  1. This was a good buy low trade by the Brewers here. The Brewers got Lopez for a lot less than what the Cardinals gave up to get DeRosa and both are comparable. If McGehee and Counsell were healthier I would be boggled by this or if Hall was playing better then this doesn't make much sense but Lopez is like the Durham trade last year. This adds depth and you know you can't count on Counsell to continue doing what he is doing and McGehee is going to regress also.
  2. One problem with your thinking here is that the Marlins have locked up Hanley for a long time and I believe the deal is about as long as Braun's and about the same amount of money. I don't see the Marlins trading Hanley.
  3. Jennings is looking to be a great pick he might be the 2nd best pick in the draft this year. Hopefully Jennings can do this during the regular season the Bucks may actually have a future now. Any word on Sessions?
  4. It is going to cost a lot to ship to Alaska plus with the TV being a heavy object it is going to cost even more. UPS or FedEx are probably the way I would go with something as heavy as a TV and as fragile as a TV even though I know first hand how things get loaded in a UPS truck. Not very pretty. I suggest a very heavy duty box because it is going to get thrashed around and lots of bubble wrap. Do you have the original TV box still? If you do you could reuse the styrofoam that came with it and package that into a box. Also make sure you get insurance on the TV this is a must. Nothing worse than having a busted TV and no way to replace it if it does get damaged in transit.
  5. There is Cain who is a legitimate CF and Schafer who is also a legitimate CF. The problem is at the corners but all you need there is Gindl, Gillespie, or someone else to be adequate enough. With Braun in the OF there is little concern also Gamel could be a corner OF if he doesn't hack it at 3B. Even a platoon situation with Gindl and Gillespie wouldn't be bad. You don't need someone who hits .330 25+ HR's at each spot of the OF serviceable OF's have their value and I don't see the OF really being much of a problem in the future. Starting pitching is the big question mark really and then after that the bullpen which is always going to be in doubt. I don't think any team in MLB doesn't have its doubts about their bullpen every year. Even the Yankees have had a shaky bullpen the last couple of years.
  6. The only way I am trading Hardy to the Mariners if it is for Morrow in return. Granted the Brewers would have to add in a prospect but there is no way I give up Hardy for a #2 and a #5 pitcher plus cash. No way you lose 1.5 years of Hardy for 1/2 a year and cash for a #2 and a #5 pitcher. Just no way I would do that. Hardy and Gindl/Cody/Gillespie for Bedard and Morrow I wouldn't mind. Probably would have to throw in another prospect though for that deal.
  7. I would rather have Cameron back playing full time than have a platoon of Gerut and Johnson. The Yankees are not going to take Hall for anything without the Brewers taking on part of his salary which makes absolutely no sense to do since the '10 season would be the last year the Brewers would have to hold onto Hall. In '11 Hall has a $500K buyout which is rather small compared to Suppan's which is $2M. I don't see Hall being traded unless he gets hot at the plate during the second half of this season and some team like the Royals or the Nationals see Hall as an everyday SS or OF for their team for a year. The Brewers would still have to eat some of Hall's contract or take a bad contract back. But with the Royals GM he may just trade some problem prospects for Hall you never know what that guy is thinking. 2010 is also to soon to be counting on Lucroy to be with Milwaukee and I'm not sure Salome will be ready to play at catcher in 2010. If the NL had the DH Salome would be up right now. Cameron still has a lot of value but I'm going to bet that the Yankees are going to sign Cameron next year to help Austin Jackson in CF. I don't see the White Sox trading Dye for Hart not when Dye is basically their best OF right now and their best bat. The White Sox are not going to trade a productive player in Dye for a huge question mark in Hart. Lopez is also going to cost more than Iribarren and Taylor Green is way to much for an injured Bedard and one who is very injury prone also.
  8. If you don't have the wild card then you have to return to the 2 division format or go into a 4 division format. There is no way that there is going to be anymore realigning in MLB for awhile now at least. The All-Star game is for the fans and the majority of people who watch baseball and are just sports fans wouldn't want it gone plus the MLB wouldn't want to lose a money maker like the Home Run Derby and the All-Star game. So the All-Star game is here to stay if you don't like it don't watch it simple as that. But to reiterate I wouldn't want to go back to hte 2 division format again. The Brewers would never be able to compete against the Cubs, Mets, Phillies, and the Braves. Those would be the top 3 teams in the NL division 1 and you know darn well that the Brewers would be stuck competing against those four teams and don't forget the Cardinals who could also be in that division. There is no way I would want to return to the 2 division format again baseball would become non competitive again.
  9. The NL this year would have had a perfect lineup for the DH this year with 4 1B on the team. The DH should be in the All Star game all the time I just don't see the reason why the pitcher needs to hit in the all star game.
  10. I don't really care but there should be a DH no matter what. I don't want to see a pitcher hitting ever again at the All Star game.
  11. Consell is not going to be able to keep that up though.
  12. Yes check this Clarion DVD indash unit out. What you want to look for is an av input. How big of a screen do you want? You can get 7" screens for about $300. A 7" screen from Clarion. You could mount that where the deck is but it would mean you would have to customize your dash to be able to get it to fit in there I'm guessing.
  13. The Brewers could also just bring back Cameron again which wouldn't be a bad move either. The Yankees may want Cameron if Jackson isn't ready next year.
  14. I believe a PTBNL has to be named and traded by the end of the season so I don't believe you can wait to trade someone next year.
  15. The Reds would ask for Escobar + and then Melvin hangs up the phone.
  16. No I don't believe the Cubs or the Cardinals are vastly superior than the Brewers. All 3 of the clubs have glaring holes. Every time the Cubs get someone back from an injury someone else gets injured. Ramirez returns and then Dempster and Soto go on the DL and I believe Lee is also hurt again. The Cardinals have a good pitching staff but if Ludwick and others on the Cardinals do not start hitting better Pujols will not be able to carry that team all the way for the rest of the year teams will just walk Pujols and make the others beat them. With Bush coming back after the All Star break and hopefully Hardy, Braun, and Hart can start hitting better again the Brewers offense should be a lot better than it has been for about a month now. Bush should help stabilize the rotation and if Parra can stay consistent that should help out the rotation even more. If there is a trade that goes down I believe it will be for a Davis or Lopez type. I'm not sure what the Brewers really need. The Brewers need a good #2 or #1 type pitcher but there just isn't anyone available for the right price right now. There are a lot of #4's and #5 type pitchers available and there are some hitters available also. I would really love to see the Brewers some how get someone who can hit leadoff for the Brewers either Lopez or DeJesus would be good to have hitting leadoff. Having Kendall or Counsell betting leadoff is just not something I want to see anymore. Counsell is better to have on the bench and the bench players need to start hitting a little bit better also.
  17. You would think that wouldn't you? But the Royals recent trades and acquisitions have been mind boggling. Taking on Betancourt and giving up 2 good prospects for him. A Hall + prospects for Meche is not that far out from a possibility. Hall's contract is not that bad either with that 500k buyout in the '11 season it is far less worse than Guillen's contract with the Royals and Wells contract with the Jays.
  18. Not really and I don't think Teixeira ever was consider as a viable option at 3B so not really versatile. Switch hitter yes but I don't see the advantage there over just a lefty power hitter. The Teixeira trade really is a good thing to look at what to expect for 2 or more years of Prince. Yes Prince is not that great on defense but if you are an AL team you really don't care about that. Even with an NL team at 1B defense is about the lowest thing on the minds of the teams that they want to see a 1B being good at.
  19. Prince being signed long term is actually something I believe will happen. It will cost the Brewers $2.5M to buyout both Hall and Suppan for the '11 season. That is a huge amount of savings for the Brewers that year. $19.5M will be coming off the books in '11 which clears a lot of room for Fielder the question then is will Lawrie be ready for the season following the '11 year? Also increases being paid to Gamel, Gallardo, Parra, and probably a free agent signing next year or in the year following that may take over some of that money. Obviously Kendall and Cameron won't be on the team in '11 but both might be on the team in the '10 season. There is money coming off the books in '11 that will allow for the Brewers to make a run at Fielder. I could see Melvin making a run at Fielder before the '11 season and if a deal can not be done he would either trade Fielder in '11 or just ride out the storm to the end of the season with Fielder.
  20. Not really if the Royals would take Hall in the deal which would be a savings for the Royals of $15.1M (not including this season the savings would be even more). I believe Meche would be a better pitcher than Suppan in the '11 year which is a $2M buyout year for Suppan. If the Brewers could swing a deal that lands DeJesus and Meche while dumping Hall and a prospect to the Royals you gotta make that trade. The Brewers would only be on the hook for $3.6 for '10 and $11.5 in '11. That is subtracting Hall's contract from Meche's contract Hall has a buyout in '11 of $0.5m.
  21. Meche wouldn't be a bad pickup and he is under contract for the next two years. Doug Davis if he is traded with Lopez I wouldn't mind that trade. Lee is not a free agent after this year. The Indians have a team option they can exercise for next year which they will. So it will cost just about as much as Halladay would. Bedard is another possibility but the Mariners would have to drop out of the playoff race before they would think about trading Bedard.
  22. From Saturday's Toronto Sun... "The Jays are a financial mess," said one scout whose club has been involved in trade talks with Toronto. "They could say: 'If you want Roy Halladay ... you can take an outfielder, too. I know the Jays have both Vernon Wells and Alex Rios out there (in trade talks)." I agree Rios or Wells would be a salary dump but not Halladay alone. Halladay's contract compared to those two is not that much and it only for another year so that salary is not that much when considering Halladay's value in a trade is probably not going to drop all that much between now and next years trade deadline other than a major injury happening.
  23. JP won't lose his job this winter if he doesn't trade Halladay. The owner wants Halladay back and has said he would like to have Halladay extended if at all possible. All indications look as though Halladay will stay and probably wants to stay in Toronto. JP is just doing his job and looking to see if he can better the team in the long run. This isn't a salary dump at all. This is looking for someone foolish enough to give up their whole system for Halladay. If JP doesn't find that deal he doesn't have to make one. JP's job is not on the line if he can not trade Halladay.
  24. Yuni Betancourt is not someone a winning team would want on their team. Betancourt = Lugo now if the Red Sox trade Lugo or DFA him does that mean the Red Sox are sellers?
  25. I can name a few Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez, Alfonso Soriano, and Andruw Jones. Those are just a couple of names that popped up in my head there are probably a few more that also admire almost HR's that go for doubles. What if Hall would have said what Braun had said would your reaction be any different than when Braun said it?
