  1. I liked Ghostbusters. Yeah a lot of fan service but the fans deserved it. I thought 2016 film was an abomination.
  2. Completely with you here as well. I've missed 3 games this year (coincidentally all 3 losses) because I've basically adopted a policy of "if anything comes up, I'll skip the game." It's nice to be a winning team, but at this point there is definitely a "just make the Super Bowl already, and I don't trust you until you do" mentality for me.
  3. Your premise that the injuries in 2010 were to less important players is correct. But this part is way off. Rodgers really wasn't that good in 2010. In fact the offense really struggled for about 2/3 of that season. The defense is what kept them competing and into the playoffs. Rodgers had some next-level performances in the postseason (dreadful however in the NFCCG). If there is any difference in Rodgers then and now it is negligible at most. I mean last season alone he was much better than he was that Super Bowl season. I've said this before but I don't really see any decline in Rodgers. I'm sure he's a few milliseconds slower but he is still plenty mobile, elusive, whatever. It seems like every time we lose this gets brought up that he "can't do it all." I don't see it.
  4. I'm with you. It happens to every team and will have happened this year for the team that does end up winning. The Packers have milked a lot of excuses for a decade. They're not going to have a year where one of their top 7 or 8 starters isn't lost. And guys, I said in the second or third post that this game concerned me. But the division will be wrapped up by the time we play Minnesota again. They're 5-5 because they're just OK. Almost every week their games can go either way. They're not going to chase for the division. The Packers could certainly lose a first round game this year. But they're not going to collapse and cede the North because of one narrow divisional road loss. This game was basically Indy last season.
  5. They have @SF and Rams at home left but other than that seems like they can get close enough to make that game in GB meaningful. They won't. They're average and it's a huge game for them. They'll be fortunate to finish 9-8. They lose a lot of close games to other average teams because that is what average teams do. They periodically beat us like this. It happens.
  6. I took my kids to a movie and it let out just in time for me to see 31-31 with ball inside the 5. Looks like this one went about exactly as I feared. Crosby is a liability. The Packers need a new kicker in practice. The long honeymoon is over. They WILL have to make a big field goal in the playoffs. Oh well
  7. Should be a great pay day for you knowing the margin of victory and all.
  8. This game actually worries me a bit. The Vikes dropped a few seesaw games early on and could easily be a 6-3 team or something. They're definitely not a bad team. A road divisional game where the Packers are down a bunch of guys too. I'm expecting a pretty competitive one.
  9. You're not buying the jersey from a manufacturer though, you're buying it from a retailer. There is a limited supply on them based on the fact that only one company is allowed to produce them and the most commonly sold jersey is the replica, not the authentic. Is there a huge mark-up on a $455 jersey, yes, obviously. But it's not like a t-shirt that costs the retailer $1.75 to bring to market.
  10. The authentic jerseys are actually pretty expensive to produce. Lots of intricate stitching and what not, and there is obviously only one manufacturer so that will always drive the cost up. But there is a reason pro sports teams are not too keen on players tossing jerseys into the stands and stuff, have been to known to have really strict equipment managers, and charge players that lose them.
  11. I don't think the seed matters for the Bucks at all. I'm sure they'll end 3rd or something. But if they want to worry about seed at all, I would just try to put myself on the opposite side of Brooklyn with the fixed bracket the NBA uses.
  12. The stock sale doesn't even scratch the surface of "rackets." If we want to talk about "suckers," we can start with regular Joes who believe new stadiums will "boost the economy" and do billionaires' arguing for them on social media. At least the sale of stock is voluntary. Can't believe how much negative press this is getting but then again people just love whining about everything. Save it for the next billionaire who's able to tax a fast food cashier with no interest in sports to fund his new toy.
  13. Wow. I did not think this had ANY chance of happening.
  14. Lots of minor league team names are stupid and goofy. There's a huge trend of making the names hyperlocal, which I do like. I acknowledge fully that Supper Clubbers is a stupid name, but it's unique to WI. The mascot could be a giant fork or something. It's stupid. That's what the minors are. I would have been OK with any of the finalists.
  15. This has been discussed and I'm not a shareholder nor will I ever be ... but I don't think anyone is a sucker. People know exactly what they are getting. It's not like they are claiming the piece of paper to be anything more than it is. I'm glad enough people are willing to do this that it keeps the Packers healthy and thriving. It's just one of the reasons a place like GB has a professional sports team; it's pretty endearing to me when there are places the size of Miami and Phoenix that can't fill stadiums.
  16. That drives the price of the contract up though, Berrios was about to have an out. If you signed Burnes to a deal now, he doesn't have to wait until 2025 to get the security and huge deal, he skips arbitration altogether. He wouldn't sign a 7-year deal but you might be able to buy out a year, or two, of FA.
  17. I'd give Burnes that in a millisecond.
  18. $73k to come in and stand around for a week.
  19. He was a great Brewer. They can't really pay him $8 million though I'd rather do that than see JBJ play another game.
  20. I thought Supper Clubbers would have been cool and unique. I'm ok with the rebrand. The jerseys are cool too.
  21. I don't care for the Badgers even though my parents went to UW and I grew up with them being fans. I get on their wagon when they're really good but generally find them boring to watch. I've always felt like Marquette, while consistently worse overall, has a better chance to land the freak that would give them a lucky run. I'm not a huge college fan in general but MU being "little brother" is sort of funny to me. They're 6-6 with UW over the last 10 years or so and MU has by far the best player out of either program of the last like, 50 years. Both programs have had their share of fun teams during my lifetime. UW has been really bad a lot less, but it's not some glory program I would ever be jealous of. I grew up in the MKE area so that played a role too.
  22. I'm not a believer in the Rams and Stafford is the reason why. He'll give you a better fantasy football season than Goff but there is a reason the Lions lost a ton of games while guys like Rodgers, Mahomes and Brady can will the worst of rosters to 10 wins. Stafford is and always has been way too capable of dropping enormous duds. I just can't see him outperforming Rodgers in a playoff game. I also just don't see "superstar" in Kyler Murray but that is just a weird gut feeling I get watching him play. Tampa is still the only team I'd really prefer we just don't play.
  23. Packers got a really friendly placement of the bye this year so you could see both back after just missing 2 games.
  24. I'm starting to feel like it's just best practice to fire your DC every 4 years just to keep it fresh.
  25. Both Kevin King and Rashan Gary played phenomenal games today. Both have played well for a big part of the season. Whole buffets of crow are being served right now. Stokes played phenomenal. King played well. King has played 4 games this year. I don't know that he's serving up a buffet of crow based on that body of work. Gary played well. The whole defense played well. I hope Gary is starting to live up to the hype and provide some depth and talent to the GB Packers d-line. I also think the criticism the pick has received up til now has been somewhat valid. It sucks in the NFL to pay a 1st round pick for 3 years to develop, only to see them get really good at the end of that development cycle and then go somewhere else with that talent, if that's what they choose to do. King has never been that bad of a player. He can't stay healthy. Either doesn't play at all or plays hurt. He's had a handful of god-awful plays at some inopportune times which has led to a drastic exaggeration of how bad he is and why he was retained. He will most likely be someone's starting corner next season, it just probably won't be here due to $$ and roster construction. I am not saying he's some great player. But he's the NFL's version of a replacement level corner and has had a good few weeks.
