  1. Macha is pretty conservative on the running game anyway, the Brewers are dead last in stolen bases. I don't blame Macha though, I wouldn't want the #2 hitter to attempt steals with Braun and Prince up next.
  2. I really hope Macha don't move JJ out of the 2 hole. I believe it would best to stick with JJ at 2 long term, much like Braun at 3 and Prince at 4.
  3. Good plate discipline by Hart and Braun. Very Nice and a little different from last season. Keep it up!
  4. He should be pitching a lot more than 7 innings over his next 4 starts. The bullpen would be seriously overtaxed if Suppan pitches only one or two innings per start, not to mention the potential disastrous effects to the Brewers 09 season. Edit: My bad, I think you meant 3 runs in 7IP in each of his next 4 starts. My answer is yes.
  5. I guess my threshold for Suppan is a lot less than yours, to me a 5+ ERA after 5 starts is enough to demote Suppan to the bullpen. I hope the Brewers give Suppan a short leash.
  6. Yo is a stud!! He's our ace and probably our best hitting pitcher ever. We've a good shot of returning to the playoffs, if Yo stays healthy all season. Great job by our pitchers today with the exception of Stetter. Yo, Coffey and CV were fabulous. Nice Win! Keep it up Brewers.
  7. 13 - 9. I'm confident of the 2009 Brewers.
  8. I bet Prince and his agent Boras are now regretting not taking up the Brewers $60M/5year contract extension last year. Last year Prince made $670K, I serious doubt he will be able to get $59.3M over the next 4 years. Prince and Boras are now paying for their greed. Per Hauricourt's article, Boras filed for $8M while the Brewers file for $6M. Based on the current economic climate, I think the Brewers will win this if it goes to arby.
  9. I guess Mark A has finally seen the light about those damn "pinstripes" and renounced his Yankee fanship. This is too far from a level playing field, and that is very unfair for us Brewers fans.
  10. Me too. I really like that idea.
  11. I'm ok with getting Looper provided it's only 2 years for around $5M+ per year. No point overpaying for him.
  12. I hope the Brewers at least inquire about Derek Lowe and maybe make a serious offer, I prefer Lowe to Perez.
  13. News about this Cameron trade talks with the Yankees keep getting worse, I'm very glad DM came to his senses and stop pursuing it. It's pretty obvious that the Yanks are playing hardball, and they're trying their utmost to lowball and squeeze the Brewers. The Yanks are insincere and terrible trade partners for us, no point wasting too much time on them. I really don't understand why DM needs to clear Cameron's contract to sign a $10M+ pitcher. The Brewers should be able to afford one even with Cameron on the team.
  14. The starting CFer is Cameron, if there is no Melky.
  15. Yeah, no on Jenkins, I rather have Gross back instead.
  16. I rather have Gross than Melky. If Gross gets non tendered, maybe the Brewers should go get him back.
  17. For Wolf, I'd only offer a one year deal + one year team option max, three years is too risky for me and could turn out bad like the Suppan contract. I think maybe people underestimate the motivational power of the contract year to many players. it has driven guys like Burnett and Sheets to work harder and pitch a lot more innings this year as compared to their previous years. Since his last contract year in 2005, Burnett didn't even pitch close to 200 innings unitl this year. Since his last contract year in 2004. Sheets didn't even pitch close to 200 innings until this year. It's often good to have expensive players in their contract year, as they will be working hard for their next contract unless they plan to retire.
  18. If Smoltz's arm has fully recovered from surgery, getting him for one year would be very nice. And as many have mentioned, getting the Unit for one year would be really nice too. For me, I'm not as keen on Moyer and Wolf. They are not as good as Smoltz and the Unit, and they are not worth the multi-year contracts that they are seeking.
  19. The Brewers should be able to afford an additional $10M pitcher in 09 even if they don't trade Cameron.
  20. To me this "slight" profit statement by MA is a little puzzling, I thought it should be more than slight profit for the 2008 season.
  21. Melvin has leverage, he can just keep Cameron or shop him to other teams. Afterall, Cameron is a much better player than Melky and has only one year left in his contract at a reasonable price. Having Cameron back for the 09 season is not a bad thing. The Yankees on the other hand do need to upgrade their CF as their current options are terrible. It certainly won't be easy for them to trade for a good CF and the FA options are not that good. Melky currently has very little trade value in the marketplace, despite the delusions of the Yankees.
  22. Yeah, if the Yankees want money, DM better ask for Hughes in return.
