  1. Those games are just torture no one should watch those games. Should be against the Geneva Conventions.
  2. That is why it wouldn't happen. You won't be getting Mayer and you would have to take on a bad contract like Story. This is why the Red Sox are a bad fit. They just don't have the prospects they would be willing to give up for a Burnes trade and they wouldn't have any interest in a Burnes and Adames trade. You would have to take Story back in that deal and also be ok with not getting Mayer. The Red Sox are just a bad fit all around for the Brewers. You either take junk back for a Burnes and Adames trade or you just avoid the situation since you know there is no match.
  3. This isn't 100% true. If a player was selected after the 10th round and then attends a JUCO college they can be designated as a draft-and-follow. The player would be able to sign between the end of their JUCO season and before the next draft. So drafted in 2023 after the 10th round the player doesn't sign and then goes to a JUCO. The team that drafted that player can try and sign them once the JUCO season finishes and before the 2024 MLB draft. Any amount over $225,000 counts against the teams available draft pool. https://www.mlb.com/news/draft-rule-changes-with-new-cba https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/checking-in-on-the-7-draft-and-follow-prospects-from-the-2022-class/
  4. The NFL has just got way too boring for me to watch a full game. I can't stand the stupid penalties the defense gets handed and has to play with one hand handcuffed to their opposite foot. Even with that disadvantage the offenses still have problems with actually scoring and putting drives together. Then the referees are completely useless and decide to let the players play on pushing each other and then the next play calls a penalty on the same thing that happened in the previous play. But the current play there was less than what happened during the previous play. The officiating is just dumb in the NFL now. There is no consistency and it is like the NFL wants it this way. It makes the games hard to watch and is overall frustrating trying to keep up with what is or isn't considered pass interference or illegal contact. At some times the defender will be all over the WR in an obvious PI situation and no call is made. The next you are seeing the defender barely touch the WR and PI being called. The wasted time in trying to get someone to jump off sides and then an O-lineman flinches and called for a false start is also getting aggravating. How about the NFL just cut the play clock down to 15 seconds. If you can't get a play off in 15 seconds then stop with the stupid hard counts that add nothing to the game. The game is just a slog to watch now. Boring boring boring boring boring boring.

    Pizza

It is not possible to have too much sauce. It just is not. 99.999999999% of the time when I order a pizza and even if I request extra sauce there isn't enough sauce.
  6. The Red Sox wouldn’t have any interest in Adames. You would have to take Story back in that trade along with Mayer not being in the trade. The Red Sox would have 0 interest in including Mayer in a Burnes and Adames trade.
  7. It is not without a guaranteed long term contract with Burnes. You have to include that otherwise you won’t get Harrison.
  8. Baez is definitely destined to be playing somewhere other than SS. Pratt may also be destined to be playing somewhere other than SS but I have more confidence in Pratt sticking at SS than Baez. Defense does matter especially at SS. Every MLB team is going to want someone who can field there and not be a butcher. A positive for both Pratt and Baez is that their bat will basically play at any position. Finding a home defensively where they are comfortable is far more important than an OPS at a certain position. You can't just look at a players bat and say they are the best at that position. It just doesn't work that way. Baez looks like he is destined to be a corner OF if he can't clean up his defense. At 5'9" he is also limited to where he can play so 1B is probably not going to be an option. He may also be topped out in terms of power production already while Pratt has more room to grow.
  9. The Red Sox just don't line up with the Brewers all that well for a trade for Burnes.
  10. This trade would require Burnes signing a long term contract with the Giants. Without that you are only getting Whisenhunt, Bart and a lower level prospect. Without this the Giants won’t make the trade.
  11. The Brewers get the value. The QO value is owned by the Brewers and is already added into Burnes value. When you are calculating Burnes trade value the QO offer is Burnes minimum value to the Brewers. Add that compensation to Burnes value without that and you get about $30mm in excess value. So $2mm from the compensation from the Brewers holding onto Burnes and getting the draft pick plus his value of $28mm.
  12. Julien for Frelick would be about fair as fair can get in a one to one trade. I think the Brewers turn this down before the Twins do. Defensively Julien doesn't fit for the Brewers as it looks like Julien's best position is either LF, 2B or 1B. His arm is not good enough to play RF, SS or 3B. He is also limited speed wise so he is stuck at 2B, 1B or LF. Defensively I think he would be fine at 2B but the Brewers already have a bunch of fine at 2B defensively prospects. Bat wise he has more power than Frelick but I think Frelick has the better hit tool. If I am trading Frelick and it is to the Twins it would be for Lee and not Julien.
  13. I think something like Leiter, Porter and Abimelic Ortiz (1B/DH) would be close to Burnes value. Porter has about $20mm in surplus value with Leiter having about $8mm and Ortiz with about $4mm. That gets you to $32mm in excess value. Which is about where Burnes is sitting at. I believe Burnes value is a bit lower in the current trade market so this would be a bit of an overpay by the Rangers.
  14. So you are saying the Pacers are actually good then?
  15. OMG!
  16. Hopefully the after the win goes better than last time.
  17. Because it is winter time and there is nothing else to do. Does there really need to be a reason?
  18. I am not saying that is their value. I am saying that is what the Dodgers offered for Burnes and Adames and I don't think the Brewers are getting offers for either that are coming close to their values hence why I think their value is far lower than what their value is perceived to be. Meaning the Brewers are not going to accept these offers and are just going to keep both.
  19. I am going to assume this is what the Dodgers offered for Burnes and Adames. I still don’t believe Burnes has the value people think he has. The Brewers are more than likely going to keep Burnes and Adames as the offers don’t look like they are going to be much more than what the Dodgers offered.
  20. Don’t the Brewers have a roster crunch anyways even if MLB doesn’t reduce? The Brewers only had one rookie team this year and that was extremely crowded. Not to mention all of the DSL players they maybe bringing over this year and I seem to remember there being some issues with the size of those two teams in the DSL.
  21. I am wondering if a state or city will challenge this deferred money that it should also be taxed by them and not just the state Ohtani resides in or doesn't if he leaves the country. In the past the amounts were not as large as what Ohtani will be paid in the future and compared to what the state or city would be taxing Ohtani on if he were to be paid his full amount. I don't think a state or city will challenge this but it brings up some interesting questions. OK make it two instead of three. Still two years in a row that the Giants were left to go to prom with mom.
  22. I wonder if this is something with the Giants or just the FA's not liking the team construction. That is 3 now that have completely bailed on the Giants with competitive offers (Judge, Ohtani and Correa).
  23. I think Toronto would be more interested in Burnes than Yelich. Bichette and Vlad are both FA's in 2026. They have one more season of the young players similar to what the Brewers were facing going into 2010 and then into 2011 being Prince's final year. Do the Blue Jays think of trading Vlad and Bichette if their season goes bad or do they trade now for someone like Burnes. Yelich doesn't really make any sense for the Blue Jays. It just adds salary and doesn't really fix a problem for them. If the Blue Jays don't sign someone in FA like Yamamoto then I think they will pivot to the trade market. If the Blue Jays are unwilling to trade Tiedemann then I don't think they are going to get the top pitchers on the trade market. The Blue Jays secondary prospects are just not worth as much to get a pitcher like Burnes or Cease.
  24. Hader couldn't develop a change up like Sale as it is very difficult to do from the low 3/4 arm slot. It is extremely difficult to get on top of the ball from that arm slot which you need to do to have a successful change up. Hader just couldn't do that consistently. His change up in 2017 was rated as a 45 which is a below average pitch. Hader became a reliever because he couldn't consistently throw the change up and that was mainly due to his arm slot. If Misio will become a reliever it will mainly be due to injury concerns. Hader and Misio are completely different pitchers and there is no comparison other than looking at K% and BB%. I think MIsio has another year but he could see an MLB mound in '24 as a reliever. I believe the Brewers will want to build up his innings more so I am not sure that is 100% in the plans for the Brewers but it is possible he sees MLB action in '24 if everything goes right.
  25. I can't believe no one else has posted this. The Brewers have new minority owners in Ralph and Shelly Stayer. They own the Johnsonville LLC. Yes that Johnsonville that makes sausage. https://www.mlb.com/news/johnsonville-llc-joins-brewers-ownership-group
