  1. For the Orioles I think a starting point for them in a Burnes trade would be Norby/Povich/McDermott as one of the headliners and then two of Wagner, Rhodes, Haskin or Fabian. Which the Brewers would turn down before they even finished saying Norby. If the Orioles became desperate then maybe you could get Ortiz from them and then add McDermott to the list of two of. They have Mayo as untouchable.
  2. I don't think it is a mess for the White Sox. They need to add a lot of talent to their minor leagues. They have Cease who is a good #3 or #4 type pitcher with a reasonable amount of control and cost. They should be getting a lot back for Cease. Baltimore is the best fit for the White Sox but unfortunately for them that means they will have to take a lower deal than they would be comfortable with. I have heard none of the Orioles top 5 prospects are available in a trade. One person familiar with the White Sox has said they got absolutely no where with the Orioles and a deal died before even exchanging names for Cease. The White Sox also had a discussion with the Braves and that went no where. They also said another team talked with the White Sox but that is as far as it got for Cease. Teams were also told no on Robert and he is not available. He also said the Brewers checked in on the White Sox to see if they would deal Jimenez and that didn't go anywhere either. The White Sox will not give their players away and have high costs for Jimenez and Cease. They didn't say how high but they don't believe Cease or Jimenez will get moved. They put the chances at 10% that either gets moved and less so for Cease than Jimenez. Take this with a fine grain of salt. I have known this person for a long time now and they have been right about other White Sox moves in the past but some of these may just be rumors and they were just repeating what they have heard. Though the Cease stuff they are very confident in.
  3. It is neutral because the Brewers also have the same high asking price for Burnes. I posted an article from the Athletic previously about a Burnes trade to the Red Sox that went absolutely no where.
  4. This would probably get more traction in the minor league forum where I think this should have gone? @Brock Beauchamp
  5. Yes and we have an abundance of oil in the US also but we see how well that has worked out. This is what a lithium mining operation looks like: Lithium mining is going to be like oil refineries NOT IN MY BACKYARD! So we can find all the lithium we want but there is no way the EPA will allow for anything like the above in the US. We will be dependent on other countries for this mostly from South America and Asia. So the cost for lithium will more than likely rise than it will go down. Also mining for lithium uses up 500,000 gallons or 1.9 million liters of water per metric ton of lithium. I think that is more than what it takes to mine for gold.
  6. I still don’t believe a coaching change will do all that much. The team needs some more youth at C, SF and SG. Probably won’t see it as the team doesn’t have any draft picks to make these changes. Also the Bucks aren’t trading any of their key veterans to get these players either.
  7. Quero comes in at #3 in the top 10 for catching prospects. https://www.mlb.com/news/top-catching-prospects-for-2024?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share
  8. Unless I missed an announcement in that article it also states Gord Ash is retiring, when was this announced? Or am I just getting old and forgot about this?
  9. Thank you captain obvious.
  10. Anything that would impact FA would be a concern for the players union. The luxury tax is not something the players union likes. In the last round the players union wanted assurance there would be a minimum to go a long with a more restrictive tax. I believe the top cap would have been more like the NBA and the players union wanted there to be a minimum which the league rejected. Having a smaller or more restrictive top doesn't really do anything competitively when there is no floor cap.
  11. I don't think the players union and the large market teams will agree to any changes unless there is a salary floor that increases with the cap. Even making a slight change to the rules on the accounting side will need some other changes like this. The owners as a whole weren't all that keen on adding a salary floor in the last CBA. I don't believe the owners will make any changes to the luxury tax rules because they are unwilling to do anything about the floor. I still believe a $100mm floor is perfectly achievable by all of the small market teams. There shouldn't be a single team under $100mm in MLB. If a team can't afford that as a minimum then it is time to remove them from MLB and become a AAA or AA team.
  12. Lower emissions of fully ICE cars. They are also lower in cost you can get more people to buy thus lowering emissions more. If you can move 30% of vehicles on the road now to hybrids it will have a higher net positive than the current 1-5% of EV’s.
  13. The rebate for EV's should be going to hybrids only with no rebate or government subsidy for EV's. Actually there should be no government subsidy for anything. But if you want to help the environment then giving the subsidy to hybrids should have been the go to option and not EV's. This would have made hybrids more affordable to lower income drivers. Lower income individuals tend to have older cars with worse emissions. Higher income individuals tend to have newer cars with better emissions. The government once again got it backwards not surprising as our politicians sure love to stick it to the middle and lower class.
  14. Can never go wrong with a generac. That is all I know.
  15. MLB Pipeline has Misio ranked 5th in their top 10 RHP prospects. https://www.mlb.com/news/top-right-handed-pitching-prospects-for-2024?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share
  16. There has to be some releases or the Brewers have been given an advance notice that they can have two teams in the rookie league this year. If the Brewers are not able to get a second rookie league team this is going to be a rather large roster crunch.
  17. I believe it is more of an efficiency thing if I am remembering what my friend told me when he did this. If you live in place where there are houses closely packed together or even loosely packed together the driver would have to do this for every driveway and then possibly have to come down your road 2-4 more times than they normally would have to. Ideally I think the city, county and state only want the driver to go down a street twice. Once on one side and another on the other side. I bet if you lived on a dead end street where they could pile up the snow they wouldn't use an angle. As the snow could then be piled up at the dead end. Though this makes it more dangerous for the driver as they will need to be able to backup and then maneuver out of the dead end. Then you have to deal with the people living there being impatient that they can't get out of their driveway because the truck is backing up and maneuvering out of the dead end. Though this is usually done with a smaller vehicle or not at all. So your driveway gets blocked because it is easier and more efficient for the driver to move the snow like this. If the driver did this with a straight angle they would have to dump the snow somewhere. And since they can't just dump it in the middle of an intersection it goes instead into the side of the road which means it goes into your driveway. Also I believe angled is better for the roads which means less repairs in the spring, summer and fall. If you really hate it move to a state that doesn't have snow.
  18. Less than the number they signed last year:
  19. Apparently ESPN will be part of the NFL. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-reportedly-in-advanced-talks-with-espn-to-buy-stake-in-sports-network-011850735.html So lets just make it official and just rename ESPN to the NFL Network as that is what it will be other than for college basketball/football and some NBA games. Get ready for 99% NFL on Sports Center which is just a slight increase from 95%. The other 0.9% of Sports Center will be NBA and everyone else gets .01% time.
  20. The Panthers haven't had a winning season since 2017. With the Panthers coming in with a 33-year old WR in Thielen and a RB by the name of Miles Sanders (who is that?) I am not sure why so many had them at 7.5 wins versus 6 wins for the Texans. I think the Texans over performed but I don't think switching Stroud over to the Panthers gets them more than 5 wins. Maybe they get to 4 wins instead of 2 but I am not sure that even happens. Young has looked bad but he has no one to throw to and no one behind him to run the ball. The OL also looks extremely weak. Would the Panthers be better off at QB? Yes they would be better off at QB but overall team wise I don't see them being better than what they are. Then on the defensive side the Panthers are worse than the Bears on the pass rush which I didn't think was possible. The Texans overall just have a better team than the Panthers and not just at QB. If you switched Stroud with Young on the Texans I think Young does better with the Texans than he has done with the Panthers. Stroud is the better QB and on the better team overall. Young is stuck on an absolutely awful team with Young being the best talent on both sides and by a wide margin. You can't say that about Stroud and the Texans, while Stroud is probably their best player it is not by as big of a gap as it is for Young with the Panthers.
  21. I don’t think the overall record for the Panthers would have changed if they went with Stroud. The Panthers just have no offensive talent on their team. Their OL is also bad. It doesn’t matter who the QB is if they don’t have anyone to throw to or are constantly on their back due to the OL being a turnstile. You can’t just draft a QB without also giving that QB some weapons on offense. The Panthers went with the get the QB and then ???? strategy.
  22. I am not sure the Brewers match up all that well with the Marlins. What I mean by this is I don't believe there are pieces that the Marlins would want that the Brewers are willing to part with. Obviously Chourio would be of interest to the Marlins but I don't believe you are getting Arraez or Luzardo back in a trade for someone like Frelick or MItchell. Turang also doesn't make any sense for the Marlins.
  23. That is a huge blow.
  24. Bitcoin has an actual use case for it. It can be used for many things especially the technology behind Bitcoin. NFT’s were just limited digital art which you could just copy rather easily.
  25. The one thing that I still fear for the economy is the quantitative tightening. There has never been a full cycle of tightening we are basically in uncharted waters for this.
