  1. I don't see what being at the game vs. watching on TV has to do with it. I'll be at the game tonight. Does that mean my analysis and opinions will make more sense than someone who watches on TV?
  2. It's a sad state of affairs when we have to debate someone like Tavarez. It's like when some Bucks fans were debating whether Royal Ivey would make a difference. Hopefully the Brewers already have his plane ticket bought and as soon as Riske is activated he's gone.
  3. Ths IRS lien is from 2005 and Prince was offered an extension earlier this year so he obviously doesn't feel the need to sign now and take care of the debt. It appears as if he'll wait until next year when he gets his big arby bump.
  4. If his dad had anything to do with that first contract/signing bonus...oh oh.
  5. Actually I think very few fans care about that when casting their vote. If they did the results would be much different than they are now.
  6. During the broadcast Schroeder seemed to think that an acknowledgement sign was missed. He said the sign is usually something as simple as the batter tapping the bat twice on the plate. As liveforoctober said it's usually something so simple that the sign couldn't be stolen any more than any other sign in a game. I would think at the very least that the sign would have been used after botching it once. The stakes are a little higher in MLB than high school.
  7. It's possible he's trying to stall another year and then pay it off when his paychecks get a whole lot bigger. Of course he could get a nice signing bonus right now and get the feds off his back. I know which way Boras will advise. Was Boras his agent when he first signed with us? Whoever was advising him then didn't do a good job of explaning the taxes he would have to pay.
  8. Perfect time for a reasonable contract extension. Mark bails Prince out with the IRS Prince signs a Brewer friendly deal.
  9. According to the Detroit News, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder owes the Internal Revenue Service $409,149. The report says the IRS filed the lien on Oct. 6, 2005, for unpaid income taxes. According to the lien, Fielder owes the money from 2003, the year after he signed his first contract with the Brewers and after he received a $2.4 million signing bonus. Fielder and the Brewers were unable to agree on a salary for this season, so his contract was renewed at $670,000, up from $415,000 a season ago. Fielder is not eligible for salary arbitration until next winter. The Brewers use a system to determine salaries for all players with less than three years of service time, including incentives for winning awards and placing high in the balloting. The Brewers referred a call for comment to Scott Boras, who is Fielder's agent. Boras could not be immediately reached for comment.
  10. Yup, you would think after they botched it once they would have taken steps to make sure it didn't happen again. They probably still haven't.
  11. That's great if you want to do it that way. You are not alone I'm sure. But if the realistic choices in the outfield are going to be Soriano, Fukudome, Griffey and Braun (and that's what they are this year), I'm voting Braun.
  12. Toronto is a decent, but not great, team (like the Twins). You absolutely have to take at least 2 games in this series. And with Bushie pitching Thursday we need to win this one tonight.
  13. The bottom line is will you enjoy watching the game more with Braun in the starting lineup? If so you vote for him. If not vote for whoever you will enjoy watching more. We can argue over whether he deserves it or not but that's not how it works and it's not how fans of other teams vote either.
  14. 25 per day per email address. I have a bunch of email addresses so I can vote a lot every day. In years past I had to reset the cookies in order to vote with more than one email address but I haven't had to do that this year.
  15. Well it's always been a silly popularity contest since fan voting was restored 38 years ago. And since that's the case we might as well vote for a player we want to see play rather than one that "deserves" it.
  16. Does any other coaching staff/manager make as many odd botches during a season, then chuckle about it after the game and say something like, "I had a mosquito bite and it itched!!" like it doesn't matter at all? Turns out the Brewers don't even have a sign to acknowledge the squeeze. So, should the Brewers start requiring the hitter to acknowledge the sign in some fashion? "We might have to," third-base coach Dale Sveum said. "That's not a good sign to miss." Yost said he didn't consider an acknowledgement by the hitter mandatory but admitted, "We might have to review that. We've got some signs (the hitter can use)."
  17. He's looked very very good. As did Turnbow at one point. Hopefully he can stay consistent. Certainly better than Bush right now.
  18. We're closer to last place than to the wild card.
  19. Does any other coaching staff/manager make as many odd botches during a season, then chuckle about it after the game and say something like, "I had a mosquito bite and it itched!!" like it doesn't matter at all? Yeah I don't get that at all. B&B were pretty clear on how it works tonight with a squeeze. Manager calls the squeeze, third base coach gives the sign. Batter is suppose to give a sign back. If he doesn't, the play is called off. Last time it happened Yost blamed Kendall. I guess this time he'll blame Suppan. Fundamentals are killing us.
  20. Another missed squeeze sign tonight. I guess that's on Sveum though.
  21. Note to FSN crew: It's Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew, not Killebreu
  22. They had audio problems with Trenni's interview earlier in the game too. Let's face it, this far into the season it's never going to get any better. I hope at least the sixth graders working in production are getting some school credit.
  23. What hotel do the Brewers stay at in Minneapolis?
  24. Melvin has made Hart one multi year offer that was turned down. Talks are continuing.
  25. Why have Dillard warming up and then bring in Tavarez? Why have a rookie pinch hit and face a guy who was dominating us? Counsell at least has had 24 AB's against him.
