  1. Or one of the best!!!!! Well, as of the 5th inning of Game 4, the Cards have just scored as many runs in the NLCS as the Brewers did in the Wild Card game.
  2. They had a philosophical argument. Bielma is a Socrates guy and Bennett prefers Plato. The Bennett doofuses are two of the most faux intellectuals I've ever seen among public figures. Neither has an ounce of integrity.
  3. If the Packers get to 6-1 it's going to be really hard to miss the playoffs. That KC game doesn't look all that scary anymore either. SF looks scarier.
  4. If that's not what he was doing the article was a waste of time. I thought it was generally accepted that you aren't paying FAs a reward for what they've already done.
  5. It makes sense to go "above market" for two ascending players considering you are buying out a bunch of years of FA. They both checked off every box for "good player that has a good chance to get better." You have to factor in potential when you sign a player their age and try to figure out market value. That is the risk of FA. You are buying potential most of the time.
  6. You get accused of having a terrible take either way.
  7. I had a similar thought and that's exactly why I say kill it all. Because this precedent they've set can't stop.
  8. Meanwhile, the top thread on a certain Lions website right now is "Booger appreciation thread"
  9. I think it's more likely that they would've won at least like 5 in a row, but maybe the ones at the end, the dynasty may have been picked apart by then, or maybe he burns out earlier than '98.
  10. I think he probably would have. The Bulls were pretty dominant in the series that they won, I don't recall a single one of them going 7, and the league had some pretty strong parity back then. Houston had their hands full with the Knicks the first year and I just can't see that Knicks team doing anything to Jordan's Bulls.
  11. They are in the clickbait business, not the analysis business. I'm telling you, GBP are among the most easily baited, largest in number fans in sports. I remember meeting Don Walker (RIP) and him telling me that a JSOnline story about a back up long snapper coming in for a work out reliably will get more clicks than a presidential election. Most of the figureheads at ESPN are just regurgitating producer talking points with their own character spin on it.
  12. The MNF thing is dead on. That happens on a noon game and no one outside DET cares.
  13. Bhak is playing LT he is not getting mugged in an alley. If that's his genuine reaction to a hand on his shoulder pad he would not be the best LT in the NFL. I could buy the coincidence if he drew the flag once, but he is snapping back on the 2nd one like Tyson hit him with an uppercut. Fine with it, good play on his part, whatever.
  14. I don't know you're getting that worked up over the suggestion that Bhaktiari might sell a penalty. It's totally plausible that the Packers noticed him going high on tape when he pass rushes, and either let the officials know to watch for it, let their tackles know to sell it, or both. That kind of thing is commonplace in NFL film rooms. It's far from absurd, and players in every league sell penalties all the same. I wouldn't even call it dirty or sketchy, it's part of the game.
  15. Shrugging off a bad call is one thing. Pretending the call was good or justifying it with freeze frames is another. I advocate shrugging it off. The crying clock when a call goes the wrong way should last until about 7 a.m. the next morning. Personally, I find the "But they still had chances to win" schtick pretty tired. That's stuff coaches tell their teams because it's a healthier outlook to have. In spite of 58 second-half yards the Lions had that thing all but locked up. The Packers also threw a doink pick at the goal line. Had they lost like they should have I would have pointed to that and said they deserved it. But like I said, the Packers are 5-1 via gift, so I'm glad but I'll own that gift. And while we're shrugging stuff off, Jerry Rice's '98 fumble still ticks me off more than any other blown call.
  16. Valid calls by rule that the "offensive lineman flopped for?" Come on, man. That's a really bad hot take. I dunno, seems pretty valid to me. They can call marshmallow stuff like that on every play if they want. I'm sure hands wind up near the face on basically every snap. You can nitpick holding too. That's why the officials have so much power. If they go looking for stuff they can call it. They're remarkably inconsistent, which is why fans hate them so much. I've never thought the NFL has team-driven conspiracies, however I do think they have some kind of league directive to shift how they call things to tighten games for TV. You see it week in and week out. One team is within striking distance and suddenly everything is pass interference. Like they flag it back into a competitive game and then let the players sort it out. They were doing it last week for Dallas. I think in practice in more subtle than I'm making it sound, but it sure as hell feels like they shift their use of flags depending on how the game is going.
  17. Any game that isn't 31-0 can be rationalized away as a team missing opportunities. They Lions could have done themselves a favor by getting TDs instead of FGs, but if that first hands to face penalty isn't called it's very, very hard for me to see the Packers winning that game. Maybe the Lions handed that game to the Packers. But the Packers handed it right back and the officials said no, no, we insist. It was horribly officiated. Not the first time, not the last time, and the Packers have been on the wrong end more than once. The people convinced the league has some pro-Packers, pro-Patrtiots conspiracy going make me cringe, but the zebras screwed Detroit last night. We can pick apart every mistake they made but GB fans would be absolutely livid wearing the other shoe this morning. Because it has happened and they are livid.
  18. Lol, we need to stop. Those flags were atrocious. Let's be the realists that own it instead of freeze framing a guys gloves brushing Bak's jawline. There is pretty much nothing you can tell from that freeze frame and I highly doubt THAT is what the official saw. This is the same crap Seahawks fans did in '12. Took one frame that looked borderline and went "Yep, the right call!" The Oscar goes to David Bahktiari. Packers get a break, move on.
  19. I thought he was short on that touchdown, but also thought he pretty clearly scored on 3rd down after the replay.
  20. I find the college football 25 yard OT thing lame. I know I'm in the minority but never liked it.
  21. ^Which is why I said that flag is always called. Refs see helmet on helmet, that flag comes out 100% of the time. I've said this a bunch of times but please kill replay. It hasn't solved anything. Loads of mistakes still in the game and we're just slowing the pace of play and killing the suspense factor. All of it, kill it. No don't keep it for blatantly missed calls because they still screw those up too. Just get rid of it all and live with human error. I can pinpoint the decline of this sport's TV product to replay coming back. We all overreacted to bad calls and guess what, we still have them.
  22. Packers may be a lucky 5-1 but they aren't any luckier than Seattle who's basically won tonight's game 5 times.
  23. He's trying to get by an all-pro LT, not that easy to pick where you want to go.
  24. I thought the same thing Plush. He probably scores if they fake like they're trying to stop him. Then his instincts probably carry him in. The way they just sat there gave him time to think.
  25. FGs are just too goofy. I'm running it in with 15 seconds left over a FG every time but that's me.
