  1. You can still be disappointed that he doesn’t get a ball in play with a guy on third with less than two outs. Both mid sets can exist. It’s not lost on many what Yelich has done for this ball team. Yeah the rah rah see the positive in every single failure thing is getting old. It is a live game. We can get mad at stuff.
  2. Planning future bathroom and snack breaks around Aguilar. That AB was fine, but his swing and misses could be looped GIFs. We are making Kershaw work. If we can hold them off a little while longer things are looking good.
  3. I think it is safe to say no one is winning the World Series without scoring runs. That being said, lets give the pitching a little bit of credit. Yeah, IDK, obviously the pitching hasn't been bad, but this is getting so ridiculous that it can't be just good pitching, on either side. Our offense might be still be trying to score if last night's game hadn't ended. Their staff has it easier than ours does with the lineups between the two, but there have been really bad at bats.
  4. If you think that ball hit anything other than his glove, I'm speechless.
  5. It was definitely not a catch, as evidenced by the call on the field and the review. We get it dude, you think were gonna lose. No need to be negative all the time. Lmao. What? That isn't negativity and has nothing to do with me thinking we are going to lose. That ball never hit the ground and bounced off the webbing of his glove. Get lost. Only someone who wanted that to hit the ground thinks that it did.
  6. I don't have sound. Was that not reviewed? It was definitely a catch.
  7. I tent to agree with this take. Which is why I think if that becomes apparent early you really have to balance having arms for the final push at winning 2 vs. desperately clinging to this one.
  8. I wish I'd gone to bed because I'm running on 3 hours and feel dead. And we lost.
  9. I think it is one thing to be annoyed with people losing their minds on every pitch in May. Now is the time to lose your mind and I won't apologize for experiencing the full spectrum of emotions from minute to minute.
  10. Deviating from original plan, they are only billing the final postseason strip payment if the Brewers make the WS. Originally they were billing that charge today if the season was still going on.
  11. Closer we get to game time I am naturally getting more optimistic. I think Yelich is pissed. He, Cain and Braun are going to bring this home with a lead.
  12. Pulling Cain is crazy talk dude. You don't bench a guy that is going to get MVP votes in Game 5 of the NLCS for Curtis Granderson. Shaw should not be in there with Kershaw. No offense but I am glad you aren't setting the lineup.
  13. You can't quantify because there is no predictive value with it. David Ortiz dominated the playoffs in 2007 and then completely stunk in 2008. Did he suddenly become "unclutch"? Alex Rodriguez was known as one of the most "uncluth" players ever and then suddenly dominated in the 2009 playoffs? Did he suddenly become "clutch"? Because again, there are a million moving parts within the examples you just gave. In no way does that mean certain people don't crack under pressure. I don't get the argument, really. Do people really believe that some aren't better at handling pressure than others? I don't get how a person can think that, just by living on Earth and interacting with others, forget about in sports. Basically this whole "clutch doesn't exist" thing came about because some stats guys debunked a bunch of guys typically thought of as being "very clutch." That doesn't disprove a thing about the basis of the argument.
  14. Yeah...that was my point. It's hard to provide "evidence" of something that nobody can quantify because nobody will agree on a definition of it. You can go with RISP or something and someone else will say RISP is different in mid May than late September, or that is different if the pitcher is Clayton Kershaw, Jimmy Nelson or Jesse Orosco. You can't quantify it. That makes people easily dismiss it, which to me, is simply taking an "out" of the debate. Comments that it shouldn't be debated in 2018 don't make you right, it just makes you sound kind of smug.
  15. And those of us who believe clutchness is a thing don't believe that the absence of easily quantifiable proof means a thing doesn't exist. It is equally puzzling to me that people deny a very simple human reality that some people handle pressure much better than others.
  16. Yeah, I think if it becomes obvious we need Hader to pitch, he is going to. They have tomorrow off, his load has been fairly light. I think today he is the "break in case of emergency" guy.
  17. If we win this game, I would throw Chacin Friday in the hopes that Davies does not need to pitch.
  18. That isn't really a great example of clutch. I remember many years ago, 60 minutes did a segment on this. They had 5-6 people in a room on a putting green. Then after they hit, they told all of them they were on national TV and did it again. 5 of them were drastically worse and 1 guy got better. It's obviously imperfect, but it gets to the point. Are pro athletes a little more immune to that? Yeah, obviously. But it's not at all an influence when the situation is more tense? I just can't believe that, they are humans, not robots. I absolutely believe some guys freeze up in October with a guy on 2nd more than they would in the middle of May.
  19. I think the argument is that "clutch hitting" is not really a thing. If you get a hit with runners in scoring position, that's just coincidence, not "clutch". Also, you can't control the hitters in front of you and if they are getting on base before your AB. So, hit's and walks are more important to look at than RBIs. I’ve heard that argument many times. I play a lot of golf and I can promise you it’s not a coincidence that some players hit the 18th the green in regulation and some don’t. People who say timing of hits are a coincidence haven’t played a lot of competitive sports. It’s really just that since stats can’t quantify “clutch” it’s so oddly dismissed. I completely agree with you. It is just human nature. Some people are more easily flustered in high stakes situations. Other guys like it, or able to just tune it out and pretend they're in the backyard. I've always been bothered by that mantra that it isn't a thing. Anyone that has played sports knew which guys were better in those scenarios.
