  1. I completely disagree here at least with the recent college graduates. This may have been true in the past but now critical thinking has been replaced with group thinking. Very little if any critical thinking is pushed in college now as that would upset the group thinkers. In my position when we have hired new college graduates they are lacking a lot in critical thinking. Anything that challenges their perceived notion of anything that is outside of the collective that they have been taught is completely foreign to them and shouldn't be thought about. We have had people break down in tears because we have asked them to think critically outside of what they have learned. It is like they have lived inside of this bubble and can not let go of living inside that bubble. Also there is this thing it is called the internet and it connects people around the world. In the US at least there is more culture that is shared than anywhere else. Yes from the 60's to the early 2000's you could isolate yourself but now not so much unless you live in the hermit kingdom. There are a few pockets in the US where you can isolate yourself but you would have to actively engage in doing this. There is more information available to everyone right now that I don't believe you have to go to college to experience it. Liberal arts classes should be just electives that the people who want to take them can and shouldn't be forced on anyone. If something is good it shouldn't have to be forced. Once you start forcing something is it really a good idea? People will freely follow a good idea or they won't that is the danger of free choice. Stop trying to force people into doing things it is better to persuade than it is to force as you will get better reception of the idea and will also get more discussion which then generates more good ideas or bad ones.
  2. Of the 8 remaining games I think they go 4-4. Which puts them at 5 wins on the year and no bowl game, if the Badgers don't get to a bowl game I think that will get PC fired which is a good thing. The Badgers could go 7-1 and that would put them in a bowl game but I have no confidence in PC making changes and adjustments to the offense to fit the players that he has. The pessimist in me is saying the team goes 2-6 only winning against Army and Minnesota.
  3. Because at some point the HC needs to make an adjustment to their gameplan and week over week he doesn't even try to. He barely puts anyone in motion it is the same 5 plays every week. He refuses to use players like Ferguson in the slot to free him up. Ferguson is his best receiver yet he can only lineup next to a tackle? At some point you have to stop blaming the players and look at the HC if he isn't making adjustments to the game plan and calling of plays it is on the HC and not the players. Chryst = Nagy in terms of play calling and gameplans. Both are just horrible at their jobs.
  4. PC is just a horrible HC he needs to be fired! He is failing at getting the team ready each week and calling plays. PC is as good as Matt Nagy at calling plays and game planning. Having only 3 yards on 9 plays is all on the HC and this is pathetic.
  5. Unless your name is Kyle.
  6. My cousin is a plumber and he tells everyone he cleans toilets for a living.
  7. Every time I read the name for the Gwinnett Stripers I read it as Gwinnett Strippers. So I read this story as the Brewers signed a manager of strippers.
  8. The Braves it is. Braves-Brewers will be the early NLDS game book it!
  9. The early game is usually reserved for the east coast teams and the later game reserved for the west coast teams normally. MLB can move them around if they believe another matchup would get more viewers. For example the ALDS will probably be the later game with the Rays and Yankees/Red Sox. If the Mariners sneak in and beat the Yankees or Red Sox then the Rays probably slot in at the earlier time. The ALDS will also have the White Sox and Astros so moving that one to an earlier game wouldn't be as big of an issue as it will be in the NL. The NLDS is more than likely going to be the west coast teams for the later start. The Brewers will be on the 3:30 start for the NLDS.
  10. He probably started Justin Fields at QB..........
  11. I agree with this does not make sense He said he had too much to drink at the celebration and something upset him later. For all we know he went home drunk from the celebration and got in a fight with a girlfriend and punched a wall. Or he played a video game raged over something and punched a wall. Or he went on brewerfan.net and saw the complaining raged and punched a wall. Or he stepped on a lego and punched the wall. Or he saw a spider on the wall and tried to punch it. Or he saw the bad guy from WWII as a ghost and tried to punch him but hit the wall. Or he was visited by aliens tried to get away and in a fit of rage he punched the wall. Or he saw bigfoot and bigfoot said he sucked at pitching and then he swung at bigfoot and hit the wall. Or he was playing that boxing game on the Wii and hit the wall. Or he was using a VR headset and lost track where he was and punched the wall. Or he was trying to be like Bruce Lee and punched the wall. Or he was trying out to be in the next Matrix movie and punched the wall. Or he found out his pet is a Cubs fan and punched the wall in frustration. Or he thought the wall was Tony LaRussa and punched it in frustration. Or.........
  12. That was a waste of 3/4 billion dollars. Even after the renovations that thing is a dump of a stadium. Other than the lake for the TV scenery I can't think of a single thing that is good about that stadium. It has to be one of the worst stadiums to actually watch a sporting event, I would take the Metrodome over Soldier Field any day.
  13. Depends on the profession really. I know some people who were oil workers who retired at the age of 50 and didn't have to draw social security either. They get a pension each year and that pension doesn't look like it is going to run out anytime soon. I know some construction workers who made $90-100k a year and have a really good pension plan along with individual investments. I know some high end corporate types who are paycheck to paycheck. I have a friend who is a retired pilot at the age of 45 who is basically set up for life. He is a little different though he lived with his parents until he was 35 and invested nearly all of his money in the stock market and on side businesses. He owned three gas stations that he then closed at one time and then remodeled the property and is now renting out the locations to CVS he gets about $20k a month on those three rentals. Most trade unions have really good and solid pensions. Depending on how you spend your money you can retire early or late or not at all.
  14. The Bears really don't have a deterrent from getting out of that horrible stadium. Hopefully the city doesn't cave in and help them build a new stadium. Or the suburb, I think that is a suburb of Chicago, that they bought the land from doesn't subsidize a new stadium either.
  15. Wheeler plays for the Phillies now.
  16. Keith Law came out with his list today. He doesn't have a vote. https://theathletic.com/2854629/2021/09/29/2021-mvps-cy-youngs-and-rookies-of-the-year-keith-laws-picks?source=user-shared-article Here is his rankings from the article, he also put Wheeler as the NL MVP. National League Cy Young 1. Zach Wheeler, RHP, Philadelphia 2. Corbin Burnes, RHP, Milwaukee 3. Max Scherzer, RHP, LA Dodgers/Washington 4. Walker Buehler, RHP, LA Dodgers 5. Brandon Woodruff, RHP, Milwaukee I think Wheeler is going to steal some 1st and 2nd place votes from Burnes and Scherzer making this a really close race.
  17. Dune looks ok. Though I will probably just watch that on HBO at home. The new Venom movie looks decent. Other than that it is the Matrix and the new Spider-Man movie. Everything else not really excited about really.
  18. The Tampa Bay Montreal Rays? https://theathletic.com/2853967/2021/09/28/rays-plan-to-split-time-between-montreal-florida-still-draws-skepticism-two-years-on-drellich?source=user-shared-article If you don't have an Athletic subscription, there is a plan to have the Rays play half their home games in Tampa Bay and half in Montreal. The Rays are planning on introducing the logo for this during the playoffs.
  19. PC is basically Matt Nagy. Neither are willing to make adjustments or changes to their offensive scheme to fit the players that they have. It is always on the players and never on the coaching staff not making adjustments to the players that they have. I have no confidence in PC ever making an adjustment to the offense or doing something creative to help his players out. Development wise at least at the QB position and the WR position this coaching staff is way below average. There are D3 schools that are better at developing QB's and WR's than the Badgers are.
  20. There could be two game 163's. One for the NL East and one for the NL West. I am hoping for a game 163 for the NL West. Would weaken one of the NL West teams a little at least.
  21. This is just an excuse to not put blame on PC. QB problem or not the play calling has become very predictable and there are things that he could do but doesn't and it has nothing to with the QB having trouble grasping the system. This is the same system that was being ran by Coan so nothing has changed. The play calling is exactly the same, the same formations, very little motion, no play action, no moving players around, etc. The problem is with PC and his horrible play calling. There is no excuse and it is not on the QB when you run less than 5-yard routes on 1st and 20. That is not on the QB that is on the play caller. PC could put Ferguson in the slot every once in a while but refuses to because the QB couldn't handle that? That doesn't make any sense at all. The QB play has been bad but the play calling has been equally if not worse. PC is just a D3 coach who can't adjust or make changes to his game plan regardless of who his QB is. If the OL is having problems pass blocking try using some rollouts with your QB get him in motion, move some of your WR around don't just line them up straight up 99.99% of the time. There are many things he could be doing that would improve the play of the team and has absolutely nothing to do with the QB understanding the scheme. These are basic things that can be done and yet he has refused to do any of them. PC has a really good TE but yet he refuses to move him around to put him in a position to take advantage of his height against a CB or a safety. That has absolutely nothing to do with his QB and who is playing QB.
  22. I still don't see why there was so much love for McNeil. He was a popular name for a Hader trade. I never liked McNeil and still don't like him. He looks like just a guy with very little pop in his bat. It looks like McNeil benefitted from the juiced ball where he had one good season.
  23. Mertz was recruited by Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson and Notre Dame. So there has been interest in him so I wouldn't be surprised if Oklahoma or another top school would still be interested in him if he went into the transfer portal. He would definitely get picked up by one of the top 15 schools. They don't need to be drooling over him to pick him up in the transfer portal. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on either Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma or any other top 10 schools if he entered the transfer portal after this year.
  24. If he goes in the transfer portal he will probably find success somewhere else and be that elite QB. There is some obvious coaching issues going on here as someone as talented as Mertz shouldn't be playing this bad. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he transfers after this season and he goes to a school like Oklahoma or Auburn and becomes a 1st round draft pick.
  25. 3 interceptions where the route was jumped. I think that is a play calling issue and also a QB issue. I don't believe Mertz is this bad and this is all on the coaching side of things as he has way too much talent to be this bad.
