  1. I think Austin definitely has one more match left in him. He'd have to train for awhile, and wait for his knee to heal up first though. Probably WM 30 is realistic.
  2. I want this match to happen in the worst way. Still hoping for WM 30.
  3. The rotation will be Gallardo, FA, Fiers, Estrada/Rogers, Peralta. I think that Estrada or Rogers could fill the long-relief/6th starter role well, so only one of them will be in the rotation. Although, I guess Peralta could start at AAA as well. I really don't see Narveson winning a rotation spot, but he could be in the bullpen. There's just too many quality, young arms that will beat him out. So really, I think we could see one guy being a long-man and then Narveson filling Parra's role.
  4. As long as Gonzalez isn't brought back, I think Maldonado, Schafer, Gamel, and Bianchi are locks. The last spot may be a veteran guy like Reed Johnson, or just a really good pinch-hitter. Whoever the 5th bench guy is won't get much playing time. Schafer will get playing time in CF, and maybe RF. Gamel will backup 1B, 3B, and probably LF and RF some. Bianchi will backup 2B and SS. That doesn't leave much playing time for the last guy. A veteran clubhouse presence would be nice for that spot.
  5. Sheets only went 1 inning, but he struck out 2, including the last batter he faced. Fitting way to go out for Benny.
  6. I'll always be grateful to Ben for his time here, and for essentially ruining his arm and throwing his career away helping the Brewers make the playoffs in '08. Literally stayed out there until his arm blew out. The guy was a gamer. It's really a shame that he had so many injuries. Could've been one of the best. Still had a good career. Hope he still has a future in baseball in some manner. He seems to be happy in life, which is most important. He's just happy being back home with his family and coaching his son's team. Nothing wrong with that.
  7. Augh, so it's not only Johnny Wholestaff night, but maybe C- or D-list Wholestaff. I know that games are not played on paper and so all's not lost, but waah. Actually this is good. Hernandez and Veras suck. Likely means Henderson, K-Rod, and Ax will pitch the 7th, 8th, and 9th no matter what the score is. That gives us a lot of chances at strikeouts.
  8. RAMIREZ FOR GOLD GLOVE AOKI FOR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
  9. The Cardinals are facing Jackson, Zimmerman, Detwiler, Arroyo, Latos, and Bailey. That's a pretty tall order. We definitely still have a chance. Gotta go 6-0 though still in my opinion. But never know.
  10. 80% of the players in baseball were probably using PEDs at one point. So this is really a non-story. Nothing earth shattering. I'd be interested if he named some of the players though. But I guess it's implied that it was all the big names on the Dodgers at that time, which doesn't surprise me.
  11. Honestly, the only one of those four listed that I see going anywhere is Gomez. And I think even that is a long shot at this point. Fiers and Estrada will for sure be back, because we need all the pitchers we can get. I also think they really value Maldonado behind the plate. The tandem with Lucroy really seems to work. Gomez could possibly go if they feel set with Schafer, but I see them in a platoon at the least. I really think all four will be back.
  12. Yeah, I think we have to win the next 2 and hope the Cards lose tomorrow. Then we'll be 3 back with 6 easier games at home, and the Cards will have Washington and Cincy. That'll still be conceivable. Even if we're 4 back going into those 6, there's an outside chance if we sweep both series. I probably won't feel good about it unless we go into the weekend only 3 GB, which is a huge uphill battle.
  13. I'm loving the stache. I'm with you topper09er. It's a beautiful thing. SHould give him so good mojo. His facial hair experimentation has been top notch this year. Nearing Axford levels.
  14. I saw that too. And I sure hope so, because I'm thoroughly confused at this point.
  15. The article says nothing about eligibility. Just talks about not having the WC roster carry over to the NLDS, so teams won't carry their other starting pitchers and will instead carry specialists and extra position players. Not sure how this will be possible due to eligibility reasons, so I'd like to know the actual rules on that. However, from everything I've read, it sounds like we'll be able to add 1 pitcher and 2 position players to replace Narveson, Gamel, and Gonzalez. Not sure what the rule would be if Rogers is placed on the DL also.
  16. Yeah, pretty sure they went with the 3-man booth last night just to get JR some work before he takes over for King for the time being. JBL was just signed on to go NOC and Raw last night.
  17. I posted this in the Ramirez thread, but thought it applied to an extent here too. I was curious yesterday about Fielder vs. Ramirez stats wise. They are pretty similar actually. Obviously there are other varying factors, but it's definitely interesting to look at. Obviously Ramirez isn't the only one working to replace Fielder's production either. Fielder: .305/.403/.518 26 HR 98 RBI 29 2B Ramirez: .296/.361/.529 23 HR 91 RBI 44 2B
  18. I was curious today about Fielder vs. Ramirez stats wise. They are pretty similar actually. Obviously there are other varying factors, but it's definitely interesting. Fielder: .305/.403/.518 26 HR 98 RBI 29 2B Ramirez: .296/.361/.529 23 HR 91 RBI 44 2B
  19. I think we might end up needing to go 7-3 on this trip. A lot depends on how the Cardinals and Dodgers series goes. 6-4 might get us by if we then sweep the Astros and Padres at home.
  20. His firing made no difference at all. Ax and K-Rod rediscovered their command, and the bullpen goes as they go basically. Has nothing to do with the presence, or lack thereof, of Kyles.
  21. Looks like they are in the process of sending out info then. I figured as much.
  22. He started Monday against a LHP and we still won. He's mainly in there for his defense.
  23. Apparently, he also may have suffered some brain damage from lack of oxygen for so long after he collapsed. That would be terrible, and I hope that's not the case. Still praying for him and his family. Really hoping he pulls through this.
