  1. When college football (or basketball) games on the ESPN networks run long, causing my DVR (set for ABC) to miss the start of the Badger game which got transferred to ESPNews. For people who live in Wiscobsin, why can't they show the start of the Badger game on ABC and shift the Memphis/UCLA game to ESPNews? I understand that people without a rooting interest in either game would generally rather see the end of a game rather than the beginning of a different one, but for people in the local markets of the late game, they should switch over to the start of that game on the main station. When the Packers play at 3:25 and the noon game goes long, FOX or CBS will still show the start of the Packer game in the Wisconsin market even though the noon game is still going. Why can't ESPN do the same for college games?
  2. I'm guessing some tickets were held for people who showed up in person at the box office. On the news tonight they showed what seemed like a ridiculously long line at Miller Park. They probably didn't want someone to stand in line for an hour starting at 10:00 only to not get tickets because they were all gobbled up online in no time. On a side note, I'm not really sure why you'd drive to the box office and wait in line for a long time when you can just buy them online in almost no time. I guess maybe people really like getting actual hard tickets instead of print-at-home tickets, or would rather wait in line than pay a few bucks in convenience fees. I guess maybe if you have nothing better to do.
  3. I'm guessing the Brewers will be in the home clubhouse. I believe that when the Indians and Angels played here in 2007, the Indians were the home team but chose the visitors' clubhouse because the Brewers left some areas of the home clubhouse locked. I assume this situation is similar and therefore it will be to both teams' advantage if the Brewers are in their usual dugout/clubhouse and the Marlins are on the visitors side. As far as other things like Bernie Brewer, music, PA announcements, etc it will be interesting to see what happens. My guess is that the game will basically be a home game for us from that perspective. We will just be wearing gray instead of white and batting in the top of the inning instead of the bottom.
  4. We have our top three pitchers going this weekend with a shot to make a big dent in the Cubs' divisional lead. Meaningful baseball in September is all you can really ask for, considering any team that is still alive and gets hot at the right time can go bring home a World Series title. Make it happen boys!
  5. Browns fans actually do have hope right now. People are pretty excited in Cleveland over an undefeated preseason. There were even t shirts made for it. That's even worse than continually celebrating a team that lost a championship for 35 years and counting. Honestly, with how meaningless the preseason is, I'd say that getting excited over a 4-0 preseason is delusional. So even teams that seem to have no expectations have fans that are setting themselves up for disappointment. I'd rather actually have a chance once in a while than that...
  6. NFL Game Pass. https://gamepass.nfl.com/packages?redirected=true
  7. Exactly igor. It's easy to be positive when we're winning consistently and watching our lead on the division swell. But the fact that we've struggled mightily and are still right in the thick of the division race means a lot too. When we get hot again we may just run away with this thing!
  8. I am very excited for the upcoming season. We have a legitimate chance to finish the regular season undefeated and it seems plausible that a spot in the playoff could come down to the B1G championship game. Even with the loss of Cichy our defense appears to be strong. Offensively we should once again be able to pound it down people's throats with a good line, and I think Shaw will have a very good year at RB. We need to take care of business at home especially against Northwestern, Iowa, and Michigan, and not have a letdown on the road at BYU or Nebraska. No big opening weekend this year to get the season under way, and we wont have the excitement playing a top-10 team seemingly every single week for a month straight like we did last year, but I am still very much looking forward to September 1st!
  9. I have two Packer tickets in the Gold ("Milwaukee") Package, and based on the schedule I will not be able to attend any of the three games this year. I am looking to sell all six tickets (two tickets to each of the three games) as a package for $512 total, which is the total face value of the tickets and the price that I paid for them. The catch is that the two tickets are not located directly next to each other. One ticket is in Section 102 Row 14 and the other is in Section 102 Row 16, but both tickets do have the same seat number, so there's basically one row in between the two seats. The three games in the Gold Package this year are: Thursday, August 31, 6pm vs. LA Rams (preseason) Sunday, September 24, 3:25pm vs. Cincinnati Bengals Monday, November 6, 7:30pm vs. Detroit Lions Given that the two seats are not located right next to each other, I would also be willing to sell one ticket to all three games (i.e., three tickets total) for the per-ticket season price of $256. The only other way I'd be willing to break up the tickets at the face value prices would be if someone wants to purchase the two preseason tickets - for those I'd be willing to sell for $40 per ticket (face value is $52 per ticket for that game). I am able to meet in the Milwaukee area to exchange tickets for cash (preferred method of delivery for the full set of tickets), or can mail the tickets if you pay via Paypal (preferred method of delivery if anyone buys only the preseason tickets). I will also be listing these tickets individually on Stubhub (likely below face value for the preseason game and above face value for the two regular season games). So if you are interested in the full package at face value, it is in your interest to reply sooner rather than later. I will update this page if/when any of the tickets sell on Stubhub. Thanks for looking.
  10. The HS football season in Wisconsin used to start a week later, and they made up for it by having the last regular season game on a Wednesday or Thursday (instead of Friday), first playoff game on a Tuesday, and second playoff game on a Saturday. That meant that instead of playing once every seven days, teams who advanced to the second round of the playoffs would play a stretch of three games in 10-11 days, and four games in 16 days if you look back another week. A few years ago they changed that and started the season a week earlier to allow for the same number of games but with normal rest between games.
  11. I think if anything they should go back to bigger giveaways being on Fridays/Saturdays and kids-only giveaways on Sundays. I think the last time they did that regularly was 2005 or 2006, when most (or maybe all) bobblehead games were on Saturdays, and there were mini-bobbles given to kids on Sundays. At some point it made sense to shift away from having the biggest giveaways on Saturdays, since they sold those games out anyways (in 2007, they gave out the 5" 1982 team bobbles each Friday and gave out full-size bobbles on a few Sundays). But with how bad the team has been and will be for a couple years, giving out all-age-friendly items on Fridays/Saturdays and kids-only items on Sundays seems like it would make more sense to me.
  12. Considering a typical trip to a specialist will run close to $3,000 I doubt you'd want that. Honestly, that sucks, and your doctors need to get their crap together. Whomever is referring you to a specialist should be able to refer you to one that is in network. I second Baldkin's response. I doubt you'd want to skip the insurance altogether - since insurers generally negotiate good discounts off of what an in-network hospital or doctor would bill someone who is uninsured (not to mention the risk you'd be exposing yourself to if you get into even one bad accident or have one semi-major medical issue and don't have insurance). Maybe you were thinking you'd go buy your own insurance policy, but I'm not sure that would save you any money or hassle unless you're young and healthy (and even the insurance savings that a young and healthy person can realize are a lot less than they used to be before Obamacare). With that said, it is incredibly frustrating that for something that is so expensive and can be so important to both the length and quality of someone's life, we have such a fragmented health care system. Your example sounds very frustrating. It's also irritating to me that you have basically no chance of finding out what a given procedure will cost until after it's done. This isn't so much an issue if you have a low deductible and/or copay based plan, but if you have a high deductible and/or coinsurance, then you don't have much choice other than to either get the procedure done or not and then wait for the bill to come like a month later.
  13. The jersey is not yet sold. Can't say with 100% certainty whether it's authentic or from China, as he bought the jersey from someone (not from the Brewers/MLB, and not from some shady website). He paid a price somewhere between what a jersey from China would cost and what a true authentic would cost, so I'd guess it's not a true authentic, but can't say exactly what the source is. He must've taken down the Craigslist posting since he moved recently and the jersey is now in my possession. If you're interested in pictures I can send them to you.
  14. My brother is selling a retro pinstripe jersey signed by Ryan Braun that is professionally framed. He's asking $250 or best offer for it. He got the autograph at an Autograph Friday signing (I believe the exact date was Friday, July 10, 2009). To see pictures and to reply if interested, please use this craigslist posting: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/clt/5630231863.html?lang=en&cc=us
  15. I've had cable basically my whole life but am considering switching to a DirecTV / AT&T U-verse bundle for TV and internet. My Time Warner bill has increased significantly over the past few years, and with the DirecTV/AT&T promotions available, I could probably save ~$45 a month for two years (even after talking TWC down a little bit last week). I'm not unhappy with the service at TWC by any means, it just seems like I could get basically the same thing for a lot less money (plus free Sunday Ticket for a year) by switching. I've never had satellite for TV or AT&T for internet though, so I do have some reservations that I wanted to see if anyone could answer. 1) Reliability is my #1 concern (especially on the Internet side since I sometimes work from home with a VPN connection, but also very much on the TV side). My issues with TWC have been few and far between, and I'd rather continue overpaying than switch to a less reliable service. I live in Greenfield, a little north of Whitnall High School. Not sure if anyone maybe has experience with DirecTV or AT&T's reliability in this area. I'd be looking at AT&T's "Max Plus" (18mbps) internet. Also, does anyone know if AT&T slows internet speeds beyond a certain usage point? 2) Would my house have to be re-wired vs. the cable I already have installed? The promotion I'm looking at includes free installation, but having to have a bunch more wires running all over is a potential drawback. I also have an outdoor TV that would need a receiver - currently with the cable wiring going through some buried PVC pipe to get from my house to my pavilion where the TV is. Any idea how DirecTV would hook that TV/receiver up? 3) Any other words of wisdom? I read through some older threads that made it sound like the key to reliable TV service from DirecTV is having the dish properly aimed/calibrated to have a really strong signal strength, and potentially knocking off some snow or ice on (hopefully rare) occasions if it accumulates. Also, it sounds like DirecTV charges fees for lots of things (changes in service, adding receivers, etc), in addition to the two year contract. Anything else I should know? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  16. My parents got one from Jimmy Nelson today. Their car was parked right in their driveway in the middle of a subdivision that I wouldn't expect many people just drive through.
  17. Yeah, I completely agree with the comment about his demeanor toward the refs, and I feel like it must be rubbing off on the crowd as well, because there were some boos for things that I just didn't get what they were booing. Granted, I probably feel like that more than most people since I used to ref basketball myself, but I especially noticed it last night.
  18. The prediction will change, but I think "utterly pointless" in an exaggeration. While the totals may change significantly, I'd rather at least know there's a chance for a lot of snow as opposed to just a light dusting...
  19. I'll take that any day over my experience at Sunday's game. There was a guy 2 rows in front of me vaping or smoking an e-cig or whatever it's called. Partway through the game some ushers came down and seemed like they were looking for someone. They left and came back a couple minutes later and asked to see my buddy's ticket (I was in a group of 4). Evidently they thought he was the one smoking and were about to write up our group and give a warning to the season ticket holder (another buddy's mom) about misconduct with the tickets. So of course we all started arguing and pointing out the true culprit (as did the group sitting in front of us). The true culprit did wind up getting written up, and no one in my group did, but after the fact the culprit started whining to the guy sitting in front of me about how he ratted him out, blah blah blah. To which the guy in front of me basically said, "of course I'm going to rat you out when someone else or I might get in trouble for something that you're doing." At which point the other guy with the culprit (may have been his dad) turned around and threatened to hit the "ratter-outer" so hard that his nose would be inside his face... I'm not sure what's more upsetting, the fact that the true culprit and his dad were actually threatening someone else over something for which they had no one to blame but themselves, or the fact that they didn't get thrown out when that threat was reported to the ushers...
  20. Regarding Cubs fans, my experience has been that the Cubs fans who come to Miller Park for games by and large act like much bigger douches than the ones who go to Wrigley.
  21. Yes, if anyone has tickets they had already bought specifically for fan appreciation night on the old date, they should call and complain. I'm assuming the Brewers will be accommodating.
  22. Sorry turbo, I'm not interested in bobbles. I'd prefer cash. About the only way I'd be open to a trade is for some kind of autographed or game used merchandise of a bigger-name player.
  23. I have an extra 8x10 autographed photo of Hank Aaron that I am looking to sell for $100 or best offer. My wife and I each got one at "An Evening with Hank Aaron" back in 2013, but we don't really need two of the same picture. The photo comes with a matting as shown in the picture. The MLB authentication number is EK697839 in case you want to look it up. Let me know if interested and thanks for looking.
  24. The seat license ("user fee") is $900 per season ticket for the Gold Package vs. $2100 per ticket for the Green Package. Since I have two seats in the Gold Package, I had to pay a one-time user fee of $1,800 this past spring to be able to buy the season tickets. I'll get that $1,800 back when I give up my tickets, assuming there is still a waiting list and someone takes my tickets. It's basically an interest-free loan for the Packers (and by the time I get my $1,800 back, the next person might be paying more than $900/ticket). There is not a separate waiting list for the Gold Package. If you're on the general waiting list or the single seat list, they send you a letter when you get close to the top asking whether you want to opt for the Gold Package (and likely a shorter wait) or stick it out for the Green Package. I think the only other list is the Club/Premium Seat list, which if you get those kind of seats then I think you have to buy all 10 pre/regular season games.
  25. Ahh, traveling sports teams... a whole separate can of worms
