  1. Barry was just a courtesy interview to fill the minimum number of interviews. Washington was the hire everyone else had no chance.
  2. But muh roads!
  3. Umm it is a 2-year deal. There is just an opt out option for Hoskins after year 1. The opt out after year one for short contracts looks to be the standard now. I believe Conforto and Bell did the same last year.
  4. Hopefully it was not a NSFW one.
  5. Fairly safe bet it is true. Not sure there was anyone else they even looked at since it was this quick.
  6. Maybe Santana as the primary 1B with Hoskins at DH? He may not be 100% yet and the Brewers would want him to be able to play the full year so Santana at 1B. Maybe this was the plan and Santana wanted more than what the Brewers were willing to give to get both.
  7. I hope it keeps staying down until I get approval from work to be able to buy! One of the few times this is actually going to work out for me! Usually I can buy ETF's without having to get approval first but this one is not on the pre approved list.
  8. All lies! We were told all off season that this wouldn't happen and MA was just being cheap and wouldn't spend on anyone this off season! I refuse to believe this is true!
  9. You do know Wagner was a relief pitcher? Right? HOF that are around Billy Wagner's 27.7 WAR: Trevor Hoffman 28.0 Rollie Fingers 25.6 Bruce Sutter 24.1 Lee Smith 28.9 Unless you are willing to admit Hoffman, Sutter and Fingers shouldn't be in the HOF sure Wagner then doesn't qualify.
  10. Another disappointing HOF vote today. How do you vote Joe Mauer and Todd Helton in but not Billy Wagner?
  11. Not sure there is a HC out there that will make them play defense. That has been the problem the team just doesn’t want to play defense at all. Also they don’t have anyone that can help Dame when there is a high pick and roll. Lopez can’t do that anymore as he is to slow. I don’t think there will be much difference other than there being a new HC. The team must have really hated playing for him or something for this to happen.
  12. For Amazon it is not the subscription that matters it is that you are using their platform and your data that you are giving to them that is valuable. It is basically free marketing for them and that data is worth more than a million subscriptions. Even if you only subscribe for a couple months your data that you are providing is more valuable. I believe MLB wants to own all of the teams digital rights. Right now I think there are only like 5 teams that don’t own their digital broadcasting rights. If MLB owns them all and the regional sports TV fails it wouldn’t be as bad since MLB will own the majority of the digital broadcasting rights. This would allow MLB to equalize the revenue to all teams that MLB owns the digital broadcasting rights to. Unfortunately the Brewers don’t own their digital broadcasting rights as Bally has the contract rights for that. I think Amazon buying or investing in the few teams rights will give them a leg up on negotiating for all of MLB digital broadcasting rights in the future. I wouldn’t be surprised if in 5-10 years the only baseball games on cable will be on ESPN, Fox or FS1.
  13. Because the way cable tv is going it is going to be like streaming. If you haven’t received a new box yet well you are in for an experience. Cable will no longer come in through the coax cable soon. My grandparents just experienced this with their new cable box. It is all on WiFi no cables. The new COX boxes are basically streaming boxes. It is only a matter of time before you will have to install an app on them to watch the specialized channels like FSN, ESPN, etc. Heck you can already watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services on it. So you won’t be able to just flip to FSN everyday you will have to go to the app or watch on one of the streaming services. It is coming and the cable companies don’t care if you don’t like it. You could always just go over the air and they know you won’t do that at least 90% of their customer base won’t because they are addicted to the tv programming. Plus if the FSN’s go to Amazon 95% of the games will be on Amazon minus the few that are on Apple, Facebook and YouTube. But those would be on there regardless so you wouldn’t be able to watch them by flipping to FSN anyways. With streaming you could just flip to YouTube or Facebook very easily though.
  14. There is still a TV and digital agreement between the teams and BSG. So I don’t believe that will change anytime soon. Maybe a local channel will pickup the team like the Suns here in Phoenix. All of the Suns games are locally televised on basic and over the air. The death of BSG is a god send for being able to easily access the teams. Hopefully a local channel picks up the Brewers.
  15. Well they need that demographic. If MLB doesn’t capture that demographic then there really is no need to even go after the 50/60 demographic. The sport will be dead or very close to it if they can’t get the 20/30 demographic. I believe once cable goes away it will be far easier to follow local teams.
  16. If the Packers lose Jones I think that is going to be a bigger loss than some may think. Yes he was injured for the majority of the year but I believe he was one of the key factors on their run through the playoffs. Jones is a special RB who unfortunately has been injured. When he is healthy he brings a dynamic to the Packers offense that no one on the Packers current depth chart at RB brings. If there is no restructure and Jones is gone that is going to be a huge loss for the Packers for the '24-'25 season. This draft is extremely weak at play making RB's. I really like Isaiah Davis out of South Dakota State who is probably a round 3 or 4 pick in this draft. I like Davis over Braelon Allen as Davis has better quickness. Henderson is another RB I like but there are questions about his health. Henderson is also a very poor pass blocker but he can catch the ball and do other things extremely well. If you have a need for RB the '24 draft is not a good draft. You have a bunch of day 2 RB's in the 1-10 range.
  17. You will definitely need a Prime account plus the subscription to the games. That is how it works for all of the other premium channels on Prime. Future wise I wouldn’t expect baseball at least locally to be on cable at least not in your cable package. The way cable companies are starting to operate it will be a separate subscription at best. The way MLB is moving they are looking at the streaming providers as that is what younger people tend to use. MLB doesn’t care about the dying generations who only watch on cable. You are not their future and they won’t be catering to you going forward. This is the grim reality and truth.
  18. Again the offense goes absolutely silent for a long stretch. This is going to kill this team’s chances in the tournament. Absolutely ridiculous that this offense goes so cold at times.
  19. I didn’t mean Bobby and Marjon for Murray was just saying in general it feels like those two will be traded for someone.
  20. Probably but I wouldn't be surprised if Beauchamp and Portis are traded. Though I would prefer to see Connaughton traded.
  21. Bucks interested in Murray. Would have to trade Portis plus to get Murray.
  22. That is way too much for a reliever especially one who is best when they are only used for an inning max. I know Hader has said he would be open to pitching more after signing his deal but even at 2 innings that is a lot of money to be paying someone to only pitch 1 or 2 innings max.
  23. I like some of these trades but I don't think the Brewers will make any at least not now. Maybe they trade some of their bullpen pieces during the deadline if they are out of it. The Brewers will be a very popular team during the deadline if they are out of it. There are a lot of pieces available to be traded assuming the Brewers don't trade Burnes/Adames before the season and it doesn't look like they will be.
  24. MLB is trying to get their luxury cap similar to the NBA but are unwilling to share more revenue with the players or put in a salary floor. I am not sure why the owners want to keep on protecting the Orioles, Pirates, Reds, Guardians and Rays so much. The Orioles specifically are still well under $100mm payroll. The Brewers will be somewhere around $100-120mm in opening day payroll while the Orioles and Rays will be around $85mm and the A's right now are under $50mm. The gap between the smallest market in MLB and the lowest payroll team could be upwards of $70mm. How is that even competitive? Your lowest team is not even spending to be somewhat competitive in the league at all. There needs to be a minimum in MLB without it even with a cap on spending it won't make the league more competitive when you have a team like the A's who are just there. A $100mm floor shouldn't be a hard barrier to overcome and it can be done by all teams.
  25. I didn't look up his stats and was just going off memory of the last time I saw him pitch and came away unimpressed. Stats wise you are right he is closer to a #2 at worst.
