  1. Melusi looks like he needs room to run type of a RB after the first hit he is normally going down. Probably best to use him in sweeps, toss, or screen plays. He just doesn't look like a RB1 more like a RB3. I wouldn't mind to see him in the passing game more though assuming he can catch that is.
  2. I think you are overvaluing Marte here especially with the hamstring injuries and he is getting older. If the hamstring injuries are serious you could see Marte only being a 2B and not an OF. I think that brings his value down a lot and I don't see teams giving up anywhere close to $40m in value. At best a team is only going to offer one of someone like Mitchell or Ashby and then one of Small or Black type of prospects. Your valuation is overly high and I just don't see a team giving up said players for Marte.
  3. [sarcasm]It is a free country but the mods may not let you ask some questions why.[/sarcasm] I like Taylor a lot but I just don't see him as an everyday starting OF. I believe he is best used as a teams 4th or 5th OF as he is good defensively his offense I don't believe would hold up for a whole year. His slash line you quoted isn't bad but it isn't great either and I think it would take a dip lower his average is probably what would fall the most. He just doesn't make enough contact to be an everyday OF. He is a big K machine and I think he would get closer to 200 k's in a season if he were an everyday starter. Taylor would be fine if he is your 6th or 7th batter in the lineup but the Brewers already have enough question marks going into next year with Yelich and Hiura.
  4. I think the 2011 trade deadline would beg to differ. With the best team assembled during the Melvin era they neglected to make any substantial moves at the deadline and decided to roll with Yuni B at shortstop. There wasn't really anyone to trade to get better the cupboard was completely empty. I think the Brewers tried to get some more pieces for that team but they just didn't have anything to trade. It is why there is always this caution of trading everything you have during one season and then not having anything left when you really need to find an upgrade. The Brewers didn't even have the prospects to get someone like Furcal from the Dodgers that year.
  5. I don't believe Taylor is an everyday player he appears to be best used as a 4th or 5th OF. I wouldn't mind sending Taylor to another team if the right deal comes around.
  6. Also a fellow graduate in Finance and I am finally using my degree to do Finance stuff. Well sort of I do all of the tech stuff now for a finance team but I do get to help with some of the finance stuff. This new position I lucked into only hired me because I have all this experience in Alteryx, R, SAS, Python and Tableau as the people who were helping them out left the company. Also if you graduated within the last couple of years with a degree in finance and have some tech skills in Python or R you would get hired really quickly. The company I am working for is basically sending people with no experience in finance at all to fintech classes all the time and also project management especially for AGILE certifications mostly as SCRUM or SCRUM Masters. Those are the two things most banks are looking for right now. Basically SCRUM and SCRUM masters to lead the projects for the fintech's that the company is having a hard time filling.
  7. I liked the new Venom movie but that is me. I would like just about anything with Venom in it. Probably my second favorite comic book character behind Deadpool. If you are not really into the MCU or comic books probably best to stay away. I watched Dune last weekend and I loved it but I can see why most wouldn't like this movie. It takes awhile to get into the movie and it ends about half way through the book. Action is rather light until about the end of the movie. I guess I am just a sucker for sci-fi movies.
  8. I like Pavin Smith more but I doubt the Dbacks would trade him. Pavin Smith can play all 3 OF spots and 1B. I just don't believe he is someone the Dbacks would be willing to trade though with Beer maybe they would look at trading Smith. Marte would be an interesting target but where would he play? He doesn't really have the arm to play RF so that leaves CF, LF and 2B. I just don't see the Brewers carrying another OF with JBJ, Cain, Taylor and Yelich already on the roster and possibly even Hiura as an OF. I am just not sure there is a fit here for the Brewers position wise though the Brewers could always just move Yelich to 1B or DH. For a Marte trade I think his value has come down a bit due to the injuries and I think he is closer to a surplus value of around $30m. So Mitchell, Quero and Small should be enough to get Marte. I wouldn't really be interested in that due to Marte's recent injuries. The only way I would be trading for Marte is if the Brewers traded Cain in another move.
  9. Corey Hart is a very appropriate comparison for Wiemer. I don't believe he will skip AA and I think the Brewers will place Wiemer in A+ to start the year and then promote him to AA.
  10. I don't think he will break from what he has been doing. I think Rizzo is probably who they will target for 1B similar to the Brewers signing Smoak. I think a 2 or 3-year deal for Rizzo is where the Brewers go in FA. Castellanos would be nice but I think Bryant signing with the Brewers is far more likely than Castellanos.
  11. Depends on when they are traded. If Hader is traded during the off season he has less value (demand) than JRam but if Hader is traded during the deadline where relievers normally get 1.5-3x their value then yes Hader will bring back more than JRam. It all depends on when the trade happens. Positional players it seems have more value in the off season while pitchers especially relievers have an overly inflated value during the deadline. This is also a Brewers fan site so valuation of the teams own players maybe over or under stated.
  12. Ed Sedar has announced he is retiring. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-ed-sedar-announces-retirement-from-coaching
  13. Hi excite. Sorry couldn't resist it. I think Wiemer is fine with his current K rate. I am not concerned about it yet as this is his first full year in the minors and I will wait until the end of next season before judging him on his K rate.
  14. Reading this article brought a real smile to my heart. As someone who graduated college in 2008 and spent essentially the next 4 years trying to find a job I can totally related to being on the other side and being treated the same way. Well, well, well. How the turntables... I really hate slate but there is that rare one in a billion chance that I agree with the premise that they have but the drivel that comes after it is just uggg. Companies have been doing this for a long time now and still do. The generic rejection letters where they don't even have your name correct on them to an HR rep who completely disappears. I have been offered jobs in the past where I have sent an email or called the HR rep I would be accepting then weeks or even months later I finally get the generic response of sorry that position is no longer open. I have even had one call me a year later and asked if I was still interested in the job. The worst HR is definitely AMEX whenever an HR rep contacts me about a position there they never send an active link to the position. I have to actually dig for the actual link to the job or I have to reply to the email about four or five times until I get a link I can actually use. Not sure I would even accept a job at AMEX their HR department seems very poor.
  15. Because PC is a moron when it comes to play calling.
  16. PC is the worst play caller in football not just college but all of football.
  17. Moving the mound back would be huge IMO and if you increase the size of the ball and the weight slightly that should help also. Adding more weight to the ball should also help with protecting the pitchers arm along with the increase in size of the ball. I don't want to see something the size of a softball but something a little bit bigger than what it is currently where there is more drag on the ball which would actually be the same as moving the fences back. I don't see MLB moving the fences back as that would be a big cost to most teams along with some teams probably not being able to do it like the Rays, Red Sox, Cubs and Brewers (LF wall wouldn't be able to be pushed back any further than it is right now). If MLB wants more action I think making the ball slightly bigger and heavier should do the trick. A couple of rules I would like to see MLB bring in would be the pitcher and batter clock along with a new hit by pitch rule. If you have armor on your elbow or arm and you are actively sticking said arm or elbow into the strike zone and you are hit by the pitch it is no longer a HBP and is instead functions as a fall ball and if the catcher catches that foul ball for strike three it is like a foul tip and will be an out. I would also like to see a maximum throw over and step off implemented per PA. A runner can only get a certain distance away from 1B before they are considered an active runner and the pitcher can throw over without it counting as a throw over or step off. This should help in bringing back more steals and action to the game and should also decrease the down time. If baseball wanted to do something more drastic they could shorten the game to 7-innings. I kind of like the 7-inning double header games I wish MLB would actually keep those maybe schedule two games on Saturday's one in the morning and then one in the evening. This would allow for families to go without the drunks on Saturday games during the day.
  18. If the Brewers are going to make a trade for a bat I would prefer trading Hader over Mitchell who I think is the Brewers top trade chip but I just don't see anything out there that I would want to trade Mitchell for. Hader on the other hand there are some options though I am not in love with the options that I can see that are out there. Phillies: Hader and Hiura Brewers: Hoskins and Bohm Mets: Hader Brewers: Alonso, Diaz and Ramirez Padres: Hader Brewers: Campusano and Weathers Astros: Hader and Kelly Brewers: McCormick, Brown and Perez
  19. Rosario and Joc were both FA the Brewers tried to sign in the off season. I think they wanted Rosario to play 1B and he declined and Joc chose the Cubs over the Brewers offer.
  20. From the major league team I think Meadows and Margot make sense. Prospect wise I think Mead would be the best player the Brewers could get. He skipped AA this year and went from A+ to AAA and is currently playing in the AZFL. So possibly someone to stick at 3B in AA or AAA for the Brewers where they lack a lot of depth. I am not sure who the Rays would want back in return for Mead. For Meadows I think either Feliciano or Warren would be enough value wise. I think the Rays would rather get something like Uribe, Valerio and Mendez instead of a one for one type of a trade. I really want to get Mead from the Rays and would love to have him in the Brewers organization as I think he will be one of those under the radar type of prospects who just produces at 3B. He probably won't be fully ready until 2024 but at least the Brewers will have a 3B prospect in the upper minors.
  21. Watch them trade him for Ben Simmons. I was afraid Portland was going to do something stupid and trade Lillard for Simmons over the off season. Thankfully that didn't happen.
  22. I would prefer Pavin Smith over Marte.
  23. I agree trading Mitchell and Small is a lot of risk. Trading Small is probably a bigger risk as there is not much behind him in the minors at least not yet. The Brewers can't really afford paying for #4 and #5 pitchers in free agency the premium is way too high for the Brewers to be paying. The Brewers need to be keeping as much in house pitching as they can so if they do need to go out and sign someone they can go out and get a better bat where you are not paying as high of a premium in free agency. If the right deal comes along and you get another chance at trading for a Yelich type of a deal then I would think about trading Mitchell but I wouldn't want to trade Small because of the lack of depth behind Small. If that means a deal can't be done then I am fine with that. Frelick, Wiemer and others are also possible options in CF but they are just a bit behind Mitchell. A stopgap in CF could be Ray or Urias for a year or two.
  24. At least they are being honest about it instead of just using some filler words to cover up what they are actually saying.
  25. Hopefully Jrue's injury is not to serious otherwise not much to complain about for this game.
