  1. I think logan is pretty spot on. He'll see what he's offered in arby and use that as a base to sign a longer deal. Corey definitely wants to stay and wants the security of a long term deal. It's going to be a big contract, but well worth it.
  2. B&B talked last night that he will actually be fully rested. We have one day off before the AS game and Ned will give Ben the extra day as he has all season. Ben will pitch 6/29 at Minnesota, July 4 at home and July 9 at home. And unless one of the two remaining Atlanta games are rained out, there can be no rain outs in Minnesota or Milwaukee. Ben will be fully rested for the AS game.
  3. The home stand just ended so those votes are probably not all counted. Who knows. But regardless of whether Braun deserves it (and Lord knows that's been debated enough), the reality is there are 3 spots for 4 players. And I'd rather see Braun start than the others so I'll keep voting for him.
  4. Great pix. Thanks.
  5. Interesting. He was listed and as you said now he's not. ESPN has him listed.
  6. I think the small crowd they got at Sherman Park is directly related to the players they had there.
  7. Cards go to Detroit (8-2 in their last 10), then to Kansas City (8-2 in their last 10, just swept the Cards in St. Louis), then home against the Mets and Cubs. A 6-4 road trip could put us in the wild card lead.
  8. I agree, the competition sometimes needs to do a better job of advertising the alternatives. Many people stick with cable just because that's all they know. I realize not everyone can get a satellite dish due to their location or because they don't have a house but for those that do have them it's fantastic. Time Warner Cable was a nightmare in many ways, I can't believe I waited so long to get DirecTV. It's been 8 years now and I never regretted switching. The 90+ HD channels are just gravy.
  9. Soup is now listed as the Wednesday starter.
  10. Eventually every channel will be in HD and all providers will have all the channels in HD. But for now DirecTV has far more HD than any cable system. I get about 95 HD channels, many of them sports. I'm glad that FioS and other technology starting to break through. Cable has had no competition for so long that they never gave a crap about their customers. That's why I dumped Time Warner a few years ago. Now they are very late to HD.
  11. I don't want a rental of Sabathia if it means giving up LaPorta or Gamel.
  12. Once you watch games in HD it's hard to watch in SD. Tonight's Channel 41 broadcast was incredibly bad. Sunday Ticket on DirecTV is fantastic. Hell every sport in HD is fantastic.
  13. I like Sabathia but trading for him means having to resign him and it means Sheets is gone. It also means either LaPorta or Gamel are gone too. In that case I would rather just resign Sheets. Sheets + LaPorta (or Gamel) > Sabathia. Now if we could trade for Sabathia, resign him AND keep Sheets..... Sheets, Sabathia, Gallardo, Suppan, Parra, McClung. That's a hell of a lot of starting pitching.
  14. Where did you hear that he'll miss 4 starts? I said he would likely miss 4 starts. Maybe it's 3. Maybe it's 10.
  15. Isn't against the forum TOS to use Cubs and classy in the same sentence?
  16. Or maybe you throw away conventional thinking and use your backup catcher right there. Rivera is only 1-5 vs. lefties this year but I like his chances of getting the ball out of the infield a lot more than Hall's chances.
  17. While it was the right decision to have him bat last night it doesn't change the fact that he absolutely blows right now.
  18. Rivera was the only guy we had left. I would have taken my chances with Branyan.
  19. Let him get some AB's in Nashville (yes he does have an option).
  20. There is way too much assuming going on here. No one knows the details of the Brewers offer to Prince. No one knows if Boras made a counter offer or not. And absolutely no one knows how Prince feels about staying here long term.
  21. I know that Hart's agent is still trying to work out a long term deal. Corey would love to stay here. The closer guys get to arby and free agency the trickier these kind of deals become.
  22. Sheets is a free agent to be. I doubt he can name all of the GM's.
  23. I still haven't decided on this series yet. My boy wants to go to a couple of road games and this is the only remaning weekend series that is within reasonable driving distance from Milwaukee. But I hate that dome, horrible place to watch a game. And I don't think much of Twink fans after their "Flood Insurance" chants last weekend.
