  1. He said he was. https://www.wpr.org/aaron-rodgers-vaccinated-against-covid-19-hes-not-going-judge-teammates-who-arent
  2. I mean, BK, on some level, has to be a little jazzed about the ensuing effects of this. It seems fairly likely Love also has it though...but if not...it's pretty rare to get this valuable of a look at your prospect. Against an AFC team and Rodgers isn't hurt.
  3. I always wondered why the holder seemed to migrate for QB2 to P. It's because the P had the time to practice it all week.
  4. I am not suprised by this. His snaps on fgs and XPs were all over the place in the last couple of games. A couple of really good catch and hold saved a couple on Thursday. Wonder is some of Crosby's issues were related to iffy timing due to snaps. Almost positively were. The last time Crosby struggled was when both the LS and holder were new. It was documented at the time they were all having trouble getting on the same page. A couple weeks ago I was looking up exactly this and came across this 10-minute answer Bill Belichick gave re: special teams unit. Probably nobody will watch this but it's full of interesting insight as to how ST has evolved. And that it isn't really the case that kickers got magically better in the 2000s. It's that the units are a dedicated group of guys that work together all the time. In the past, your LS and holder were often other players that practiced and then worked with the K for 15 minutes at the end.
  5. He can't do either anymore so I don't think it really matters. It was a good signing due to his age and zero risk, but that Bears game was pretty much all I had to see. He can't move.
  6. Are you certain you don't have that reversed? He's only graded out as a plus run defender twice in his career, and not since 2019. Otherwise, he's pretty consistently rated as a plus coverage guy. I don't know where you're getting this from, I can assume PFF, but that is just not what Jaylon Smith is. I only know this because my best friend is a Cowboys fan and that has been his reputation for at least a couple of seasons. Here's a mailbag where Cowboys writers discuss this: https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/mailbag-jaylon-smith-improving-in-pass-coverage Here is blog that details signing him to play run defense but notes he can't cover: https://lombardiave.com/2021/10/06/packers-analyzing-jaylon-smith-signing/ Here is another data point from another blog on this topic: "Over the past four seasons, Smith was targeted 197 times in coverage. He allowed 151 of those balls to be caught for 1,376 yards while surrendering nine touchdowns in coverage. Are those numbers good? No." Here is the Dallas news on the topic, nothing that he simply doesn't run anymore so his one-time value as a run defender isn't even there anymore. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/cowboys/2021/10/14/film-room-dallas-cowboys-defense-is-no-longer-a-liability-and-this-is-the-key-reason-why/ I've always been a skeptic of PFF grading defenders, and I don't know what PFF is seeing or how they even get to their rankings. But I do know that Jaylon Smith wasn't signed by GB to play coverages.
  7. Then I'd want to know how those grades are achieved. The whole book on Smith was that he can't cover, like at all. Any system that shows him to be a + pass defender is highly suspect. He fell out of favor last season when teams went heavy isolating him in pass coverage. GB signed up to shore up run defense and in limited action he didn't pass the eye test there either. He's just done, I think.
  8. Never heard of this guy but somehow knew what team he'd be on by the thread title.
  9. He was godawful in coverage in Dallas. Any positive "grading" he had in coverage in GB was probably coincidental. He's a shell of the player he used to be.
  10. I'm not going to quote because it's too much text but I'm confused as to why you quoted two blocks of text and insinuated they contradict each other when they don't at all. Anyway, firing and layoffs are different, sure, but usually firing is very easily justified. Layoffs are pretty often comical and ambiguous. After living though several at F500s, there is no effort made to discern who's worth keeping and who isn't in a layoff. Really valuable guy everyone loves? Nah, he's in the wrong department, get rid of em. I could go on but I'd be here all night. And again, I'll repeat that I've never been laid off. So this isn't some vendetta.
  11. Rodgers is pretty damn insecure if trading Love makes the difference between him staying or leaving. I know everything looks hunky doory right now but I have my doubts that Rodgers is feeling the same way if or when the season ends in another playoff heartbreaker. I would guess all the vibes and emotions exactly one year ago were also quite positive. I don't know, I've always suspected Rodgers thought they were going to win it last year and then he was going to try to go somewhere else or get Love traded. He likely also thought they'd win and have to cave in to him. Had they won the Super Bowl, I don't think he would have reported to camp with Love on the team. I also don't think it's really a matter of insecurity. It's that he wanted the commitment, didn't want to be a sitting duck. I have my personal opinions on Rodgers's temperament in general...but I can't really say I fault the guy for wanting to know where he'll be in 2 years, especially at his age. And let's be honest, anyone as good as he is would feel they deserve that kind of special treatment.
  12. I think this is all assumed by anyone saying Trade Love. You obviously do it if you know Rodgers is staying and in a way that makes sense.
  13. I never thought I'd say this but they should trade Jordan Love. It doesn't really matter to me if you don't get back the pick you used (you won't). There's a time to admit we jumped the gun on drafting him and do something now. It would fire up Rodgers, he'd likely be back...and I think they made a big mistake evaluating when his play would steeply fall off. A factor here obviously is what kind of talks they had about Rodgers's future behind closed doors. But I just have a feeling Rodgers left the door open to continuing to play here. Personally I think Rodgers is going to be like Brady and play very well (somewhere) into his 40s. I don't want to take this thread down the Rodgers saga again though. I dunno what they do at TE, but signing Cobb looks far less silly than it did in August.
  14. I think I've read that before. I'm a proponent of going for 2 there in every end of game situation. You can win the game on one play you've practiced a thousand times or...go to OT? It's not even really a tough decision for me to make.
  15. Yeah every time they do something like this it is to drive traffic and donors to their website.
  16. Dillon's usage this season has been fine. A little light for my liking a few weeks, but fine. It's the situational use that feels strange at times, not the workload. Who cares if Jones is a better pass catcher at the 1-yard line on 2nd and goal? There are also times where Jones isn't productive and is met by bodies at the line where you think Dillon might fare better and they don't try it. They complement each other well, though Jones is clearly better in space and the offense is less predictable if he's in the game.
  17. I completely disagree with this take. Just this game alone, there were numerous situations where he either was the person delivering the hit on the defender, or he was hit in the backfield and powered for positive yards. He's every bit the runner we were told he was. Best explanation I can think of was that they wanted the more sure-handed Jones in their in the 4th considering AJ's recent but atypical fumbles. Which is at least a logical thought. But I was right there with the rest who said to hand it to him 4 times on the goal line, as there simply isn't a likely scenario where he doesn't score on one of them, save for a fumble. Did you not care to quote the part when I talk about him doing well in the Cardinals game and how I wanted him to run it? I’m simply referring to over his career so far he hasn’t really hasn’t ran people over in his career. Calling a guy a bruiser back I’d expect him to never get tackled by one guy and almost always go forward when being tackled. If I hand that guy that ball to get one yard I’d expect him to get it every single time, essentially. I’m not saying he isn’t a strong runner, I just don’t think he is so good he is some automatic guy to touch the ball. I don’t even think he is head and shoulders above Aaron Jones in that area. I’d probably want Dillion taking it, but Jones does give them more options and is honestly a smarter runner with better vision. Dillion has made strides, but he is still an inexperienced guy who will just run straight into a wall of lineman instead of bouncing it off the intended running lane. I just don’t find it to be a major crime he wasn’t on the field. The bigger crime was probably the lack of running in those situations…not necessarily who should have ran it. Yeah the problem is the take just doesn't make a whole lot of sense man. He's made the most of his opportunities running the ball. I don't know exactly why he hasn't played more; perhaps his pass pro isn't there yet and so if he's in the game, the opposition doesn't buy "pass," which makes sense. Maybe it's sure-handedness or something. But he has been the bruiser when given the ball to the tune of a near 5YPC on 100+ carries and anyone watching can see that he's a bear to tackle. Not just last night, but any time he's been given steady work. The only times he's been unimpressive are when he gets 3 carries a game, something he was never billed as being. He needs touches to look good, he was the same way in college. I get the challenge of finding those touches with Jones on the team...but they can clearly both play and when you're at 3-yd line I just don't think it takes much of a football mind to go with the 250-pound dude with tree trunk legs over the 200 pounder.
  18. The problem with this way of thinking is that having some magical guaranteed title sucks away the whole purpose of the pursuit. If I went into 2025 knowing we win the World Series, well that makes the season pretty boring to me. The whole rush of being a fan or playing a sport is the possibility that you lose, otherwise I'd just play basketball with 6 year olds every weekend. Without losing on the table, there is nothing to win. So the question of would you take one guaranteed title or a decade of playoff losses is just inherently flawed. The only real angle for that question is would you rather tank and commit to one season every decade or try to be sustainably competitive? And I strongly prefer the latter. When you're knocking on the door and not winning titles everyone easily forgets how lifeless it is to watch a team that loses all the time. It's really not fun. It's not fun to look into the next 10 years and know you're eliminated on May 15. But the agony of getting really close makes most people gloss over that.
  19. That exact thing crosses my mind but it's too silly to be reality.
  20. It seems you are willing to use any angle, ANY angle, to prove your backwards point. Dude, just take a look at what you just typed... You are saying that MA is willing to give Stearns more money to work with, but out of pure ego, Stearns turns it down? Seriously? I've seen some crazy comments on these boards, but this one is right up there with the craziest of all time. Are you sure? That would fit Stearns's personality - something Brewcrewin07 really has a tight handle on.
  21. Yeah my only real issue with MLF through 3 years, and there is not a lot to dislike, is the marriage to passing when it really makes no sense. It's not that he doesn't commit to running, but when he chooses to run and pass is sometimes extremely puzzling. I am not sure why this team with those 2 RBs is ever throwing the ball inside the 5. Of course you'll throw there sometimes, but it really feels like he almost thinks running isn't an option or something.
  22. That has a lot to do with Lafluer's feeding Jones as his goal line RB since that 2019 TD season he had when Dillon was a rookie. Dillon can't prove what he is when he's always standing on the sideline. He deserved a shot after how he ran today. At least use him as a decoy! While having Jones on the field too. Yeah I find this Dillon take pretty strange. He's been given very minimal opportunities. Even when he has a string of good runs he'll then disappear for no conceivable reason. He's averaging almost 5 yards a carry with sparse touches. Not sure how he's supposed to prove himself, but I am guessing his pass blocking is not where it has to be for MLF.
  23. That was really one heck of a catch by Douglas.
  24. That was a great catch by Douglas. Looked like Green was supposed to break in the other direction. That loss would have stunk because they really played well given the roster situation.
