  1. Overpay is so overused. Overpay means you could have had the same thing for less. I am not so sure that applies here. Also not so sure Braun goes anywhere yet.
  2. For the record, I never thought he wouldn't play. I was just saying, in the memorabilia group I'm in, with some very trusted guys I've dealt with for many years, they've been saying he started saying that after the Big 10 championship. I don't do autos anymore, and I think he just doesn't want to sign stuff, but I don't doubt that he said it for a second. I just figured he was having fun with some dudes that annoy him.
  3. It existed in the offense. They will always be creative in the field, but Grandal and Moose were a lot of OPS to replace.
  4. FWIW (nothing), Taylor has been telling autograph seekers to get bent since the end of the season, telling them he charges now and he's not playing in the bowl game, lol.
  5. Yes, they scored 6 on the Bears and 16 points on the Packers in the first 4 games. That's sucking at the start of the season, the first 1/4 of it. That's the cut off point, because it was after the loss to Chicago that Thielen took a thinly veiled shot at Cousins about deep balls, and that's when the tide started to turn. Even in their opening win Cousins threw like 12 passes. The passing offense is much different than it was in the first 1/4 of the season, not averaging 185 yards anymore. I'm not sure anybody is saying the Packers are a vastly inferior team or that they can't win. But I would take Minnesota's talent at the skill positions and their playmakers over ours. If both teams are clicking on all cylinders, I do think they are better.
  6. What's also telling is they're 2nd in differential despite having good but not really great takeaway numbers. The Steelers have 12 more and Seahawks have 9 but still sit behind them. They're 5th in INTs, but there's not a lot of league-wide separation there with a bunch of teams clustered between 10 and 15. It's really almost entirely Rodgers never turning the ball over, the thing people scream about when he gets sacked or tosses it out of bounds. In their one blow out loss, he fumbled early inside the 10.
  7. Minnesota's offense sucked at the start of the season, that is where it comes from. You can't cherry-pick a game they won by 30 and say it turned on one play and hold it against them, c'mon. The fact is they've beaten the crap out of some teams, sure most of them bad, but I'm still waiting on the Packers to do it to anyone. Oakland maybe? I'm not sure they're significantly better than GB for the simple reason they look horrible for entire halves of games. It's a wildly inconsistent team and yes, the defense is not what it has been...but it's still better than ours. And their offense is too. They just have more playmakers. As much as it stinks to admit, and whatever cause we can blame, Cousins has been more efficient than Rodgers this year. The stats look fairly similar until you see he's got a 70-63 completion percentage advantage, but the bigger tell is the full yard more per attempt. And Thielen has missed a lot of time. The Cook injury is significant though, that's the most dynamic player they've got, and if he's not there it certainly makes things easier.
  8. I have trouble believing they can snap out of it because it's kind of been that team for 15 weeks. If I could sum up the frustrations with the Packers in a nutshell it would be that I haven't really seen them get better at anything as the season has gone on. No second WR ever really stepped up, saying Lazard did is a stretch, but expecting a whole lot more out of him is not reasonable. Minnesota, who I'm not sure is any better than the Packers, if at all, has at least blown out a lot of teams. Maybe Rashan Gary is about to be unleashed? I don't know. But I just see the same offense I've seen all year. However, it's within the realm of possibility that getting to the NFCCG means beating the Saints at home in the 2nd round. That doesn't seem too far fetched. If you can get past that and then you're talking one well played game to the Super Bowl, and it's football. Anything can happen. I think Monday night should tell us if this team has made any strides. It's going to be the most hostile place they've been all year vs. a team that's much better than they were in the first game.
  9. No one going to point that he said Matt Lauer?
  10. I agree with basically everything you say about the Packers, but this isn't true. The interception is the most statistically influential play in the NFL and the Packers have thrown two. Even fumbles don't influence the outcome as much, because they're more or less random events. A dead drive at the 45 is still a punt, it doesn't influence the game nearly as much as a TO. If there's a smoking gun for how the Packers are 11-3, it's the 9 giveaways all year.
  11. I'd buy into that if the Packers hadn't looked a certain way literally the entire year. They are just not an impressive team in the kindest terms. They have very little battle testing on the resume. You can legitimately argue that today was their best win, a division opponent that had started to play much better football. They dodged Mahomes, they caught teams like Minnesota at opportune times in the year, I don't know if Carolina has won a game since playing them. In their ONE clear-cut blue Chip matchup, they got embarrassed. They didn't just lose, they were humiliated. There just hasn't been a "wow" game. It's not to say they're a bad team, they're a good one. But it is the reason for trepidation when it comes to thinking they could win the NFC. I'm OK with them not winning it. Totally at peace with any playoff outcome. I just really don't think they're a Super Bowl team.
  12. If they are going to lose by 30 again to somebody I'd rather it be SF. To get a 1 seed SF almost definitely has to win the last one in SEA. I'd really prefer not to see the Packers lose another NFCCG in Seattle. Anything but that.
  13. The only thing they do as well as anyone is not shoot themselves in the foot. Haven't looked it up but it feels like they have almost no turnovers this year. And Crosby is good. But each component of rushing and passing O and D have looked awful at different parts of the year. Just been a strange season. Not sure there's one game that was smooth sailing for 4 quarters. I am interested to see how they look on the road, in prime time, against a good team with a good QB 2 weeks before the playoffs.
  14. Imo, they need the bye if there's any chance of some matchups going their way and winning the NFC. This is not a run the table wild card team. I'm not sure they're 30 points worse than SF and weird stuff happens. But getting that bye is really a necessity to me. If they got a bye and won a game, to me that's an incredible year for this team.
  15. Not sure you want a 1 seed with #5 being Seattle or SF. The most likely scenario is those two play each other again in the 2nd round. You have a pretty decent shot the #5 wins that game anyway and you get HFA by default as the #2 or even #3.
  16. I don't think anyone thinks the Packers aren't good, just that they aren't a real title contender, which I would agree with. They do nothing exceptionally well. Definitely their strangest season I've lived through.
  17. They have like 34 guys on the 40 man. It should be going to a better player though. I want at least like 24 Trouts.
  18. I'm with you, I'm just saying, their rotation is probably not going to look great on paper, it just doesn't seem to be what they do. But I'm not gonna look at some back end depth signing and blast it, because that's all it's meant to be. I still think something is cooking, at least I desperately hope that's the case. There has to be at least one moderate fish they have their eye on.
  19. The rotation they wound up using last year, if you can call it that, looked like a 56-win team without context. They're going to end up starting 10 different guys anyway. This is just another guy, I wouldn't read into it.
  20. Let's go for 74-8!
  21. He's the perfect trade candidate until everybody thinks he is, which appears to be happening. I trust they'll only do so if it makes sense.
  22. I'm not trying to be a buzzkill and the chants themselves are whatever. People want to do it, cool. It's when people start assigning bloated value to mediocre players because they like chanting their name. I'm half kidding but I do think it plays a role. I'm not saying Moose was mediocre, I liked him, he was fine. He's just really not some monumental loss and I don't think he's worth $64m.
  23. People like doing Kuhn, Moose, etc., chants and it makes them overrate those players. I saw someone refer to Moose as an incredible player yesterday.
  24. I'm not that old, but why was replace taken out of the game? If they had it as late as 1989 and put it back in 1999 that must have been a really short period without.
  25. At some point teams aren't overpaying and this is what guys cost. If the Brewers sign anybody with name recognition prepare for it to be "overpayment."
