  1. It was the classy thing to do and not show up the bad Pirates fielding? Wait we are not playing the Cardinals so that can not be it.
  2. [sarcasm]What do you mean a strike out is not a productive out?[/sarcasm]
  3. wow the worst baserunning decisions I have seen in a long time.
  4. That is the national media and ESPN has never really been a national media type of an organization even though they believe they are. ESPN has always been an east coast based sports news company since it began. It was not just the Yankees and the Red Sox that they promoted over other teams but the Big East in college basketball was helped by ESPN by making it a popular division. My question still remains though why is it important what other teams fans think of the Brewers? Another teams fans are not going to like the Brewers or the Brewer players and most fans are not even going to care about another team all they care about is their team. If you put Braun on any other team in MLB the other teams fans are going to boo him with or without the issues Braun has had. Why? Because he is playing for the other team and not their team. The majority of fans across MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA or any other sport are not going to care all that much about another team that is not the team they are cheering for. Will there opinions be based on what the sporting news tells them of course it will be it would be ignorant to think otherwise. To me what another teams fans think of the Brewers has very little meaning to me and I don't really care if a fan of the Diamondbacks thinks the Brewers are a horrible team because of Braun. Does it really matter what another teams fans perspective on the Brewers is? The majority of the time it is always going to be negative. A lot of Brewer fans think that the Cardinals are overly pompous pricks when it comes to their antics on how the game should be played. Should Cardinal fans be worried about what the Brewers, Cubs, Reds, or Pirates fans perspective on their team is?
  5. I am not sure what the point of this thread is really. Why does it even matter what other teams fans think of the Brewers? or Braun even? Is it going to help you sleep better at night that the other teams fans have a positive perspective on the Brewers rather than a negative one?
  6. I could actually see a srategy of using all of your draft pool money with your first few pick paying off. I am not convinced Rodon is the guy to do that with but I could definitely see a strategy like this working for the correct player or in the right draft. What about going over the signing pool for three players? This might actually be the draft to do this in.
  7. I am not a big Rodon fan but if he falls out of the top 10 because of signability and a bad year I would seriously look at offering him 1st pick money and I wouldn't be to worried about losing a pick in next years draft because of it.
  8. So basically you're saying they should have been on him once he crossed half court. They should have pressed before that allowing Kentucky to set up for their shot is the reason the Badgers lost. This was a coaching blunder made by Ryan that lost the Badgers the game.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Rogers is the starting 1B come next season.
  10. Yes it is a really big deal to lose the feeling in your thumb. For example if you lose the feeling in your thumb you won't know how hard you are gripping a ball which can lead to blisters and can result in other injuries to the arm, shoulder, hand, elbow, and wrist. You can also lose the feeling of your grip on other objects like a bat. This can lead to more severe problems for a baseball player resulting in a loss of power and bat speed. If my memory serves me correctly I believe Farve also had an injury similar to this and I believe it took a few years for him to recover from it.
  11. When was the last time the Brewers swept the Red Sox in Boston. Has to be a long time early 90's late 80's I believe?
  12. What about salad tongs?
  13. Record: 88-74 All Stars: Jean Segura, Ryan Braun, Matt Garza Biggest Surprise: Adam Dunn makes a comeback in Milwaukee and hits .250/.325/.550 Biggest Dissapointment: Scooter Gennett Playoffs: Yes Place in Division: 2nd; The Cardinals finally get some negative karma and are hit with the injury bug all year and only win 70 games. Playoffs NL: Braves, Pirates, Dodgers, Nationals, Brewers Playoffs AL: Rays, Tigers, Royals, Angels, Rangers World Series: Tigers over Pirates
  14. I am going to disagree with you here as this is way to early to pick this player and if the Brewers are going to go with a college pitcher it will probably be Sean Newcomb, LHP, Hartford. Keep an eye on Braxton Davidson, 1B, North Carolina HS as I believe this is a player the Brewers may grab in the 1st round. I don't believe the Brewers are going to draft a pitcher in the 1st round this year and this is someone I can see the Brewers taking with their 1st pick.
  15. Well this was really covert! Black Ops kind of thing here by the Brewers brass!
  16. No but Dukes average FB velocity is 88 mph that is Jeff Suppan like. Wang on the other hand his average FB sits around 92 mph and peaks at 95. Again Duke is a LOOGY and nothing more unless you want to see BP. Wang has shown he can get right handed batters out and his stuff is far better than Dukes. Just watching Wang pitch would tell you that Wang is the better pitcher now.
  17. I don't believe Parker is going to enter the draft this year. Just a feeling I have about this.
  18. You have 73 posts here and 5 of them are repeated fear-mongoring posts about Wang. Why? He doesn't throw BP and saying so is quite frankly and blatantly dishonest. 2 home runs allowed in nearly 50 innings. BP is indicative of home runs...and monster ones at that. Wang is a talented young man. There hasn't been any conversation regarding him as a closer, but I guess I wouldn't mind a guy that can throw strikes as a closer...unless you like Turnbow/Axford types closing out ballgames for you? Get off our wang! Yeah Wang doesn't throw BP that is more Duke's role on this team.
  19. I would ask for Ryan Rua if the Rangers wanted Weeks and another lower level prospect depending on how much money the Rangers wanted the Brewers to pay for.
  20. Bonds instead of Surhoff in 85 is the only one I can think of.
  21. Yes, Antone Williamson a 1st round (4th pick) in 1994 and Chad Green 1st round (8th pick) in 1996. Neither made it to the majors and were higher picks than Arnett was.
  22. I'm not sure I'd qualify Pena as a non-prospect, he continually shows flashes of brilliance, though he may ultimately end up in the bullpen, or of course nothing like any prospect. However I've said this before but I like him more as a starting pitcher than I do Hellweg, I just don't see Hellweg starting in the big leagues with his rate stats and relative lack of control. There is still hope for Pena, I'm not sure exactly how much, but I'd much rather move Gagnon than Pena at this time. I feel similarly about Pena as I did Peralta, he's intriguing and a guy you just keep hoping will have a breakout season at the upper levels of the minors. He has a nice K rate and one can always hope that the BB rate falls to reasonable level, otherwise like Hellweg he's destined for relief if anything. I know you really dig into the minors TC07 and I guess I look at Pena and Hellweg in a similar way: electric fastball, very limited control. Neither of those guys are anything close to a sure thing and due to that, if the Mets were to make Ike available in a deal for one or the other I think it behooves the Crew to try to solve an issue at the MLB level with a prospect that is by no means a guarantee. If Thornburg, who I think most rate as an average MLB prospect, was an overpay to get Ike, don't Hellweg and Pena, with their own warts, represent fair value from the Brewers system for Ike? Hellwegg yes Pena no. Pena is almost an equal to Thornburg and has a higher ceiling than Thornburg. Pena and Hellwegg are two completely different pitchers Pena has three pitches with two of them being an out pitch while Hellwegg only has one pitch and he doesn't even control his 1 pitch all that well. Pena has the potential to be a Cueto type of a pitcher. It would be a mistake to trade Pena to the Mets for Ike unless the Mets are also giving the Brewers another prospect in return for Pena.
  23. Jason Rogers has a better chance at making the roster than Velez does.
