  1. It’s pretty nice in Green Bay right now. I just got done building a snow fort with my kid. Joggers were out in sweats. Any weather advantage will be minimal.
  2. NFL Game Pass has a ‘listen live’ feature. You can get a 7-day free trial. I’m not sure if that will give you the local radio call with Wayne and Larry or a national call, but it’s an alternative to FOX. https://gamepass.nfl.com/packages?redirected=true&icampaign=gpg-nav-gdb-gamecenter_inmarket_link
  3. My heart says Green Bay, but my head says Tampa. This is the type of game that Tom Brady wins and the Packers always seem to lose. Obviously, they still have a shot and I’ll be rooting hard for them. Go Pack Go!
  4. Aside from office pools, I’ve never bet on sports (wouldn’t even know where to start). However, if the Packers win tomorrow (big if), I’d seriously consider betting a few hundred dollars on the AFC champ to hedge my happiness.
  5. Stafford didn’t force anything, all the reports said they mutually agreed. He’s given his entire career to that city and was surrounded with garbage for almost all of it. Give him a chance to play on a contender and give the team a chance to rebuild faster without his contract. It’s a no brainer for both sides. Colts make a lot of sense... True, the situations are a little different. Watson is demanding a trade, while Stafford merely requested one. Though, to be fair, it sounds like he initiated it. Breakups are rarely ‘mutual.’ https://www.nfl.com/news/matthew-stafford-era-in-detroit-likely-over-as-star-qb-requests-trade
  6. I don’t like that players can just decide to be done with a team. Both Stafford and Watson have legitimate grievances, but this is turning into the NBA. Sign a big contract at the first opportunity to get the guaranteed money, then force a trade later when you’re no longer satisfied with your situation.
  7. Tramon is the COVID replacement for Veldheer. DL Brian Price and CB KeiVarae Russel are the PS elevations. Probably not a great sign for King if 2 of the 3 PS elevations are CBs.
  8. I’m really pleased with Gary’s development this year, but even if he turns into an above average starter, the Packers will only have him on a value contract for another 2 years (plus a more expensive 5th year). Unless you’re taking a quarterback, I’d really prefer to see the #12 overall pick be a plug-and-play starter from Day 1. Now that being said, if he turns in a pair of disruptive performances in route to a championship, then it doesn’t matter how many games he’s started. The pick will have been a home run no matter what happens next year.
  9. In the 19 playoff games of the Rodgers’ era, the Packers are 1-7 when they give up more than 26 points but 10-1 when their opponent is held to 25 or fewer points. Aside from taking care of the ball, they’ll need some opportune stops tomorrow. For as good as the offense is, I don’t think they’re scoring 30 on the Bucs’ defense.
  10. Kevin King was a DNP today due to a back issue.
  11. It helps when your wife makes $70 million per year.
  12. I think you're really overstating the problem Josh Jackson is. He's been at worst average since he's come in. We're just pretty solid at GB and he doesn't get a lot of snaps. You're acting like Jackson is Gunter or one of those awful DB's were had when we went to Atlanta in the NFCCG and Gunter was the guy who covered Julio. Josh Jackson has been a healthy scratch these past few weeks. He might not be a total liability, but he’s a ‘bottom of the roster’ guy.
  13. It was definitely Saban(which I only remember because I just watched a profile on him the week before the CFB Title game). He wanted Brees and when he failed his physical, he said it helped him realize how little control he had in the NFL compared to in College. He couldn't overrule the medical staff as Wolf did with the Favre trade. Saban also could have taken Rodgers #2 overall in the 2005 draft, but took Ronnie Brown, and started Gus Frerotte at QB instead.
  14. I have very low expectations for Tramon, but it’s nice to know he effectively puts a floor on the #4/5 corner spot so Josh Jackson doesn’t have to play meaningful time in the postseason. Mark Ingram would also be a FA if he clears waivers. With these odd 2020 roster rules, they could also sign him to the practice squad as an insurance policy. Again, I don’t have any real expectations there, but I cringe at the thought of Dexter Williams taking snaps this time of year.
  15. Tramon Williams reportedly has been signed to the Practice Squad. He was practicing today with the team and wearing his #38. It’s good to have him back, but I worry about bringing in someone off the street without quarantining (like Veldeer).
  16. Helps that the Bucs are projected to have the second easiest schedule in the NFL next year based on 2020 standings. Then factor in Brees’ retirement and the Saints’ cap mess. It’s like he’s back in the old AFC East! Wouldn’t that just be torture for Bills fans to lose a Super Bowl to Tom Brady?
  17. May he rest in peace. Ted built a Super Bowl champion through the draft and I will always be grateful for his contributions to this team and town.
  18. Of course I want the Packers to go all the way, but I honestly wouldn’t mind much if Brady won another one. He’s head and shoulders above his contemporaries in terms of postseason accomplishments, so one more wouldn’t really change the narrative. I worry about another QB getting to 2 before Rodgers because then we’ll have to listen to insufferable Packer fans who think Rodgers would have won 4 titles by now if they were GM.
  19. Per Rob Demovsky, Tramon Williams was in town today. He was released by the Ravens on Monday, so I guess he’s free to sign with a playoff team. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in the role of ‘punt catcher.’
  20. The two sides were reportedly very close to an agreement, but Miami backed out due to concerns about Brees’ shoulder. Instead, they traded a 2nd round draft pick for Daunte Culpepper who started 4 games for the Dolphins then got hurt.
  21. That’s pretty much where I’m at too. I’ll be pulling hard for the Packers on Sunday, but have tempered my expectations.
  22. It would be quite a credit to the Buccaneers defense if they were able to beat Brees, Rodgers, and Mahomes. I don’t think a team has ever faced 3 quarterbacks of that caliber in a single playoff.
  23. A colleague of mine pointed out that Tom Brady will have now played in more NFC Championship games in the last 25 years than the Dallas Cowboys.
  24. It’s hard to believe Brees and Rodgers never faced each other in the playoffs, despite being contemporaries in the NFC for over a decade.
  25. I think his grievances are legitimate, but this isn’t the NBA. You can’t just be done with a team a year after signing a new contract. What a horrible precedent this would set.
