  1. A little early to start talking about the off season and I am not interested in rehashing the same old arguments in the Major League forum anymore. What I expect to happen: Ramirez will be shopped around but will ultimately not be traded. Hart will be brought back as Morris hasn't done all that much for the Brewers to have faith in him in being a regular at 1B. Weeks will be shopped but I don't see the Brewers eating a portion of his salary but if the right deal came along I believe they would. Axford is released and resigned 1-year $2m +incentives Lohse will be shopped around but I don't believe a team will make a serious offer for him. Gallardo will be shopped around (most likely player to be traded). Aoki will be shopped around (Rangers make the most sense along with the Yankees). The Brewers will show interest in both Hughes and Lincecum as bounce back players on a 1-year deal whoever doesn't get offered a QO will be the target. Projected record about the same or worse as this year. What I would like to see happen: Weeks traded to the Royals hey they had interest in him during the deadline [sarcasm]maybe they will take him since we took Yuni off their hands?[/sarcasm] Maybe a Weeks and cash for John Lamb trade could be worked out. Lamb looks as though his TJ surgery has killed all of his velocity in his fastball. Aoki traded to the Yankees for Ty Hensley/Nik Turley. Morris/Kh. Davis to the Rays for Blake Snell/Enny Romero. The Rays need some OF help especially in the corners but I believe Morris would interest them the most as he would be a cheap replacement for Loney and they would get about the same production out of Morris as they are out of Loney this year. Ramirez and Gallarod to the Red Sox for Blake Swihart, Brandon Workman and Cody Kukuk/Sergio Gomez. I don't believe the Red Sox are going to part with any of their top pitching prospects unless it is for Stanton or Carlos Gonzalez. Move Braun from LF to RF. Trade Gomez to the Mariners for Paxton, Stefen Romero, and Tyler Pike/Gabriel Guerrero I am unsure on where I would trade Lohse to as I don't see there being that many teams that are fits as I can only think of the Angels, Orioles (long shot), Mets, and the Giants as possible trade partners and none of them really match up all that well with the Brewers in terms of prospects. The value on the return from a trade with those teams would be rather negative. 2014 lineup 1. SS Segura 2. Green/Francisco 3B 3. Braun RF 4. Lucroy C 5. Francisco/Gamel/Halton 1B 6. Kh.Davis/Gindl LF 7. Romero 2B 8. Schafer CF Bench: Prince, Green, Francisco, Gamel, Halton Starters: 1. Lohse 2. Peralta 3. Estrada 4. Paxton 5. Burgos Relievers: Sanchez, Workman, Wooten, Henderson, Figaro, Gorzelanny, Thornburg projected record 70-90 4th/5th in the NL Central.
  2. Just about 99.99% of all scouting reports and scouts I have talked to who have seen Thornburg pitch state he is a relief pitcher and not a starter.
  3. Except he is not going to play average defense he is probably more in line with Weeks defensively and if he puts up that line I wouldn't be all that impressed especially with an OPS of .680 anything below .700 and you better be a Carlos Gomez type of a defensive player otherwise there is no value in keeping a player like that.
  4. Lincecum would be an interesting one year contract type of a signing but I believe the Giants are going to give him a QO and if they do if I were Lincecum I would take that QO and run especially with what happened to Lohse this off season.
  5. The Dbacks win that series if Gibson doesn't decide to pitch to Prince with 1st base open in game 1.
  6. The difference between 32 or 33 starts compared to 28 or 29 is very insignificant. Again you are just hurting his development more than you are helping it as Peralta needs all the experience he can get right now. There is no reason to be limiting him right now at all.
  7. I'm sorry but Peralta should be fine to go 200 innings this year I see no problem with the Brewers letting Peralta go the whole year as that was the plan no matter what in the beginning of the season and every team in MLB would be doing the same with a pitcher like Peralta. Peralta pitched 175 innings last year and right now he is projected to go about 185 innings this year. I don't see the problem here you are basically suggesting to stint Peralta's growth as a pitcher if you sit him in September. So why is this a problem when Peralta is on the correct path for development?
  8. What if you have the next Buxton sitting there just begging for you to take them and the next best ranked pitcher grades out to be a Scherzer type who do you take? I will take Buxton 10 times out of 9 times. I don't really care what the minors look like if it is stacked with a certain position or not. If the best player available is an OF I am taking that player even if I have a whole bunch of OF's already in the minors as they are all not going to pan out injuries and other things will happen to destroy the perceived depth that is there. You can also always trade from your excess for something of need.
  9. I'd be excited to see it, but I'm not holding my breath I feel the same way but he would look nice at 1B next year. The only other team besides the Rangers that would be looking at him would be the Red Sox and I am not all that sure they will do that as they may stay with Napoli at 1B. Should be an interesting off season for him I just wish the Brewers would at least kick the tires on him.
  10. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/08/jose-dariel-abreu-escapes-from-cuba.html I wonder if the Brewers could sign him. Not that many teams need a 1B and one of the two biggest markets is trying to get under the luxury tax in the Yankees. I expect the Rangers to sign him. Would be a good investment at about $8m a season. A 6 or 7 year contract around 55-60m wouldn't be a bad investment. Would be equal to locking up a player to a pre arby deal.
  11. Ben Sheets to replace Joe Block! Not sure if that should be in blue or not.
  12. Not true. SSD's on average have a lifespan of 5 years with the better made ones from Intel ranging from 5-15 years.
  13. Corn Tortillas only have about 15mg of salt and you can use those as a sandwich wrap compared to 100+ in bread.
  14. Green isn't as valuable as Prince would be coming off the bench. While the offense is nice he is limited to two positions and possibly a third. His offense isn't all that great at either 3B or 1B but would be adequate at 2B but defensively I am not sure he could play 2B. Prince on the other hand can play multiple positions which gives him more value than Green as a bench player. With Prince it allows you to have a player on your bench who is very limited defensively while with Green you are going to need a player who can play defensively a little better at least at two different positions. With Prince for example you could have an Adam Dunn like player defensively on your bench while with Green you are going to need someone like Jerry Hairston on the bench. I would rather have someone who is going to give you more power off the bench who is limited defensively than someone who is almost an exact copy of the player who is ahead of him on the bench. Team building wise Prince makes more sense than Green as he can play more positions and allows you to fill out your bench with better offensive players who are limited defensively.
  15. These would have been the only bands I would have wanted to see at all. The rest you listed would be filed under the garbage category for me.
  16. I would have no problem with Francisco on the Roster and Green not on it. In fact the first thing I would do as a GM in the off season would be to remove Green from the 40 man roster. Prince is a better utility player than Green as he can play all of the OF positions plus SS, 2B, 3B, and even 1B though he doesn't really have the offense to play 1B. Prince has more value than Green does and I have no problem with him not being on the 40 man. Francisco would be a nice bench bat as he has some pop in his bat which I would prefer over what Green brings.
  17. That would be racist but in all seriousness yes that would be a good idea but not to take this political there are obvious reasons why this wouldn't pass for a law.
  18. Not to take this thread off track but what your friends mother did is highly illegal. This is equal to insider trading. As for buying a foreclosed home it is a big gamble on what you are going to get. It is like taking a gun out aiming it at yourself and pulling the trigger and seeing what happens.
  19. Based on what? The Brewers won't pay that and neither will any other team. So Axford will sign for less. Based on every year that a non closer relief pitcher that gets released when they get this close to this kind of money. It would make zero sense for the Dbacks to trade Kennedy for Axford because of this. The Brewers will more than likely release Axford this offseason than pay him the arbitration he would get. Why trade someone who actually has value for a negative value?
  20. Axford should get at least $7m next year which is in the DFA category for non closing relief pitchers. While Kennedy will still have value next year even at $7-9m.
  21. Because Axford is an overpaid relief pitcher and Kennedy is a reasonably paid starting pitcher. Kennedy has more value than Axford does which is why you would have to pay all of Axford's salary in order to get Kennedy in a deal involving Axford. The Dbacks are trying to shed some payroll not add more.
  22. Unless you want to be paying all of Axford's salary plus a prospect for Kennedy then yeah Axford makes sense here.
  23. Since when is a .800 OPS ordinary?
  24. So far Prince has been worth his contract though he has been fairly healthy through his career so far and Miguel Cabrera has also been worth his contract that he signed. A-Rod was worth his first contract and the Yankees new his 2nd one with them he wouldn't be worth his contract for the final 2 or 3 years. Soriano wasn't a bad contract for the Cubs as they got the value they wanted out of him it was just the last 2-years he hasn't really been worth the contract. Crawford looks bad because of the injuries he has had. Pujols looks as though he is on a sharp decline and I wouldn't be surprised if it was because he stopped using PED's.
  25. The Astros can have Rodon I want no part of him at all as a Brewer. The two pitchers that I really like are Tyler Beede from Vaderbilt and Dylan Cease from Milton, GA. Cease has a lot of things that scouts liked about Matt Cain when he was drafted. I still like Newcomb and Finnegan but both are going to have to perform rather well in order for them to be drafted as early as the Brewers are picking unless the Brewers get a commit from either one that they will take less than slot to sign. That would then allow the Brewers to sign someone in the later rounds who maybe a questionable sign because of the amount of money they are asking for to sign.
