  1. They don't really need another bat but a dependable CF is something they Yankees do need. After King went down with his injury the #1 option is getting a few more relief pitchers.
  2. The ever popular Whit Merrifield could also be a target though I don't think he has played much CF lately either. Merrifield had a horrible start to the year but since June he has been normal Merrifield.
  3. We as American's have been lucky enough to enjoy the freedom of movement. I don't want to see that go anywhere anytime soon. It is just not economical for what you are saying for the majority of the people. Even with the higher gas prices now it is far more economical to keep an ICE car over getting an EV. EV's need to extend their range by another 150-200 miles before they become economically viable for everyone. Right now EV's are just niche vehicles. If I got a EV vehicle I would have to recharge almost every night as it would be about half the range of the EV just for me to go back and forth to work one day.
  4. You missed one #28 Spencer Jones (RF).
  5. You underestimate the power of idiots.
  6. I haven’t been excited about a comic in awhile other than Berzerker but this looks and sounds amazing! https://rippaverse.com
  7. That isn't even the worst part about electric cars. The current infrastructure would collapse in on itself if 20% of the population switched to electric cars. There are not enough charging stations and we don't have enough nuclear plants to meet the demand. Instead of paying high prices at the gas pump you will be paying higher prices for electricity that is if you are not in the middle of a blackout. Electric cars are a good idea but we don't have the infrastructure nor the means to produce enough electricity to keep the electric cars going. Since our current government has decided that nuclear bad but we can build wind and solar. Wind and solar can not provide enough unless you are willing to also build more natural gas refineries but that is also not an option.
  8. This is the fourth-straight month that inflation has gone higher than the estimates. Inflation is currently sitting at 9.1%. Inflation increased by 1.3% compared to an estimated 1.1%. It looks like inflation should reach 10%. But the real question here is how high will it go? We are also starting to get into the danger area with inflation. The FED and the current administration didn’t act quickly enough and ignored the warning signs.
  9. In Arizona in the summer it is preferable to be in the house. But I listen to all of the games when working as most are on when I am working still or when driving home.
  10. Keith Law has his latest mock out and he has the Brewers taking: https://theathletic.com/3413419/2022/07/11/mlb-mock-draft-2022-orioles/
  11. I think he is an interesting prospect but he looks to be a late round pick somewhere around 8th-10th round.
  12. Another name to watch is Vanderbilt’s Spencer Jones. He is flying up teams draft boards comps to Judge when he was drafted by the Yankees.
  13. Also new this year the draft-and-follow is returning for any player drafted after the 10th round. A player who is drafted after the 10th round and they go to a JUCO they can be designated as a draft-and-follow player. The team will also have to sign the player before the 2023 draft. If the team doesn't sign the player before the 2023 draft that pick is then forfeited so if a player does well in JUCO they can refuse to sign and reenter the draft. The amount the player signs for will still count against the $225k slot. I believe this would count against the draft that they were drafted in so for teams that do draft-and-follow may not spend all of their draft pool. But then again if the player is going to significantly go over the $225k slot value then they are probably going to re-enter the draft.
  14. Very weak for college pitchers. Seems to be a top heavy draft where most of the talent is but this is true for nearly every MLB draft. This draft seems to be very hitter heavy but that isn't really out of the norm for most drafts for MLB. There is a lot of value from the 2nd-5th round in this draft. High School players are ranked higher in this draft but there are a lot of tough signs so a team would have to be willing to go over slot to get some. Overall I think this is just an average draft class for MLB though Druw Jones and Elijah Green look to be good superstar like talent. There is also a lot of former MLB players kids in this draft which is weird and also making me feel old as CC Sabathia's son is also in this draft though he is currently unranked and is committed to Georgia Tech as a 1B/3B. I think I am going to change my pick to Sterlin Thompson 3B (Florida). He has a lot of power in his bat but it hasn't shown up during games. I think this is someone that the Brewers will pick to see if they can fix his timing issues and tap into that raw power. Thompson is also someone who can play all over the field which is the type of player that the Brewers have been targeting as of late in trades.
  15. Beck has a problem with being impatient and will take overly aggressive hacks. Basically he is a clone of Hunter Renfroe. Beck has less holes in his swing compared to Melendez. Melendez’s issue with his swing is that it is a bit slow. Both have K issues but I would be less concerned with Beck’s than I would be with Melendez’s.
  16. You haven't read what the author is talking about. He is not talking about trickle down theory in fact it doesn't even exist. From Thomas Sowell's book Basic Economics: “’Trickle down’ has been a characterization and rejection of what somebody else supposedly believed.” But “no recognized economist of any school of thought has ever had any such theory or made any such proposal. It is a straw man. It cannot be found in even the most voluminous and learned histories of economic theories.”
  17. Neither of those links prove it to be wrong. They are just talking about the estimates and are talking about the deficit. You actually have to decrease spending in order to decrease the deficit which apparently our government officials don't understand. The basis behind cutting tax rates is to discourage people from investing in tax havens. If you lower the rate enough to where the tax havens are not as profitable there is more revenue coming in as people will tend to pay the taxes because the other investment opportunities pay more. When you get more people paying taxes you will get a higher revenue stream. Please read "Trickle Down" Theory and "Tax Cuts for the Rich" by Thomas Sowell. https://www.hoover.org/sites/default/files/uploads/documents/Sowell_TrickleDown_FINAL.pdf
  18. Thomas Sowell proved this in one of his books. https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/thomas-sowell-on-the-relationship-between-tax-rates-and-tax-revenues/
  19. That doesn't matter if it is in the same area as other countries it is still way to high. The US needs to get inflation back down to the 4-6% marks. Preferably 4 or below is the perfect spot to be sitting at. The rate of inflation needs to drop by about 3-5% otherwise it is going to be a huge problem that no one wants to see or experience.
  20. Some scouting reports: MLB: Keith Law: If anything he is probably somewhere around a 3rd or 4th round pick and will probably be someone's senior sign. The power is there but with his swing he is going to strike out a lot. He did cut down his strikeout rate by 10% this year which is good but once he starts seeing better pitchers that strikeout rate is more than likely going to be at 40%+. The power is there and he will hit a lot of home runs but the biggest question mark for him offensively is if he will be able to keep his strikeout rate down enough. He would be fine as a 3rd or 4th round pick but any higher than that it would be a waste of a pick.
  21. We don't have a free market and one of the key contributors to inflation is government spending. Increasing taxes would not be a good idea at this time or any time in the future. There are only two countries that follow a free market and that is Switzerland and Singapore. Switzerland currently has an inflation rate of 2.9 and Singapore has an inflation rate of 5.4. So free markets do tend to regulate inflation fairly well. Studies have found that lowering taxes actually increases revenue for the government while increasing taxes lowers revenue. There are less people who pay the higher taxes and normally just avoid them through loopholes. The only way you can increase revenue on taxes is by taxing the middle and lower class more. This has been proven in every European state. The majority of the taxes that the European countries get their revenue from are the lower and middle class. While the European countries have higher upper class taxes the revenue from those is lower than that of what the lower and middle class provide even at a 90% tax rate. The higher the tax rate goes the less and less people you will have to tax thus the lower and middle class also see an increase in their taxes to replace those loses in revenue. The best option to lower inflation would be to lower government spending. By that I mean slashing the budget by nearly 75% of what it is now would be a good start. If you are serious about getting inflation under control you have to make cuts in the current government spending. This is not going to happen so we are going to be stuck with 6-8% inflation until our government wakes up and actually does the right thing.
  22. Ivan Melendez is basically a Chris Carter or Joey Gallo type of a player more so Carter than Gallo because he is limited to DH or 1B only. He should put up 35+ HR's a year but he is also going to strikeout 150+ times a year. That should put him in the 3rd or 4th round. If the Brewers think they can sign him for below slot then the comp B pick would be fine also. For example if you think someone like Loftin will be available with the 3rd pick then take Mendez and sign him for below slot and try and overspend on the 3rd round pick.
  23. If you say what are you looking for after saying you read the resume you obviously did not read the resume. Kind of a rant here sorry but this is a pet peeve of mine. If you say you read something then you shouldn't be asking what are you looking for. The resume tells you what the person is doing. The question should be are you willing to work in a different industry or profession. Not what are you looking for. It just makes you sound lazy and that you didn't even look at the resume. I know the recruiters can't possibly look at every resume but please do not say you looked at it when you didn't. It comes off as shady and makes you sound lazy and sleazy.
  24. Keith Law has a new mock up: https://theathletic.com/3374301/2022/06/21/mlb-mock-draft-druw-jones/ He has the Brewers taking Adam Mazur, RHP, Iowa. This would be a good pick if the Brewers go with Mazur he is a 92-95 MPH pitcher who can go deep into games with that velocity. He has a good fastball and can locate it consistently. He does have an out pitch with a slider though his other offerings are just average to above average. He will probably struggle with left handed hitters so he is probably more of #3 pitcher if everything goes right but more than likely will be a #4 or #5 type pitcher. Where the Brewers are drafting this is basically what you can expect unless someone drops like Rocker and even Rocker has some issues where he may only be a reliever because of his control issues. This draft is a weird one where there really isn't a college pitcher who is a dominant must draft pitcher. If the Brewers go pitcher it will be with a college pitcher and I think Mazur would be one of the pitchers the Brewers would be looking at. If one of the college bats drop like Beck that maybe the pick also. I am hoping for Williams to drop as that would be an awesome pick as he has been mocked in the 12-17 range.
  25. Tampa looking really bad.
