  1. Hypothetically, say I’m organizing a really nice Christmas gift for my parents and I ask my siblings to each send me $1,000 through PayPal to cover their share. Would that get reported to the IRS as income now? Yes since it is above the $600 point where it would be flagged. I think you would have to provide a receipt of the gift that was bought with the money. The friends and family stuff through PayPal maybe different as I believe you can create a bill through PayPal so it shouldn't be counted as income plus you could claim it as a gift and it should be under the threshold for a gift. This is going to be annoying if I pay for lunch or dinner and someone forgets their card or phone and I have them Zelle me to pay for the meal. Though that is a lot of lunches and dinners for that to add up but something like Uber or Lyft I could see that adding up to $600 or more in a year if you split between your friends and family.
  2. Just doing a simple annuity for a 30-year mortgage where you paid $500 extra a month would come out to about $400,000 assuming you got a 5% rate. It all depends on how comfortable you are with having debt versus having it paid off. Personally I invest everything instead of paying down the mortgage. Even at just $200 a month it would come out to about $160,000. All figures are assuming a $0 initial starting point. At $200 a month that would be equal to a house at $200,000 assuming an interest rate of 4.5% where your total interest payments are about the same as investing at $200 a month in an annuity at 5%. That is where your break even point would be with a $200k home. At $600k you would want to do $600 a month at a minimum which would get you to your total interest payments. If you were paying something like $800 a month to your principal it probably would be a better idea to split it in half. Take $400 towards your principal and $400 towards an annuity. Lets say that $400 subtracts 5-years from your 30-year loan under that same time span your other $400 a month would have grown to about $230k. Which would probably be about what you would have paid on interest over the 30-year loan period for a $400k home. Again depends on what you value more not being in debt or having more savings. I can see the appeal of both but I would prefer having more in savings.
  3. Unless MLB is bringing back the 2018-2019 baseball then I don't see McNeil reverting back to those numbers. At best you are looking at a low .400 slugging from McNeil which is absolutely worthless at 1B. He would be fine at 2B but Wong is already there and I don't see McNeil as an improvement over Wong. I just don't see the Brewers playing two players who are very similar at 1B and 2B. You are basically betting on Yelich returning to his 2018-2019 form for nearly all of your power. With McNeil, Wong and Cain in the lineup that would be three players who would be slugging at best around .400. That is just ugly and if you wanted to make the offense worse than what is was last year congrats you did it.
  4. Yeah, that's the heart of what I alluded to before- Harbaugh's 'scorched earth' personality style may not sit well with the strong-willed McCaskeys or the Chicago media. The other issue with a QB/offense guy like Harbaugh is that he may not want to be pigeonholed into taking on someone else's guy in Fields vs. choosing his own QB. Pace managed to stick two Bears HC's with a QB- Nagy with Trubisky and Nagy's eventual replacement with Fields. A new coach would have to be someone ok with the thought that their own success and/or eventual job loss is dependent more on Fields than anything else, and that doesn't strike me as a match with Harbaugh's personality. I think the Bears job makes a lot of sense for Harbaugh due to his history in the organization and the prestige of the job, but I'm not sure it's a good match based on the situation the Bears' roster is currently in or Harbaugh's personality. I think the Bears have Hackett, Day and Caldwell at the top of their list along with McDaniels and Marcus Brady. I think Jerry Gray is another possibility and a long shot would be Pat Fitzgerald.
  5. From what I have read and seen is that the Bears are the #1 option for Harbaugh, but he has let other teams know he would be interested in returning to the NFL. I am not sure Harbaugh's style would go over all that well with the Bears ownership.
  6. Also to keep IRS agents employed.
  7. Not a Packers fan but I think the perfect response is OK Boomer. Sorry couldn't resist.
  8. With all of the injuries and COVID issues the Bucks are having they sure are playing extremely well. If this team gets healthy this is a very deep team especially if Lopez comes back for the playoffs.
  9. I am not really using the trade simulator for Lauer and Houser. I believe Lauer has a lower value due to him having a lower floor than Houser. Houser has a higher floor as you can have him as a #4 or #5 starter and if he doesn't work out there he looks to be a really good late inning reliever. While with Lauer he looks to be a true #5 type of a pitcher and if that doesn't workout he looks to be someone you could put in the back of your bullpen to throw multiple innings or spot start. The trade market is also low on starting pitching which raises the value of Lauer and Houser. The trade site has Houser at 19 and Lauer at 9 and I believe they could have a higher value due to the shortage of starting pitching both on the trade market and in free agency. To the Twins just make the most sense and they have an excess in the OF and could easily move Keplar so that is who I see as a good trade candidate. If the Brewers want MLB ready or MLB proven players then the premium is going to erase a little bit for both Lauer and Houser. I don't think you are going to get a premium player for Mitchell and Turang. While I love both Mitchell and Turang there are some issues with both and I am not sure they are at the level where a team will put a high premium on them for someone like Olson.
  10. I think you are undervaluing the current trade market for starting pitchers. There are not many available and even less in FA. Starting pitchers are at a premium right now in the trade market which makes the Reds move even more confusing as they could have gotten a decent piece or two for Miley in this trade market. I think the Brewers could get someone like Keplar for Houser. Lauer has a lower value and wouldn't be able to get Keplar on his own. He would be closer to a Tellez type of a trade.
  11. [sarcasm]Fixed it for you![/sarcasm]
  12. The additives help but unless you are running a sports car or a high performance car you shouldn't notice the difference. After a few years you may start to notice like you have a bunch of gunk buildup in your engine.
  13. YouTube has some of the older movies for free to watch with ads and some without ads. Just need to search for the movie you want and I think renting is somewhere around $4 for the older movies. You can also use redbox and you can watch movies on demand from their site or find a local kiosk but they normally only have new movies at the kiosk. There is also vudu (Walmart) where you can rent movies on demand or watch for free with ads. I think all of the older movies from these sites are about $4 to rent. If you have an Amazon Prime subscription you can watch some movies for free if they are included with Amazon Prime there are a lot of older movies that are available there.
  14. Forgive me for potentially being ignorant, but is one station's fuel really better than another's? I was kind of always under the assumption that most stations were supplied with fuel by a few major suppliers, and they all essentially get and sell the same product? Perhaps I'm WAY off base ... All of the gas is the same however there can be more additives added to it which makes it different well kind of.
  15. Cousins will be waived before the deadline to guarantee his contract. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33003515/milwaukee-bucks-waive-demarcus-cousins-friday-deadline-general-manager-says
  16. Some quotes from the Article from Devin that I think speak on what happened: There are some quotes from Cain, Woodruff and Strickland. Cain and Woodruff were happy and pleased that he came forward about the injury and what happened. Williams thought he could play with it and didn't know he had broken his hand until before the game in St. Louis where he tried to play catch and that is when he told Counsell and then the X-ray's showed he broke his hand. It was Devin's decision not to be with the team during the playoffs as he didn't want to be a distraction to the team but he did watch the team. Williams also sees the 2022 season as a prove it year getting the confidence of the clubhouse back. For anyone that doesn't have a subscription to the Athletic you should really think about getting one there are a lot of good articles on there for just about every sport and team.
  17. A really good article on what happened with the hand injury. https://theathletic.com/3052509/2022/01/05/exclusive-brewers-pitcher-devin-williams-reflects-on-his-infamous-wall-punch-and-his-path-to-regaining-trust?source=user-shared-article
  18. You will have to find out who the transfer agent is for the company more than likely this will be computershare but there are others. This information is normally on the investor relations page of the companies website or you may have to call the companies investor relations.
  19. The trade that makes the most sense is with the Twins which would be Houser for Kepler.
  20. Houser would probably be the one to be traded but I am just not sure to where. There are a few teams that I could think of where it makes sense for the teams trading for Houser but not for the Brewers.
  21. I think you missed the part where I said if he threw 5 less he would be the MVP. Same with Burrow if he has 5 less of INT's he would be in the MVP discussion also. Burrow would probably have a better rating than Rodgers, Burrow is currently at 108.3 with those INT's so without those INT's he would be putting up a better year than Rodgers. Burrow also only has 7 more attempts than Rodgers and has almost 700 more passing yards. Yeah Rodgers is the MVP when someone who has throw 14 INT's this year is almost at the same rating as him. Rodgers isn't even the best QB this year.
  22. Should just rename it to MVQB then. I don't see Rodgers as the best player in the league nor Brady. The year that they are having just isn't all that special or MVP like. Taylor is having an MVP year Brady and Rodgers not so much. The gap between the #1 RB in the league compared to #2 is a wide gap. Taylor is far more important to the Colts winning than Rodgers is to the Packers. Without Taylor the Colts are a 3-14 team while the Packers are probably a 10-7 team without Rodgers mostly due to the horrible NFC North.
  23. If he is the MVP he would be the least deserving of it in a long time. His stats this year are not MVP level for a QB. The TD's are not there and the passing yards are not either. If Herbet threw 5 less INT's he would be walking away with the MVP award. JT should be the MVP without a doubt. There really isn't a QB this year who is putting up MVP numbers.
  24. The Big3 in Brooklyn are definitely a challenge for the Bucks and I wouldn't say the Bucks are the definitive best team in the East. There isn't much of a difference between the Nets and Bucks. I think the Bucks hold the edge right now over the Nets. The Bucks were having a hard time keeping Kyrie in check before he got hurt in the playoffs last season.
  25. Would only really impact their picks after the 1st round. The Giants are in a weird position if they win today it improves and worsens their draft picks in the 1st round and if they lose today it improves and worsens their draft picks in the 1st round. The Giants own the Bears 1st round pick. For the Bears at least their record for the 1st round draft pick doesn't really matter.
