  1. Don't see how tomorrow's game happens unless they get lucky and it drizzles all afternoon. Dare I say they just play the game Monday at Miller Park. Edit: Cards don't have off. Well, make'em play at 9am and fly to AZ later.
  2. I'd hope the Brewers would prioritize having Hader available over where the game is played, but that's me.
  3. Brewers would really have to cough this up at this point. 90% odds mid-game, probably 92-93 if they pull this off.
  4. Almost feel bad for the Cubs. Four consecutive one-run losses. It's not like they laid down.
  5. They usually do 4, not 8. Might've been 8 for NLDS but I actually don't remember. I am guessing they are a little self conscious about selling it out given that it's just a one-game playoff and on a weekday during the day, and that playoff fatigue has probably set in a bit - people won't go crazy for a one game wild card a year after making the NLCS. I think it's fair that SSH get a presale though whether or not they buy a strip. The alternative would be just releasing to the public right away which makes even less sense to me. SSH front the team a lot of money, really overpay for most of their package without any guarantee at all that the playoff privilege is worth anything. I only have two seats but I always have more than two people to take to a playoff game. Made sense to me that they get first dibs before I had season tickets, makes more sense now. If a SSH has five people they want to go to a game with I think they should get that privilege before general public. I'm not really interested in reselling this year though, seems a bit risky. For the reasons I stated above, but even if they get to the NLDS you could be sitting on expensive seats with a team down 0-2. Didn't have that issue last year when they had the best record. The one time it happened with Game 6, it got very hard to sell extras to that game.
  6. I missed the whole story from last night about Brown sending the reporter's source intimidating texts. Lol. This guy really is a dope.
  7. His career very well may be over because he's not very young. I'd guess the season is, then this whole thing plays out, if it has merit he probably gets suspended, by the time he's out he's 32 or something and hasn't played and then there is the question who wants to take a chance. If he were 27, he would have an epiphany and someone would absolutely sign him but the age combined with the whole thing may spell the end. Dez Bryant is the same age.
  8. They lock access if you sell from the presales - at least last year they did, but only for the World Series that never happened. However, they do nothing if you sell seats from the strip. Making it quite easy to buy what you want in the presale, sell the strip assuming they are worse seats, and break even or walk away with a couple bucks while still getting to the game. I suspect they figured the locking thing out after realizing how many got sold off, so I anticipate anyone who sells from the presales will get locked out earlier on this year.
  9. Another brutal secondary. Packers should take this one but the Broncos are a formidable opponent. Not a great game for gauging the defense yet though. Probably won't be able to do that until Dallas, but definitely will get a test in Kansas City.
  10. I honestly just want us to get in so it can feel like we didn't fall off the earth after a good season. It's never happened in my lifetime. And it would make me far more optimistic about next season.
  11. Lol, no confidence there at all, just have no preference in that game at all, because it's one game. We've shelled Kershaw before and been shut out by no names off the AAA shuttle. That game will be a total toss-up. There is very little strategy that comes into play when any pitcher can tank the first inning and end your season.
  12. I want the WC I think. I'd like to play the Dodgers, because why not? Underdog against anybody and team is on borrowed time. Just give me the Dodgers in a best of 5 and see what happens.
  13. Punting has changed drastically. If you can't directional punt you don't know play very long. The number of returns per game is much lower than it was even five years ago, a shell of it was 15 years ago. Teams also figured it out it is better to hang the ball an extra .5 second and punt it 5 yards shorter than give Devin Hester and Dante Hall 15 yards of green space. The league hasn't discouraged punt returns but the game has.
  14. Jumped all the way to 74% for the playoffs today. Cubs plunge to 32%. Both Fangraphs and 538 have a 10% shot at the division which sounds about right.
  15. I'm gonna say this because what I say doesn't influence anything, but the Cubs are done. I'll be fairly surprised if they win 86 games.
  16. Don't need to see my post, I haven't changed what I said. They aren't that close to each other. Three are. The Cardinals are +3 with 9.5 to go, really not as close as people want it to be. And they play one of those teams 7 times. Each time they beat the Cubs this scenario is less and less likely because it's nearly impossible they're not at least a WC. Sorry I just do not see a realistic scenario in which the Brewers pick up 3 games on St Louis (which would only tie them btw) - without the Cubs being pushed back far enough that the Brewers are at least a wild card or playing a tiebreaker to be one. Which is what my statement boils down to. What is amusing to me is that you can't acknowledge that 3/4 teams winning 70% of their last ten and all four going .500+ is unlikely. I didn't even say anything remotely controversial.
  17. Glad my rooting interest doesn't matter because I wouldn't know who to pick. I want clearance of Chicago but I'm still clinging to a division dream.
  18. It's not whatever I say. It's mathematically really unlikely to occur. I don't know how you'd go about figuring out the actual odds of that outcome, but it is probably less than 5%...which...was my original point? The Brewers winning 89 games, having a shot at the division into the final series, and then not making the playoffs at all...is super unlikely.
  19. Philly won't lay down for the Nats. Way too much bad blood there.
  20. How is it super unlikely for Cubs to win 7, Brewers 7, Nats 6 (of 11), and Cards 5? That's hardly egregious. They're all winning teams fighting for a playoff spot with everything to play for. It's not like 3 teams have to go 9-1. And if that happens, we have a 3 way tie and Brewers are still within one game of the division with no guarantee of postseason. I would feel a whole lot better if Cards take care of business in their 7 against the Cubs to knock one of the four out and give the Brewers more wiggle room. The bottom line is the more the Cubs lose, the more padding the Brewers have because Cards are already + 3 on us. I totally get the people who are all in for the division. But it's gonna be really tough to win 8 or 9 of 10 to have a reasonable shot at the division. Postseason Brewers baseball isn't exactly something we're used to so I just want in. It's super unlikely. Your scenario would involve both the Cubs and Brewers exceeding their projected win totals, 3 of the 4 teams winning at a higher percentage than they have all season, and (arguably) the best team of the bunch performing the worst of the four. It can happen, but it's super unlikely.
  21. Going to be nice to get our win out of the way and then sit back and enjoy a rival loss.
  22. Hill is out 6 weeks, thus no returns. I agree on it mostly being about don't be stupid, and don't fumble. Davis was kind of stupid though, and I had a heart attack when he didn't FC. Or he would FC and then block someone... The actual punter you have is much more important than your PR. It used to be more valuable back in the day, but they've really discouraged returns so it's getting slowly taken out of the game.
  23. I'm not writing off the Cubs but I feel that their only real way in is the division or an implosion from the Nationals. I feel somewhat confident that the 2 NLC teams in the playoffs won't be STL/CHC. They get to play St. Louis, so they control their own destiny. But if they get bashed in by the Cardinals they need more help than we do IMO.
