  1. Somewhat. I believe in AAA it is lacking but with Hall there now who can play any of the spots in the OF and all of the IF spots I don't see why they did it but it may just be a move in case Gerut doesn't heat up a little bit with the bat.
  2. He would probably take over for Gerut if anyone at all and wouldn't get that many AB's or starts.
  3. Hardy sucks and needs to be gone I'm guessing Doug couldn't find any sucker to take Hardy. It is time for Escobar and it is time for Hardy to be sitting on the bench. So far this year for Hardly By Day/Month AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Last 7 Days 22 2 7 3 0 0 2 2 0 1 0 0 .318 .375 .455 .830 April 77 5 12 1 0 3 7 7 0 19 0 0 .156 .224 .286 .510 May 80 16 25 6 1 2 17 11 2 9 0 0 .313 .400 .488 .888 June 101 16 23 2 0 3 8 10 0 22 0 0 .228 .295 .337 .632 July 88 8 21 4 1 3 13 4 0 17 0 1 .239 .269 .409 .678 One good month flanked by one very bad month and two bad months. Hardly is now the worst SS in the NL this year falling behind the struggling Rollins and Edgar Renteria is doing better than Hardly. Even Kendall is doing better than Hardly why Hardly isn't benched and Counsell playing in his place is mind boggling. Hardly sucks and needs to be and needed to be traded at the deadline. I really hope Hardly and Hart are gone from the team after this season.
  4. I wouldn't call Gwynn a better player than Gerut. They are about equal and both are AAAA type players. Petco plays better for Gwynn than Miller Park would so Gwynn really didn't have much value to the Brewers. Melvin could have probably gotten a better player for Gwynn but I doubt that.
  5. Not really. Why did Kendall ask for a pitch inside there why? and why did Cameron over throw the cut off man there. Just a horrible game so many lapses mentally this game.
  6. For the most part he was wrong but the Brewers didn't have the talent to make a trade. Nearly all the teams wanted pitching in return which the Brewers do not have. If the Brewers had MLB ready pitching in the minors they would be up on the team right now. It is definitely not a depleted farm system the Astros and the Cubs have depleted farm systems but not the Brewers. As for the finances they will always say that on ESPN no matter what.
  7. What are you talking about? Hall hasn't even been mentioned in any serious rumors or any rumors for that matter. The Brewers were in on Peavy but were out when he got injured. Trading for an injured player is not a smart idea.
  8. Not sure how far these go back but here are some at sportsbubbler.com I don't think they have anything from last year though.
  9. His BB/9 being low is just statistical noise and not much of anything else. I doubt he is actually walking less this year because of his command or anything Duncan has done for him. It is more than likely have to do with him putting more balls in play though his K/9 is also rather high for him. Looking at a guy from what he did from one year ago is a very nearsighted way to look at things and I doubt GM's look at only what they did the year before. If a GM does do that then they deserve to be fired because there is no way you can get a real good look at what a player can do if you just look at what they did the year before.
  10. Nice to see Gallardo strand Morgan at 3rd with Johnson and Dunn up.
  11. Swisher could play CF in a pinch or Hart could play CF. Though I would not want to see either of them in CF on a regular basis but both can and could play CF and if the Brewers could get Kennedy also in the deal it would more than make up for losing Cameron. Gallardo, pitching from Hardy trade, Kennedy, Parra, Bush/Suppan is a better rotation than what we have now and could have next year.
  12. Unless you go by the off season when the Yankees were interested in Cameron as being still true today. I believe the Yankees are still interested in Cameron right now it is just at what cost. I always thought a Swisher for Cameron trade would be good for both sides Kennedy or Hughes is probably out of the question but I can dream about Kennedy right?
  13. I would rather try to get Kennedy and Swisher from the Yankees. Cabrera is just yuck to me.
  14. Maybe he shouldn't have hit those 2 grand slams on Monday then or watched that Dunn home run go out of the park. Clearly Dunn is at fault for this injury.
  15. Pineiro is not playing over his head though. Pineiro is just getting lucky in terms of his BABIP being so low right now but that is still near his career norms in terms of BABIP being only .016 away from his career BABIP numbers. Pineiro is a fourish ERA pitcher with a career FIP of 4.24 I believe Pineiro would be a good #4 starter for the Brewers if the money is right. Basically that is the only type of player I see the Brewers being able to bring in this off season. It will be either Schmidt or Pineiro and you better pray and hope that it isn't Wellemeyer.
  16. Only Pineiro, Lackey, and a maybe on Schmidt and Pavano. Schmidt might be a good buy low option in free agency depending on how well he does the rest of this season but if he does do well I doubt the Dodgers will let him go since Schmidt will be a good and cheap #4 or #5 option in their rotation. Pineiro will be an interesting option. If the Cardinals resign Holliday they may not have enough to resign Pineiro who will probably be looking at a multiple year deal in the range of $10-13 million a year. Pineiro is having a great year with the Cardinals and maybe fluky with his ERA but I believe he is still a good #3 or #4 option for the Brewers. Pineiro's GB% has increased this year and his LD% and FB% have also decreased this year. Though his BABIP is the lowest it has been since 2003 when he was with Seattle so he maybe getting lucky. Other than a trade the free agent list for next year looks very bleak.
  17. Here is the link. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/31/sports/baseball/31doping.html?_r=1&hp
  18. That wasn't surprising that Hardy hit into a double play it seems as though that is all he has done so far this year with runners on.
  19. The Red Sox are not going to be trading Buchholtz for Hardy. The Red Sox are only going to trade him for Halladay and not Hardy. Liriano makes some sense since he is in a down year and that may make sense for the Brewers and the Twins. The Twins need offensive help in the infield and Hardy would be a good #5 or #6 hitter in the Twins lineup. Liriano could fill the void between Gallardo and Bush, Parra, Suppan, and Looper. I would definitely do a Liriano for Hardy trade assuming Liriano passes a physical. There still maybe something wrong with Liriano but I would like the Brewers chances next year with a rotation of Gallardo, Liriano, Bush, Parra, and Suppan. It only gets iffy after #3 and the #4 pitcher and there will be less pressure on Parra next year and hopefully he can rebound after this year and pitch like he did in the first half of '08. Hart could also be traded for some pitching but that is a little bit more dicier than just trading Hardy right now. Please Melvin get a deal done with trading Hardy or Hart for some pitching or both for some pitching next year.
  20. Selling the Cubs series tickets or even the Twins series tickets can sometimes pay for your whole 20 pack. I sold my Twins tickets this year because I wasn't able to go to the games and I knew in advance and sold them and it paid for about 1/4 of the 20 pack that I paid for. I will probably sell some of my Cubs games tickets this year also.
  21. Snyder is currently under contract with the Diamondbacks until 2011 with an option in 2012. If Melvin could somehow swing a deal for Snyder in the off season that would take him up to the end of 2011 when hopefully either Lucroy or Salome are ready to take over at the catchers spot in either 2011 or after that year. Snyder is only owed $10.5m over the next two years. This would be a perfect contract for the Brewers to take on and it shouldn't cost that many prospects in return since the Diamondbacks are looking to dump Snyder.
  22. Yuck yuck and yuck. Damon can't play CF anymore, Baldelli is the definition of injury prone, and Crisp is just not very good. Cameron even at his age is better than all of those players even Hart.
  23. Snyder will be available in the off season or right now from the Diamondbacks. Snyder isn't that great of a defensive catcher but his bat is better than Kendalls or Riveras.
  24. First Swisher isn't a top prospect which I suggested the Yankees would probably trade straight up for Cameron their salaries nearly match and he is under control for a longer period of time. Swisher could play CF until Cain is ready and when Cain is ready Hart will be gone and Swisher can play RF. A Swisher for Cameron trade makes sense for both the Yankees and the Brewers. Swisher will be under control for the next couple of years at a reasonable rate and Cameron will bridge the gap until Jackson is ready.
