  1. Well Dunn is somewhat off the market. The Nationals are looking for a return similar to what the Brewers would get if they traded Prince. I don't see that happening for only a half year of Dunn.
  2. According to Rosenthal Williams is confident in getting Prince or Dunn.
  3. Would you trade Gamel, Rivas, and Jeffress for Haren?
  4. I thought he was in AAA last year. NVM it was his AA time that it I was thinking about. I still don't see him adding much power and his numbers are not all that good he feels more like an over hyped east coast prospect than anything else.
  5. I just don't see him being anything more than a AAAA player. He should be dominating in AAA this year as it is his 2nd or third time in AAA at this time and he isn't. I just don't think he will develop enough power to be anything but a AAAA player.
  6. Wasn't basing it off of what he said just stating that when you have something being said like that for a player it usually means they stink and you just want to find something nice to say about them. Which I believe right now Lars Anderson isn't anything more than a AAAA player or a career minor leaguer.
  7. Which is why I don't understand why the Yankees refuse to trade Chamberlain and a pitching prospect to the Dbacks for Haren. Unless the Yankees are still under the illusion that Chamberlain is anything but a reliever.
  8. The first trade scenario is not going to happen. Second scenario I would rather get someone better than Niemann unless the the prospects are Colome and another of the Rays good pitching prospects. That last one is going to be very expensive and possibly a franchise killer. Crawford is looking to get Matt Holliday type of money (7 years $120 million) and Adam Dunn looks to get something like 4 years $60-65 million. So you are going to be paying Crawford and Dunn about $17m each next year which is about what Prince would be getting. Not only that but Crawford could get even more with the Yankees eying him for next year. If Fielder isn't with the White Sox next year then they will be looking at Dunn along with the Nationals and a couple of other teams which could get Dunn a bigger contract. Crawford would be the franchise killer here. I'm not sure Crawford's skills will be all that great after year 3 of his contract a lot of Crawford's value is tied into his speed and that will decline as he gets older.
  9. Someone needs to take the baseball magnet out of Weeks body.
  10. Being interesting/thoughtful are something you don't want to see on a scouting report that usually means you are a AAAA player or worse a career minor leaguer. Both of which I could see Anderson becoming.
  11. The Brewers turned down a trade of Bowden for Hardy last season. I don't see them trading Hart for Bowden either. The Brewers management and scouts just do not like Bowden and believe he is reliever and nothing more and I am not even sure Bowden will be a good reliever.
  12. So how would you score that on a scorecard with the pitcher changing from OF to P every other inning if that happened.
  13. Yes unless there is a can't refuse trade that comes along.
  14. The Brewers wouldn't have to sign two FA pitchers Wolf would be fine as the #3 or #4 pitcher in the rotation. The Brewers would only have to sign Vazquez in that scenario. So it would be Gallardo, Vazquez, Wolf, Hudson, Parra/Narveson/Butler/Rivas/Rogers. If the Brewers could get Vazquez on a 2 or 3 year deal that would be fine.
  15. And what magical team or trade is out there that gives the Brewers a return of an ace type pitcher. That deal is not out there at best Melvin is going to get a #1 or #2 pitcher and a every day player for Prince in a trade during this deadline. During the off season he could get more or he could get less a lot less or Melvin could just hold onto Prince and then nearly everyone complains that the Brewers only got two comp picks for Fielder and that is not even a guarantee that the Brewers will get that. A team like the Nationals or the Orioles could pick up Fielder and the Brewers would be stuck with a comp and a 2nd round pick for Fielder then since their 1st round pick would be protected. I don't see why you could be complaining about a possible deal of Beckham and Hudson plus a few other mid-level prospects that is more than what you could expect in return for Fielder if the Brewers just let him walk with comp picks.
  16. I believe that trade last year to the Padres has worked out for both teams. Though Jake is injured now so not so much now but still a good deal for the White Sox and the Padres.
  17. No Gomez has more potential than a AAAA player but if Melvin could get someone like Gomez for Bush I would be excited and that would be one shrewd move by Melvin.
  18. No not really. Even if Bush pitched great tonight and threw a perfect game his stock really wouldn't have went up at all you still would have gotten the same type and amount of prospects in return for Bush. Every team knows what they would have to give up for Bush and it is not all that much either. I stand by the AAAA player is where Bush's return value is at.
  19. It doesn't really say two MLB ready starting pitchers though and it maybe pure speculation though that is all that anyone can go on right now for Haren. I don't like Chamberlain at all. I think he is over hyped for a reliever and I don't believe Chamberlain is a starter at all.
  20. I am not so sure about that. Odorizzi and Lawrie would be a nice package for Haren and I am not sure the Diamondbacks could do much better than that in a trade.
  21. I'm guessing the White Sox don't like the money that they would have to give Fielder next year or to resign him. They also may favor Dunn because he is a FA next year.
  22. If the Brewers were going to be "buyers" then the best option would be to trade for Haren. With three more years of service with Haren for the Brewers that would give you rotation next year of Haren, Gallardo, Wolf, Parra, Rivas/Butler/Rogers which wouldn't be a bad rotation probably somewhere around average to above average. One of Fielder or Hart would have to be traded in order to fit Haren into the team budget wise. As for getting Haren I believe the Brewers would have to give up Lawrie and one of Scarpetta, Odorizzi, or Jeffress and a PTBNL. I am not sure that would be a good idea to gamble on the future like that. But it could be an intriguing move by Melvin if he did pull that off. I really do not like Oswalt and I believe his age has caught up to him and he really isn't an Ace type pitcher anymore.
  23. Crawford is going to cost about the same as Prince would in free agency. You know the Yankees are going to target Crawford and Lee this off season. So you better be ready to take on a 7-year $120 million contract with Crawford which is probably right around what Prince is going to get in free agency. As for Werth I would rather resign Hart than sign Werth but ideally I wouldn't want to sign either of them to a long term contract. I believe Werth is in line for a big payday also in free agency somewhere around $12-15 million a year for at least 3 to 4 years.
  24. It looks as though the Nationals are asking for the world and the universe in return for Dunn from the White Sox link here. Apparently the Sox are willing to trade Hudson but are not interested in trading Beckham though. Anyone else in the White Sox farm system that would go well with Hudson that the Brewers could get?
  25. The last part I wouldn't have I thought Axford and Braddock should have been in the bullpen at the beginning of the year.
