  1. ^That's well established to be false. The crowds don't really go anywhere even when the team sucks. There are more sellouts when they win, and a boost in attendance, but 2.5 million and 2.3 million in '15 and 16, 68- and 73-win seasons. They were still damn near 2 million winning 56 games. It's actually remarkable given the size of the city. So yes, they care about winning, but I think it's clear the majority just want a good time. Many are going 1-2x per year.
  2. Get me Kyle Seager and I'm pumped for 2020
  3. Broxton is a AAA player that comes off the bench to play defense in the 7th inning if someone gets hurt.
  4. At this point I am thinking the Brewers are shooting for a lower K team that puts the ball in play more often. Every new acquisition thus far fits that profile. Smoak is not exactly a low K guy but Thames isn't either and he does switch hit.
  5. This is the first one I really don't care for at all.
  6. This year, for the Pro Bowl? Yes, it's not close. Rodgers has a top 10 OL this season. He has Aaron Jones and Adams. Yes the WR group is thin after him, but there is plenty that looks diminished about Rodgers to think he's not the guy he used to be. Rodgers has a better passer rating by 1 point and trails in QBR and yards by 20 and 1000. The Pro Bowl is supposed to be this year's achievements, not your career. Of course it never is that. Favre got named to the game in several flat-out poor seasons. Rodgers isn't there yet, but no, he's not a top 3 QB in the NFC this season. We're talking about the Pro Bowl, not the MVP. The rest of the roster shouldn't be relevant. Rodgers look about as magical as Favre did at this point. Still good, and far less turnover prone, but clearly someone that needs quality support everywhere and can't take over games by himself.
  7. I'm a bit surprised by that. I think they're a favorite, but the Vikings have just not been consistent enough to me for a 6-pt spread. I get thinking GB is a paper tiger completely, but I think Minnesota is closer to them than the consensus top 3.
  8. I don't think this is accurate. He wasn't that highly regarded, certainly nowhere near where Lindor and Betts stand, at the time of the trade. He exploded after coming to MKE. He was a good, young player, I don't think anyone thought he was a cornerstone guy at the time of the deal. If they traded for another Yelich you wouldn't be able to tell it.
  9. Yeah, I'm really exhausted of this "they gotta win now because Yelich" take. Having one superstar player doesn't mean you start sloppily tossing cash at every shiny thing you can see. It seems people forgot how they got him the first place, how little they are paying him, and how divisive the initial trade was.
  10. Jones is a great playmaker and a huge part of what the Packers do both running and in the passing game, but you can't really place him above any of the three guys they picked. I think each of those three guys is the kind of back that can really take over a game even when his team is overmatched, but Jones isn't. When the blocking breaks down he runs 10 times for 25 yards. He fits into the offense well but all three of those guys are really dynamic players.
  11. A lot of top teams only had 2-3 guys. The Bears had more than the Packers. It's always dumb. Especially since the two the Packers had shouldn't be there. One of DBak's worst seasons, although I don't really study LT play. And Rodgers is no way a top 3 QB in the NFC this year. Just off the top of my head, Cousins, Prescott, Wentz have all been better. But you get in on pedigree, that's always been the case. The last time I looked it up, Winston had a higher QBR despite throwing like 20 picks. He's just been totally unimpressive this year. To me the only guys that warranted it from GB didn't get picked, either one of the Smiths or both would have been reasonable.
  12. Looking forward to it. I haven't sat down to watch the start of one since SF. The last few games I missed either the whole thing or large chunks. I figured they'd make the playoffs so they weren't all that important to see. The playoffs are a lot more interesting to me if they can get a bye. It makes it feel like they have a puncher's chance if there's a skip week and a home game against anyone. Definitely going to be the most hostile environment a lot of this team has ever played in. And after the SF game MLF really needs to have them come out and at least look formidable.
  13. Well, I hope he makes the team. Always liked him.
  14. Yeah, we got the joke.
  15. This guy's not starting at third. If people weren't on the edge of their seat waiting for a big move nobody would be LOLing this, they just wouldn't care. It's not like they won't be signing guys like this, regardless of what else they do. There are spots you have to fill. There are certain people here though (not you) that I'm not sure they even like the team anymore. I'm not a big rah rah positive guy but the LOL/Attanasio is cheap/need to win now schtick is really getting old.
  16. They tried. Doesn't want to be here. The big obstacle people often dismiss.
  17. Would be pretty easy for him to get to 550 PA if he's healthy and someone else is hurt.
  18. Braun is not playing a full season at first. It won't happen. I don't know why people always jump to these conclusions but it's not fantasy baseball. None of the outfielders play 162, even Yelich is not the most durable guy assuming he plays there. There's still at least 80 appearances in the OF for Braun with Garcia there. Who knows how many games Cain can play anyway.
  19. Don't know about minors but he was a 1B in high school and the Marlins considered moving him there early on but didn't.
  20. I'd never considered this and think it's a pretty great idea. You don't need him in the OF as it stands and 1B would probably be much easier on his back. His length might play well at first, and he's got a poor OF arm anyway.
  21. The problem is that this year, with this team, a lot of those caveats are legitimate. You can't gloss over them dodging Mahomes like it wasn't a big deal. It is. You can't say Carolina was a good win, they're 5-9. If Dalvin Cook doesn't play, that's a huge deal. We'd do the same thing if we lost a game without Adams, like people did when we lost to the Eagles and he missed the last drive. I'd still be impressed if they won though, Cook or not.
  22. I'm not sure you recognize this, but the teams don't have a prisoner relationship with the players. A one-year deal is often all they want to sign.
