  1. Me too, he was my first choice to replace Yost. I remember back then some fans including myself were pushing for Kremblas to replace Yost for months in this forum. Then there was a rumor from a blog that Haudricourt referenced that said Ned was going to be fired and got our hopes up real high. That rumor turned out to be false and got Ned really upset. Then there was an unpleasant conversation between Ash and Kremblas (probably on the lack of promotion opportunity), and Kremblas was subsequently fired by Melvin probably to appease his buddy Ned who was afraid of his rival Kremblas. Kremblas was an outstanding minor league manager for the Brewers over the years, sad to see him go because of politics.
  2. With the exception of Prince who will cost $10.5M next year, we need to go cheap on the other position players. This means that players like Cameron, Kendall, Hardy and Hart could be replaced with players like Escobar, Gamel, McGehee, Rivera, Catalanotto, Iribarren, Gerut, Heether and Salome next year. Weeks and Braun are still relatively cheap next year. I also think we should let McClung go and buyout Looper. With these savings, we really need to upgrade our pitching, especially the rotation. Our pitching staff next year currently consists of: Yo, Suppan, Bush, Parra, CV, Coffey, Stetter, DiFelice, Riske, Weathers (option pickup).
  3. Great news. I'm very fine to go further and switch Kendall to the little used backup catcher the rest of the season. Rivera has proven to be a better bat than Kendall which is critical now. And if Rivera does well, he could provide the Brewers a much cheaper option to replace Kendall next season.
  4. Wow, I didn't have time to watch the brewers for a week and return to learn of this bloodletting by DM. I think DM has as much to blame as the players, he failed to improve the rotation after CC left. Most pundits had predicted that the brewers will not make postseason due to SP, so what's happening now isn't a surprise to most non brewers fans. We know that good pitching is essential to success, but we went into the season with a weaker rotation than the Cubs and Cards. Instead of being concerned and aggressive in improving pitching during preseason, DM seems unbothered, thinking that he could get a better deal closer to trade deadline. I think the postseason goal was driven on hope rather than realism when DM didn't assemble a pitching staff good enough right from the start. Seems to me, Castro and JJ are scapegoats for DM's failings to address pitching.
  5. If Cameron is going to cost upwards of $7M next year, think I might to let him go instead. I'd also let Kendall and McClung walk to save money. Use whatever savings we can muster to improve our pitching, especially the rotation. Lesson learnt from this and last season is that good pitching is vital for success. Thankfully next season is the last for Suppan, Hall and Riske and we can finally clear their awful contracts, but sadly they will cost the Brewers $28.4M for 2010. Yucks!
  6. No, I've never blast Yost for doing that.
  7. Yeah, Hardy's trade value was really high last offseason, we could've got a good SP for him but now we may have missed that opportunity.
  8. I think it would wise for the Brewers to carry 13 pitchers like what LaRussa has been doing. It would be better to have an additional pitcher rather than Gerut.
  9. Just my little vent about DM. I remember during preseason reading many pundits predict that the Brewers will not make the playoffs due to starting pitching. Many of these pundits were unbias, but even some brewers fans were also concerned about the SP. I think the SP thing is a legitimate concern so it's kinda disappointing that DM didn't do more to improve the SP during preseason. During that time, DM's thinking was that due to the recession some teams may offload their good but expensive players rather cheaply trade-wise later on, he also seems to think that our offense can carry us through. Unfortunately, things didn't work the way DM had envisioned and we are now in a bind as a result. I think DM deserves blame and should be accountable for this plight. But it's not over yet, I really hope and pray for the team to turn this thing around.
  10. Yeah, Counsell has been awesome this year. Seems like since his altered batting stance in preseason, his batting has improved greatly.
  11. I think there is almost no way Macha comes back next year without an extension. Personally, I do not subscribe to the "lame duck" theory in this context. It seems to me much more like an excuse by GMs to give themselves or their selected managers a form of golden parachute. I find that the protrayed "effects" of a manager in his contract year are way overblown and not justified. This "lame duck" theory is the reason why the Brewers are still paying Yost $1.1M this year.
  12. Totally agree. Yost truly deserved to be fired, I believe that we would not have made the playoffs last year if Yost had remained. I felt that Sveum deserved to manage the team this year and was disappointed that DM did not offer him the job. But DM chose Macha instead and I think it is fair to give Macha more time, he has not lead this team for a full season yet. Macha has a 2 year gauranteed contract ending 2010, if he does not produce the desired results by next season, we can get a new manager when his contract is over.
  13. Have to agree, time to sell and retool for next year. Guys like Hoffman, Cameron, Counsell and Lopez could be attractive to contenders. Hardy and Looper could be attractive trading chips too.
  14. Can Bill Hall pitch? Heard he has a strong arm.
  15. Ugh, Yo getting screwed by his OF. Use your brains Hart, it's a very bright sunny day wear shades!
  16. Guess Hall can't use that getting Lasik surgery in the offseason excuse like last season, he now has better eye sight than most people but still hit worse than last season and Ks too much.
  17. Read that the Jays are shopping Alex Rios too. Think I wouldn't mind taking on Rios's terrible contract in a deal with Halladay provided we can do a deal like this: Hardy, Suppan, Hart, Swindle (he's Canadian) and a choice of either Dillard, Heether or Katin, for Halladay and Rios.
  18. I'm disappointed that DM did not call Ricciardi about Halladay yet, what on earth is he waiting for? For a guy who claims to work from 9am to midnight everyday to improve this team, he sure is taking a long time to act upon it.
  19. Parra, Escobar, Dillard, Swindle and Salome could be comparable to the offer of Beau Jones, Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. And I'd be willing to add another pitcher or hitter from Nashville to the list for Halladay. I really, really hope DM is in serious discussions with Ricardi to get a Halladay deal done asap.
  20. I think DM is more wrong than Braun. I don't find much wrong in what Braun had said, we do need better starting pitching to achieve our goal this year.
  21. Hardy is worth 2 top prospects, so a deal that has him in is close to aquiring anyone. Halladay is awesome, no doubt, but who can make an offer better than Hardy and Hart? It would have to be a 3 team deal, as Toronto has no use for Hart, but those happen. Hart to Atlanta for Medlin and another prospect that Toronto likes, and we're getting closer.Adding Halladay to the rotation would be CC like tremendous, I'd be willing to add Parra with Hardy and Hart for him.
  22. Yo definitely deserves to be on the all-star team.
  23. Man, I really feel terrible for Roddick, he played amazingly well but just came up short. For over 4 hours, Federrer couldn't even break Roddick's serve, that 2nd set tie break was a killer for Roddick.
  24. What a mistake by the Cubs for trading DeRosa and letting McGehee go.
