  1. We should also acknowledge that JBJ is unlikely to OPS .497 again. He was never a great hitter, but I really doubt he replicates last year. He is a really nice complementary player with his glove if he can get back to around .700.
  2. People are really overstating the prospects here. A legit 1B prospect? I mean, maybe. We didn't trade Prince Fielder here. This is what we argue about in December but as long as Yelich and Hiura (I think the latter is more likely a lost cause) don't hit, this offense is severely limited. It's important to round out the lineup, but the Brewers will never have a good offense with Yelich doing what he did last year. I'm not being negative, it's just how I see it. You can't really expect more flash offensively. This is what we're gonna be. A pitch-first team that has to find runs in un-sexy ways. Or prevent them, which is what JBJ was supposed to be. He just couldn't hit. AT ALL.
  3. I liked the prospects, but they're prospects, and there's a tendency to like your own prospects as a fan. Renfroe should definitely hit, so there's that. And we don't have to pay another guy who's basically dead weight anymore. I'm fine with it. But I anticipate JBJ going back to his regular performance. I don't know if it would have happened in Milwaukee. What we really need is for Christian Yelich to hit again.
  4. WI is actually a bit of a frozen pizza mecca. I remember reading somewhere that Green Bay consumes more per capita than Chicago, and WI is the national leader. If you go out of state, you'll find most grocery stores don't provide as many options as we have here.
  5. Emil's is made in Watertown. A lot of fundraisers in my area (Washington County) use them.
  6. I didn't read it yet but wasn't it basically known that the Dyersville IA game was using a juiced ball?
  7. I'm against expansion. Adding the play-in game made it perfect, IMO. Just the right balance of meaningful races at the end + making the playoffs means something. Please don't go the NBA route with a first round that is nothing but an advertising money grab where Giannis dunks over the Pacers for 4 games.
  8. Emil's is good, and made in Watertown. Pretty sure they used the same packaging photo as Tombstone. I know Tombstone is very popular but I never really liked it. I'd rather have a Jack's. Found it to be too much sauce and too pillowy. I generally prefer a crispy pie. Costco recently had Roncadin which I tried and also found it to be really good, then it was gone on my next trip.
  9. It has though. Those teams suck, but all of them, even the Lions, have put together 11 win seasons or similar within the past ~10 years. The Jets were in consecutive AFCCGs. The Jaguars were there recently. But sustained success in the NFL or NBA is closely tied to having one really good player (QB or whatever 30ppg scorer). And when you get one, it is exceptionally rare that they leave in their 20s because other teams can't really outbid. In baseball, one player isn't taking you anywhere. You have to be able to reload at multiple spots every single year. There is just not an easy way for small teams to do that. There's no way, really, other than drafting incredibly well.
  10. Consider the source
  11. They will need to make an "easy kick" at some point to win a playoff game or a clinch game or something.
  12. He's not crappy but this game is exactly why I said what I said on page 1. He's never been a big game QB and he never seems to elevate when he has to be the difference. He's one of those players that gets called underrated so much that he's overrated.
  13. Flat was WIDE OPEN on that play
  14. The Packers have been consistently aggressive this season and while I think analytics are involved I also have a personal belief that this was something Rodgers brought up during his summer airing of grievances.
  15. We ran 12 seconds off, gained 7 yards and punted again...
  16. Yeah, I do not know what's going on there, but it's not good. I don't know that jumping ship at this point to get a new kicker with what's sometimes been shoddy snapping and holding is any better. We are likely stuck with this.
  17. I'd pretty much always go for it beyond the opponent's 45 with a "to go" of 10 yards or fewer. Unless it's some obvious situational thing where you're down 3 and at the 30 or something.
  18. Personally I'd have gone for it again vs. making up 23 yards. It's pretty much not worth it unless you get a perfect punt. Not a terrible call by any means but I'd just go for it.
  19. I think the Packers win today because Stafford is the same old inconsistent guy. We are down a bunch of guys, but I just do not have confidence in him to go toe-to-toe with the top teams.
  20. That was a very fitting last gasp.
  21. Punt, then no punt and waste a timeout. Wow.
  22. That's the trademark of UW football but it predates him.
  23. Even more odd, we do it again in Orlando on Dec. 28 and 30.
