If you are serious about getting inflation under control you have to make cuts in the current government spending. This is not going to happen so we are going to be stuck with 6-8% inflation until our government wakes up and actually does the right thing.

Ivan Melendez is basically a Chris Carter or Joey Gallo type of a player more so Carter than Gallo because he is limited to DH or 1B only. He should put up 35+ HR's a year but he is also going to strikeout 150+ times a year. That should put him in the 3rd or 4th round. If the Brewers think they can sign him for below slot then the comp B pick would be fine also. For example if you think someone like Loftin will be available with the 3rd pick then take Mendez and sign him for below slot and try and overspend on the 3rd round pick. -
If you say what are you looking for after saying you read the resume you obviously did not read the resume. Kind of a rant here sorry but this is a pet peeve of mine. If you say you read something then you shouldn't be asking what are you looking for. The resume tells you what the person is doing. The question should be are you willing to work in a different industry or profession. Not what are you looking for. It just makes you sound lazy and that you didn't even look at the resume. I know the recruiters can't possibly look at every resume but please do not say you looked at it when you didn't. It comes off as shady and makes you sound lazy and sleazy.

Keith Law has a new mock up: https://theathletic.com/3374301/2022/06/21/mlb-mock-draft-druw-jones/ He has the Brewers taking Adam Mazur, RHP, Iowa. This would be a good pick if the Brewers go with Mazur he is a 92-95 MPH pitcher who can go deep into games with that velocity. He has a good fastball and can locate it consistently. He does have an out pitch with a slider though his other offerings are just average to above average. He will probably struggle with left handed hitters so he is probably more of #3 pitcher if everything goes right but more than likely will be a #4 or #5 type pitcher. Where the Brewers are drafting this is basically what you can expect unless someone drops like Rocker and even Rocker has some issues where he may only be a reliever because of his control issues. This draft is a weird one where there really isn't a college pitcher who is a dominant must draft pitcher. If the Brewers go pitcher it will be with a college pitcher and I think Mazur would be one of the pitchers the Brewers would be looking at. If one of the college bats drop like Beck that maybe the pick also. I am hoping for Williams to drop as that would be an awesome pick as he has been mocked in the 12-17 range. -
Tampa looking really bad.

I mentioned Beck in a previous post that I think he would be a target for the Brewers I am just not sure he drops to the Brewers. An OF of Beck, Mitchell/Frelick and Wiemer would be rather exciting. Lots of power and speed in the OF. -

Here are my picks for the Brewers: 27: Kumar Rocker RHP. I think the Brewers go the risky route here with Rocker available at 27 and place him aggressively at Wisconsin to start his minor league career. Rocker should be a fast mover if he is able to command his pitches. 63: Sonny DiChiara 1B. Probably more of a DH than a 1B but he has a lot of power and can get on base and won't strike out a lot. The big question mark for DiChiara is if he can hit a breaking ball. If he can adjust and hit breaking balls then this will be more than a senior signing. This pick is mostly just a senior signing to sign someone else. 72: Bradley Loftin LHP. This is where the Sonny drafting comes in to help the Brewers. Loftin has a strong commit to Mississippi State but with the savings from pick 63 the Brewers take Loftin and give him a $2m bonus to sign. This is a dream signing if the Brewers can do this. I would even look at Loftin earlier even at 27. I think Loftin in 3-years is a top 5 draft prospect. 102: Jacob Misiorowski RHP. 100 MPH fastball with a wipeout slider. Jacob looks to be what the Brewers used to look for in pitchers in the Doug Melvin era. I think the Brewers take him here if he is available and he would be a very tantalizing bullpen piece if not a possible closer. With this draft the Brewers go pitching heavy with their first 4 picks. Biggest wildcard is Rocker who could be a complete dud if he is not able to figure out his control problems. -
With the raising of the rates today the FED believes the economy will grow at 1.7% for this year and next year. Hello recession!!! Also inflation should increase by 4.3% this year. The CPI grew to 8.6% in May. I don’t see the CPI going down anytime soon so probably for June another 8-9% rate continuing until at least the fall. The FED also expects to raise the rates by .75 for the rest of the year.

The lower end doesn't drive the economy but they are a high percentage of the economy. There is no denying it right now but the economy is heading towards a recession and it is unavoidable. The time to address this has passed. Gas prices are going to increase and should hit about $6 per gallon on average in the US. Once this hits it will be the start of the recession but I don't see the price per gallon of gas on average going above $6. California will see $10 on average within the next month or so. Even during the fall period when travel goes down don't expect gas prices to fall all that much. They may drop by a $1 which should put the national average around $5 per gallon but that is where they will stay for the foreseeable future. Now the scariest part won't even hit the US all that much this will have the biggest impact on Africa and the Middle East. The grain shortage if the war in Ukraine continues to the next harvest is going to be a huge problem for Africa and the Middle East. There will not be enough grain to supply Africa and the Middle East if the war in Ukraine continues to the next harvest. This is where things start to get in the grim area as there will be famines in Africa and the Middle East. The African continent is already a tinder box waiting to explode along with the Middle East but less so. War is a strong possibility in Africa and the Middle East if there is a severe famine. This also means a lot of refugees heading to Europe which is already dealing with a refugee crisis with Ukraine and Syria. This is only going to make things worse in Europe. This could turn into the 1930-40's all over again. There are also signs of India being hit with huge storms this summer which will really impact the supply chain. This could be a very bumpy summer if all of the dominoes start falling. Hopefully it doesn't happen but it is very possible that we are looking at a 1930's global crisis.

If a GM drafts a 1B who is not at the level of Fielder or better in the 1st round they deserve to be fired on the spot. There isn't really a 1B prospect in the top 100 but I will try and answer your question more seriously now. At #27 probably the only 1B option would be either Cayden Wallace or Tucker Toman. For the 2nd round if they are available either Xavier Isaac or Ivan Melendez would be good options. If the Brewers go for 1B I would prefer Xavier Isaac. Isaac has elite power which is what you want from a 1B but he does use the whole field so he has gap to gap power and not just a pure pull hitter. -
My department is currently hiring for a sr reporting analyst. Looking mainly for someone who knows how to use excel. Have to be able to work from the office 3-days a week in Tempe, AZ. Need to know how to use advanced formulas in excel nested IF statements, vlookup, index match and some VBA experience preferred. If interested let me know and I can send you the requisition number. This would be in financial risk mostly in VOLKER. Finance knowledge is not needed.

Not really unless you are referring to the beginning of the year for that draft. Pre 2018 season Turang was looked at as the #1 pick but as the year went on he dropped further and further. Majority of the mocks didn’t even have him in the first round. Consensus on Turang was someone on the outside of the 1st round by the time the draft rolled around. -
Mancini is a really good target as he hits right handed pitching as good as he does left handed pitching. Defensively he really shouldn’t see the OF at all. He would be a good platoon with McCutcheon at DH. When Tellez needs to take a day off or when facing a tough lefty matchup Mancini could fill in there also. Bell would be another good option but he would be a strict platoon with McCutcheon and only seeing right handed pitchers for Bell. Another option could be Benintendi but again that is a strict platoon with McCutcheon.

I am thinking if they go the college route it will be someone like Sterlin Thompson who is closer to someone the Brewers have drafted recently in Mitchell. I don't believe the Brewers really care about what position the player is playing and what is currently in their minors. I mean it counts for something but very little in the grand scheme of everything. I just have this feeling that the Brewers are going to go with a high school positional player this year. It maybe irrational but I think that is where they will be going and if someone like Jett Williams is there who really shouldn't be they will go after them. -

Maybe they go college but I think they may go with a high school player. The Brewers haven’t gone with a high school player in the 1st round since Turang in 2018. -

More info on Jett Willams from PerfectGame: https://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=406026 If the Brewers drafted Jett I would be very happy. He seems as though he is a type of hitter that some complain about the Brewers not having. He sounds to be a low strike out hitter who will put the ball in play a lot. He also has enough pop in his bat to be dangerous. He may not put up 25+ HR seasons but he should be in the 10-15 range which is plenty enough. Looks to be a top of the order bat who can put the ball in play and will be someone who can steal a base with ease. Defensively he maybe more of a 2B than a SS but I think he can stick at SS athletically but his arm may force a move to 2B. If a middle infield spot is not an option he has the athleticism to play in the OF specifically in CF. He wouldn't have the arm to play in RF but LF is also possibility. I see him more as a future 2B which with his hitting ability should make him a perfect selection at 27. Oh and the discussion about high profile players the Brewers did take Clint Coulter at 27 in 2012 who when you read his scouting report sounds exactly like the player brewers888 is looking for. -

You may want to say what you mean and not be so cryptic in your posts. That right there is saying you are looking for someone with power. You don't say anything else about the hitter. Williams is basically what you are describing he has gap power which can improve. He also has some great hit tools as he doesn't really strike out all that much. The competition that he has been facing has been really high. You should really read scouting reports before commenting on some of these. Looking at a players height in baseball is not a good idea. This is not the NFL or NBA height is not really all that important. If someone an hit it doesn't really matter what their height is. If you looked back at Turang's scouting report his read a lot like Williams scouting report. If you want a player with and outstanding power tool you can get those players in the later rounds. Also you are not going to be getting someone like Braun or Fielder drafting at 27. -

The odds of any player drafted in any round even the 1st round making it to the majors is fairly low. So drafting players with just power in their bats is not a good idea. Ask Doug Melvin how well that strategy worked, I will give you a clue it didn't work out all that well. Let me give you one name Matt LaPorta. -

For being only 5'8 Williams actually has some sneaky power in his bat. Height usually doesn't limit a players power at all. Matt Stairs who had gobs of power was only 5'9. Dustin Pedroia another short player at 5'9 had enough power in the majors also. There are plenty of players who are not all that tall who had and have a lot of power. Ozzie Albies of the Braves is only 5'8 also I guess he has no power either. There are more if you want me to continue. -
