    They weren't. They told other GM's he wasn't available. Burnes didn't come onto the market until this past off season.

    Except this was a GM asking for a ton. Difference between fans making proposals and actual GM’s who have to deal with other GM’s. The ask was extremely high like Holliday, Mayo, Povich and more. That was just to start the conversation with the Tigers.

    Rumors for Skubal were that the Tigers were asking for a whole MLB team for him. Other MLB exec's were overly frustrated with the Tigers GM for his asking price for Skubal. Skubal was never available at a reasonable price. He probably won't be available this off season either.

    I think skipping AAA probably helped Chourio out more than it hurt him. There are very few MLB type pitchers in AAA. The off speed pitches you see in MLB starters is just not there in AAA. A prospect may face one MLB caliber pitcher a week in AAA and may only face one MLB caliber starting pitcher a month in AAA if they are lucky. Development wise AAA is just not a great place for a prospect. The breaking pitches are not anywhere close to MLB quality and at most you are facing #4 or #5 type starting pitchers and maybe a MLB teams 5th or 6th option out of the bullpen. AAA to me is just a holding spot for prospects teams don't have a place for or for AAAA type players. Then you also have the occasional MLB vet past their prime still playing in AAA.

    How many innings are the Pirates going to let Skenes throw this year? He is currently at 108 innings pitched and only pitched about 135 innings last year between college and the minors. He is only 27 innings or about 4-5 starts away from reaching the number of innings he pitched last year which should be about his last start in August or his first start in September. If it takes him 5 starts that should put his innings match in September start 1. He would then have about 3 more starts left in September and if he averages 6 innings pitched that puts him at about 150 innings pitched on the season. Do the Pirates shut him down if they make the playoffs or stick him in the bullpen?

    Defensively definitely an absolute downgrade. Offensively Bell can be good but he is so streaky.

    Bell just came back alive recently and is on an insane hot streak. I don't believe he will continue what he is doing and will probably drop back down to a 100 wRC+. He isn't a force that he once was.

    Great now we will have to deal with why is he smiling when he is slumping like with Adames, Gomez and I am probably forgetting someone else that some posters would complain about them smiling.

    I am confident it will only be a .25 cut and since the fed meeting will be before the August jobs report comes out I don't think there will be much to sway the fed to do anything more than a .25 drop in rates.

    Sometimes plans don’t go as expected. You put your strategy in place and you execute sometimes your strategy fails. It is not like they failed extremely hard here. They missed out on one player in their 10 picks that counted. Payne I also believe is better than some are giving him credit for. Going back to the 2016 draft would you have picked the 5th 6th or 7th ranked pick at the 5th pick or the 90th ranked prospect at the 5th pick? Sometimes the rankings just absolutely suck and don’t really match up with the players true talents. College bats tend to be ranked higher than their HS counterparts even if they are very similar in terms of talent level. The rankings tend to be more conservative and favor college players over HS players.

    The HOF game should never be played it is a waste of time. Either the NFL needs to move this out about a week or two or just not play it at all. The players are not ready to play yet and no one good ever plays in it. It is like watching the practice squads play against each other.

    Do you think Adames is a good middle of the order bat? There really wasn’t a replacement for Yelich at the trade deadline. I am not sure why some think there was someone to replace him. Robert was probably the only one who could provide you with Yelich like performance available. The other option Vlad was never an option as the Jays never made him available. The question is then do you give up the prospects for Robert given his injury history?

    Been calling it for awhile now but today's meeting almost guarantees we only see one rate drop this year if there will be one. Powell hinted at a rate drop but didn't say there will be one. I don't think he would declare one anyways if he even knew there would be one. Most likely rate drop will be in September and it is looking like a .25 drop. They could push it out to October or November which I believe would be Powell's preferred timeline so it would be after the elections. Then we get into a maybe another rate drop in February or March of 2025. It is still possible that they do nothing this year especially if the employment numbers don't change all that much or improve.

    It is funny that the White Sox didn't trade all of their players they could have like the Marlins did. The White Sox may have the worst record in MLB this season but they still won't get the #1 pick as the best pick they can have is #10 since they picked in the top 6 in this years draft. Draft rule changes with new CBA WWW.MLB.COM The new Collective Bargaining Agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association contains several changes to the Draft, most notably the creation of a lottery for the top six... Is tanking dead? Probably not because it resets for the '26 draft for the White Sox but then they won't be able to pick again in the top 6 until the '28 draft. The CBA isn't clear on if it is their actual pick or if it is their ranking. I think it is their actual pick so it will alternate every other year and every two years for teams like the Brewers.
