McCarthy is a dud. You don't go from this bad to competent starter when you are already throwing to one of the best receivers in the league. I'll grant that their OL has been constantly hurt, but the days of QBs taking years to develop are over. He isn't going to get 3 years of mediocrity to prove he can play. And he hasn't been mediocre.
They made a mistake with Darnold and will pay for it. I don't think Darnold is terrific either, but he's competent. It would have been one thing to let Darnold walk if he were 34, but he wasn't, he was a top pick that suffered with a dysfunctional team.
Another game the Packers should dominate, particularly with this front 7 against an awful QB, but that of course it means it'll come down to a last-second FG.
