  1. What’s a fair tip on a standard men’s haircut that costs $22 and lasts about 20 minutes? I’ve always tipped around $5, but my barbershop added a new electronic payment station and the screen to add a tip suggests $5, $7, $10 or other. I’ve always thought $5 was a decent tip, but now I’m worried I’ve been shortchanging the staff. There’s probably some science behind showing clients higher suggested tip amounts leading to higher actual tips.
  2. My wife and I went to a restaurant yesterday that added a 3% surcharge for payment by credit or debit card. The waitress was kind enough to disclose this when she handed us the bill and we paid in cash to avoid what would have been about a $0.75 charge. I realize it costs 2-3% for retailers to process electronic transactions, but I thought that was built in to the cost everywhere. It struck me as odd. My wife says we can’t go there anymore.
  3. The history of the ‘Stepien Rule’ is a real gem. In a span of 5 months, the Cavs’ new owner traded away 5 consecutive first round picks (1982-1986) for a collection of players that history has already forgotten. Once of those picks turned out to be no. 1 overall (James Worthy). The league had to intervene and give the Cavs compensatory picks just to keep them afloat.
  4. What bothers me about trading Snell/30 for Leuer is that this is exactly the type of move the Bucks should’ve been on the other side of from 2014-2017 (absorbing salary in exchange for assets when there’s no realistic shot at a championship). I know they traded for Jared Dudley in what appeared to be a shrewd move, but they used the pick they acquired on 30 games of Greivis Vasquez.
  5. Actually worse for Durant with the torn Achilles. The ACL you come back from now almost 100 pct if not 100 pct if you put in the time. The Achillies you never come back 100 pct from(or almost never). True story. My father tore his achilles at age 40 and never played rec league volleyball again. Lawn sports only from that day on (sarcasm ... but still true).
  6. He’s finally at .200 again.
  7. The average American consumes 3x more shrimp today than they did in 1980.
  8. Joe Buck calling golf.
  9. I’m OK with the score, but not the endless celebrations.
  10. That’s exactly where I was coming from. If Pop thinks he can play, then who am I to doubt the ultimate players’ coach? I’m not sure how much Pop was involved in that decision (if at all), but the SAS organization has built up a lot of goodwill. I believed them over Uncle Dennis.
  11. I was really sour on Kawhi Leonard after he forced his way out of San Antonio following the phantom quad injury that sidelined him for all but 9 games last year. However, after watching Kevin Durant will himself back from injury only to set himself back a full year, I find myself a little more sympathetic to Leonard’s situation. Regardless of the Finals outcome, he’s established himself as an alpha in my mind.
  12. That’s really something. The details will be interesting when they finally emerge.
  13. I actually find myself pulling for the Warriors too because I’m sick of hearing how much Canadians love basketball. Canadians probably felt the same way last year when they had to see all the ‘die hard’ Golden Knights fans at the Stanley Cup Final.
  14. Moose’s stock has probably gone up since this thread started. Certainly a little bit today.
  15. The game in question was also a combined no-hitter. As others have said, it was only 3-0. The game was still in reach. You do what you can to get on base. I have no problem with it.
  16. Kevin Durant should be the NBA Finals MVP. In a weird way, I think he’s actually improved his free agent stock by proving how valuable he is to the Warriors through his absence. My goodness, what a missed opportunity for the Bucks.
  17. Pat Sajak once hosted an episode of Jeopardy on April 1, 1997.
  18. No joke. Boston doesn’t need another parade.
  19. More of a random thought than anything, but how is it that someone with Moose’s build can play adequate defense at 3B (and spot duty at 2B), but a young Ryan Braun couldn’t stick at 3B?
  20. From my experience, aldermen don’t really have much patience for landlords who aren’t also constituents.
  21. Being from Northern Wisconsin, I don’t get down to Milwaukee that often. After reading the OP’s conundrum, my first thought was ‘Is Milwaukee even that nice? Who cares about a tool box out front?’
  22. For those that don’t know much about Alfonzo McKinnie, he was part of some good UWGB teams that went to back-to-back NITs in 2014 and 2015. He was maybe the 5th or 6th best player on the roster back then and didn’t start until he was a senior. He honed his game in the G-League for 3-4 years and now has played in more NBA games than any former UWGB player besides Tony Bennett. Neat story.
  23. I’m pulling for Golden State because of UWGB’s Alfonzo McKinnie and Andrew Bogut ... I’ll always be a Bogut fan.
  24. Who thinks Josh Jones will be on the roster when training camp opens?
  25. I had basically written off my local Copps because the value disappeared around 2015 (if it was ever there), but since Kroger bought Roundy’s and re-branded my local store as a Pick n’ Save, the deals are back and better than ever.
