How about winning a second World Series? The SF Giants have won 3 world series in 2010, 2012 and 2014, why can't Stearns' Brewers try to accomplish the same.
No way I'd let Stearns go, he's doing a phenomenal job. I'd give Stearns the POBO and GM titles and a contract extension immediately and let him run the show. IMO, Stearns has been a huge upgrade over Doug Melvin, and I believe he will achieve a World Series title for the Brewers under his tenure.
Davis stats in Sept is not good, IMO he should not be the NLCS roster. Santana is our best pinch hitter and he should be in the roster. For me, the only roster spot in contest is between Granderson vs Cendeno depending on whether Counsell wants 11 or 12 pitchers. I'd keep Ganderson and keep the roster the same as the NLDS.
The new head coach Mike Budenholzer has been fantastic and this team is better than last season with the additions of Lopez and Ersan. I predict this team will win a playoff series and they may even match the 2000-01 team in making the conference finals. Looks like I will renew my league pass subscription to watch the Bucks, I think they will have a very good season like the Brewers have this year.
I'm surprise to learn that Kratz was in the 2014 Royal's 25-man world series roster with Cain and Moustakas. Kratz was the backup catcher, but unfortunately he didn't get to play and they lost to the Giants. Kratz has turned out to be another great low-cost acquisition by Stearns.
The first playoff game was 5am and I was asleep during the game. The second playoff game was 4am and I was asleep during the game. The next playoff game is at 4:30am and I will be asleep. I guess this playoffs is hardly nerve racking for me other than waking up to check the results.
I'm leaning towards picking up Soria's option for next year, he's another closer along with Hader, Knebel and Jeffress, the Four Horsemen of the Brewers bullpen apocalypse.
Huge Win! the current winning streak is now 10 games. Another well managed game by Counsell, the unusual lineup of Perez (SS, batting 6th) and Shaw (2B, batting 7th) has worked, and JJ with the huge 2 inning comeback from yesterday's blown save.
It was a well managed game by Counsell, the creative bullpen game went into the 8th with a one-hit shutout. It's just unfortunate the offense wasted opportunities to score the 3rd run and JJ blew the save. But very glad we still won the game which is all that matters.
Guerra did pitched well against the Rockies back in August going 8 innings, and he looked good out of the pen down the stretch. I think those were the factors in his selection.
