  1. I wonder if we'll pick up Cameron's $10 million option after the season. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  2. I agree. 8-10 weeks sounds about right.
  3. Like Molitor to a certain extent, no telling what his final numbers would have been had he stayed on the field more.
  4. The company I work for represents some of the players and they have talked about reading message boards from time to time. Although they have never mentioned this one specifically this is one of the better known boards so I can imagine this is one of them that they read occasionally. There is a basketball board that I moderate that has a Bucks player posting. He posts openly (Charlie Bell). There are several members of the Bucks front office (not high level) that post there too but not openly and many others who read the board as well as several members of the media who read that board. I think players are always curious about what's being said about them and places like this are a goldmine for major league marketing teams.
  5. It's simple. Garry Howard is in charge and it's all downhill from the top. The Brewers and Bucks coverage are one in the same. Tom Enlund and Tom Haudricourt are old timers who are still covering games as if it's the 70's. Howard throws in ace soccer reporter Charles Garnder to add his insight and he adds Witrado for reasons completely unknown. If you go to Bucks games you'll see Garry Howard with his comfy comped courtside seat every game. The reporter he has covering the Bucks? Up in row 26 of section 212. Funny stuff. If you are happy with the MJS's coverage, that's great. Buy your paper and enjoy the read. The whole purpose of forums like this is to discuss various topics. I didn't start this thread but I did add my opinion. Some have the same opinion and some don't. If yours is different than mine, that's fine with me. It's too bad you haven't taken the time to actually tell us why you think Haudricourt and the MJS offer great Brewer coverage.
  6. Yeah lots of Twinks fans come down here for the series and I can't blame them, wanting to see their team somewhere besides the Dumpty Dome. But there is no way a team 300 miles away that plays in a different league is a bigger rival than a team 90 miles away who's in our division.
  7. The slo-mo camera they had today was great, especially in HD. Too bad it belongs to Colorado. Now if they could only figure out how to get the right count to show up on the graphic.
  8. Then how about allowing one of your best run producers to try to drive in an important insurance run instead of hoping Bill Hall will come through against a right handed pitcher.
  9. Anderson today: "Maybe Ned left it up to Corey whether he wanted to bunt or not". Schroeder: "Do you really think Corey wanted to bunt?" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  10. Trenni reported during the game today that Ned was "thinking about" flipping Cameron and Hardy.
  11. "I consider all of our relievers 8th or 9th inning guys." There are no defined roles." Then, after not allowing Villa to pitch the 8th after a 10 pitch 7th, "Mota is our 8th inning guy."
  12. You're absolutely right Bernie. TH (and AW) fit right into the MJS model of mediocrity. They might as well hire Davey Nelson too.
  13. What's the average percentage of road wins in the National League?
  14. Yeah that whole badger blogger incident was too funny.
  15. Exactly. He asks the obvious questions but doesn't follow up when Yost gives ridiculous answers. I know some say that a beat writer can't ask those follow up questions, that he has to maintain a good "relationship" with the manager and players. That's playing it safe. Why bother? Just let the AP beat writer file a story and the MJS can reprint it.
  16. One or two of those were mine and I apologize. I was responding to other posts but I wandered off the topic of Haudricourt.
  17. That's what makes his "reporting" so sad. For those who do watch the games he adds nothing. And those who don't watch the games could read the generic AP game recap and get the same thing. Whether his job is "stressful" is irrelevant . TH is a lot like Yost actually. An average (at his absolute best) beat writer. But that's to be expected with a rag like the MJS and a sports department headed up by Garry Howard. Howard is the esteemed editor who gets free courtside seats to the Bucks games and makes his Bucks beat writer sit 26 rows up in Section 216. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  18. Let's all go back to happier times http://mybrewers.mlblogs.com/my_brewers/images/yost1029.jpg
  19. Oh oh, now you'll really make his wife mad.
  20. I agree about blogging in general. BUT, except for the whole Yost being fired thing, TH's (and AW's) blogs mostly consist of posting the lineup for the game and announcing player moves.
  21. I guess if your job stresses you out that makes it stressful. I just rarely read anything TH writes that I didn't already know by watching the game myself. Read his "game report" from last night's game. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=759581 It's pathetic. And it's the same every game. I don't care of TH is "tough" on Yost or not, I just want some decent reporting and we don't have that with the MJS.
  22. I have never said being a beat writer is easy. It was the term stressful I found to be extremely inaccurate. I find Haudricourt to be an average writer. If you watch the game and listen to Ned's post game press conference you will have everything that TH will write. He rarely adds anything else. Witrado must having something on Howard to get a beat writer gig. He's horrible.
  23. Please don't tell me you think being a beat writer is "stressful". Being a paramedic, that's stressful. Serving in Iraq, that's stressful. Writing about a baseball game and inserting various random quotes from players and the manager....not stressful.
  24. There are a lot of stressful jobs in the world. Baseball beat writer is not one of them. I will agree with you about Garry Howard being a stooge though. Moe Howard, Curly Howard, Shemp Howard, Garry Howard.
