  1. It's the kind of thing you can't stand if an opponent does it. Which makes it great when someone on our team does it. This wasn't a scrub player on a last place Brewers team. This was our best player hitting a dramatic 9th inning home run and he watched it for a few seconds. The headline in the St. Louis paper is Bullpen Blows It Again and they didn't even mention Braun's "posing" in the game article. If this gets the Cards all worked up..... good.
  2. Model homes can get a good deal but you have to be leary about how many corners may have been cut during the building process. As I said in my post above a lot depends on the inspectors in your city. Our inspectors caught the subs using dry rot wood. And they caught many other things. Our builder told us that the inspectors in our city were "notorious for being way too picky". Uh huh. I was glad they caught "picky" things like dry rot.
  3. Winning always makes the umps seem better. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. We built a home about 15 years ago with Badger Builders. It was an interesting experience. One thing we learned is that most of the builders use the same group of sub contractors so when they talk about how their quality is better, it really isn't. We basically picked out one of the models we liked and made a few customizations. Of course you can make yours as custom as you like, even start from scratch. It all depends on your budget. One nice thing about building is that you can make all of the decisions such as carpeting, cabinets, lighting, etc... instead of buying an existing house and then remodeling to fit your tastes. Hopefully the inspectors in your city are good. It was amazing what the inspectors found while our home was being built. Overall it was a good experience I guess. I wouldn't use Badger again, I didn't like their customer service during building and after. There were a couple of basic things that we didn't think about and they didn't tell us about. For instance, we couldn't afford to have the basement finished initially. Most builders will put in the pipe for a toilet in the basement so if you ever want to put one in down there you can. It's a relatively cheap thing to do. Our builder didn't do that or even ask us if we wanted it done. So when we did finish the basement into a recroom a few years later putting in a bathroom turned into a major expense. Bielinski is I believe the largest builder in the state. I've heard mixed things about them but that is probably the case with any builder. I don't know anyone who has used Mastercraft so I can't offer an opinion on them. I don't know if you already have a lot or not. We're glad we looked around quite a bit and glad we bought a lot that we thought may be too big at the time. You can always add on to your house but you can't add on to your land.
  5. Some good points. Mark has made it clear that his partners want a return on their investment every year. Many owners are willing to take some short term losses and cash in when the team is eventually sold. True, the Brewers might lose some money this year, but not much. Kohl has been losing money almost every year but he bought the team for less than $20 million and will make a bundle when he sells. If anything Attanasio would be part of a group who buys the Bucks, just like he did with the Brewers. But without a new building agreement in place, he won't be interested. Nor will anyone else. As far as Junior Bridgeman, he also doesn't have the cash to buy the team. And if he did don't forget he's from Louisville. They have a new building and would love an NBA team.

  7. Nothing beats hands on experience. Depending on your age and your financial needs you may be able to hookup as an intern somewhere. The pay is little but you get your feet wet and are able to make a better decision if that's something you really want to do. Certainly taking classes is also something you can do but often someone takes a lot of classes in something and then they find out once they get a job that it isn't as appealing as they thought it would be.
  8. As far as Mark buying the Bucks and what that would mean for the franchise, certainly having an owner comitted to keeping the team in town is key. The main thing Mark has done is raise payroll to the point where the team can be competitive. Spending money has never been the issue of the Bucks lack of success. Kohl made Glenn Robinson the highest paid rookie in the history of the NBA. It led to the rookie scale they have today. He hired Dunleavy (away from the Lakers) with a then unheard of 8 year deal. He made George Karl the highest paid (at the time) coach in any sport. He gave mega contracts to Ray Allen, Tim Thomas, Michael Redd. No, the problem was never spending money, it was spending it wisely. Much of that was due to Kohl's infamous meddling. Now he has seemed to seen the light and has hired a basketball guy to make the basketball decisions. We'll see how that works. As far as the front office, Doug Melvin and Jack Zduriencik were already in place, as was Yost. Mark talked about hiring a team president but never did. When it comes time to replacing those guys we'll see how he does hiring key personel. There is a pretty good chance that Jack will get a GM gig over the winter.

  10. Well the MJS did a great expose' on the whole Milwaukee Theater project and what a waste of money it was. They also called out Gimbel for the lack of accountability of the WCD as well as his king like approach to running the WCD. Oh wait, no they didn't. Not a peep from the local media.

  12. If Lou wants Harden to skip some starts then all I can say is thank you Lou.
  13. Last year it took a trip to Nashville to light a fire under Weeks. Hopefully this will do the same.
  14. Durham has about $3 million left on his $7.5 million deal for this year. This will push our payroll up to $93 million. Didn't think I would see that. Nice job Mark.
  15. Really? How long has this been the case? I see it is true, I just flipped to those time warner channels and it is showing the schedule of games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EI is always free the first week of the season and the first few days after the AS break
  16. The Giants schedule Saturday games for 1:00 so all their fans will be able to enjoy the San Francisco night life. The Brewers schedule Saturday games for 6:00 so everyone can be home in bed by 10. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. I'm going to enjoy watching him pitch this year, hopefully into October. And then I'll worry about next year.
  18. The Milwaukee market gets the Cards/Padres. And with Extra Innings being free until Monday most of us will also get the Cubs/Astros game tonight.
  19. Fixed http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Wonderful. When I think Brewers baseball I always think of Davey splashing around a waterpark. Of course if this means Trenni in a bikini I'm all for it.
  21. At least we don't have this problem with our former all-star pitcher who's currently in triple A. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Depending on your finances I would sit in field level seats. Your kids, at least your 7 year old, will enjoy the better view than sitting in the 400 nose bleed seats. For your 3 year old it probably won't matter either way. When my son was 7 he enjoyed the game and paid attention sitting in the 100's, and got bored sitting on top.

  24. Too bad there is the DH. Otherwise Hurdle could let Hart pinch hit for Ben in the top of the 3rd and I wouldn't have to watch past whatever inning Braun is replaced.
  25. At some point Ned may do that but having them go 1-2 after the break means that they each face the Cards in the final two games of that series.
