  1. I lean toward siding with Rodgers, but I don’t see BG as incompetent or a villain. In fact, I think he’s done a pretty decent job of turning this team around save for one huge exception (trading up for Love).
  2. The NBA is just silly when it comes to putting protection on future picks, but I sort of see the need. With only two rounds, the 15th overall pick in the NBA Draft is roughly equivalent to the 60th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
  3. I don’t know much about boats (other than they float and are expensive), but your new place sounds great. Congrats! Do you have easy access to a public boat launch? My parents have a place in Forest County and my dad always pulled his fishing boat out at the end of every weekend (or delegated that task to my brother and I). That might save you some cash in the short run and save some wear and tear on your new boat.
  4. I keep a navy blazer at my office just in case I get roped into something important on short notice. As a consequence, 90% of my professional wardrobe (mostly khakis and button-down shirts) is designed to match that navy blazer.
  5. I thought Steve Jobs may have done the same thing, but when I researched his black turtleneck preference, the internet suggested Jobs wanted to introduce uniforms at Apple (which are apparently more common at Japanese tech companies). They idea was not well-received, but Jobs personally liked the black turtleneck look and adopted it as part of his personal brand.
  6. 4) You will die if you burp, fart, and sneeze at the same time. I don’t know if that’s been discussed explicitly in this 24-page thread, but I think it’s important we dispel that rumor.
  7. Thanks.. I hadn't heard that explanation of the reason behind the VH contract terms. No problem. I heard that tidbit on the radio after Eddie Van Halen’s passing and thought it was pretty neat. Their standard contract also included provisions for pretzels, 12 Reese’s peanut butter cups, and 12 containers of Dannon yogurt (assorted flavors), but I think those were just because they liked snacks (who doesn’t?).
  8. I bought a 6-pack of Bud Light Orange on clearance and I liked it. I would never admit that without the anonymity internet message boards provide.
  9. For the record, Van Halen requested the brown M&Ms be removed as a way of gauging whether or not the concert promoter had read their entire contract, which included dozens of safety stipulations detailing how all of their (very heavy) equipment should be set up. If they showed up to a venue and saw brown M&Ms in their staging area, the show could be canceled at the expense of the promoter. If Van Halen was ever uncomfortable with how a venue was set up, the brown M&Ms provided them with the leverage to immediately insist on additional, rigorous safety checks. But yeah, Rodgers could probably insist on no brown M&Ms at 1265.
  10. Count me as someone who doesn’t think Rodgers will sit out. He’s a guy who cares about his legacy and I guarantee he knows exactly where he stands among his contemporaries in terms of career wins (9th), touchdown passes (7th), and passing yards (11th). With 3 more average years, he’d be Top 5 in each category. Now maybe he views player empowerment or his life’s work after football as his greatest legacy, but he cares about those stats.
  11. I’m going to guess he gets downgraded due to his size and the ACL tear from 2 years ago. Sounds like the Packers still had a second round grade on him. I like the pick, FWIW. Tee Martin wasn’t big by QB standards (6’2’’), but still taller. I bet Rodgers is a first rounder if he had his dad’s height.
  12. I’ve also noticed most draft graders praise teams for trading up ... ‘such and such team gets an A because they made 2 FRPs’ (never mind the cost of trading up).
  13. So much for yesterday’s prediction. They’ve got to add an OT sometime today, right?
  14. Is that your opinion or is that fact? TUrns out it's a fact. That’s a neat intangible.
  15. So if he retires, he has to pay back $23 million in signing bonuses?
  16. I saw interviews with Clark and Sternberger, and both were dismissive of it. I suppose it's unlikely a current player isn't likely to make waves though. I think that’s part of the Player’s Code (not commenting on teammates’ contracts). But yes, the fact that no one is piling on is a small positive.
  17. That’s sort of where I’m at too ... Love is still ‘mint in box’ due to the unique offseason / preseason situation last year. The Packers have been the only team evaluating him for the last 12 months. If they privately thought he wasn’t as good as their pre-draft assessment, I think they would have just given Rodgers whatever he wanted by now.
  18. One article I read on CBS Sports this morning mentioned something to the effect of ‘For the 20th consecutive year, the Packers failed to draft a WR in the first round’ ... as if the objective of the draft was to take a WR every year.
  19. I predict the Packers trade up 10 spots in the second round to acquire a potential starting RT.
  20. A few months ago, it seemed like Russell Wilson was done in Seattle, but that situation has since de-escalated. I’m cautiously optimistic. For as critical as most fans are (myself included sometimes), Green Bay is still a fairly well-run organization and they are positioned to win a lot of games next season.
  21. I was getting sleepy once the draft got into the 20s, but here are my initial thoughts on the pick: - CB obviously addresses a big need - I read Stokes’ name in several mocks (not a huge reach) - 2 years covering SEC WRs is a good sample - Glad they didn’t trade up (still got a good player) - Glad Rodgers is still a Packer (for now) I’m usually the last person to advocate trading up, but I’d advocate trading a 4th if they can target a potential starting RT in Round 2. Apparently, it’s a good draft for tackles.
  22. Yeah I know. And I probably picked the top 7th round pick the Packers ever had. But it is also why you don't just throw them away either. Scott Wells and Mark Tauscher we’re both 7th rounders too. That was a pretty good run between 1999 and 2004.
