  1. I know, I had the same thought. It is funny. He could have not gotten along with somebody for all we know.
  2. Doesn't Yelich already have a GG from Miami? I think you may be being a bit harsh. He doesn't have Broxton speed, but he is definitely fast. His arm is pretty accurate, but it is definitely lacking in the power department. GGs in some ways, over the past decade, have sort of become an award for the best defensive player who can also hit
  3. Homer that is what happened. I was here then too albeit I had a different username that I don't even remember.
  4. The only thing I wish would go are Packers updates
  5. If I had to guess, I would guess the Brewers sell on some established veterans like Davies, Anderson, Guerra, guys who can contribute to a major league roster right away. The Brewers don't seem to value SP at a premium and seem confident in their own pipeline of prospects but also being able to find value guys that fit what they are doing. They had several luxuries on the pitching staff this year, and my total guess is that they deal some of the veterans to add bats. They could be part of a deal with prospects too, but that is my estimate of what we add in the offseason. A contact bat that can hit LHP.
  6. Debating people is just fine, telling them to be positive or can the "negativity" is annoying. There was a guy in one the NLCS threads that told me to can the negativity because I said a base hit from Cain definitely bounced off the webbing of the CF's glove and he should have been called out. Which it did. Being impartial is often deemed as "negative" which is part of the reason people complain about Joe Buck so much. Because he isn't calling the game like Bill Schroeder and obviously in the Brewers back pocket, that means he "hates them."
  7. I never understand all the complaining about the IGT threads. It's a place for all the personalities on these boards to chat during the games. There will be disagreements, emotion, etc., which to me makes it fun. If it was a sterile environment, where there was no disagreement, difference of opinion, or emotion, what fun would that be? If it gets to be too much, I take a break for a day or two, but I always go back. lol Too many people on their high horses want to dictate other people's responses, etc. That is worse than the people who bring the negativity and stress imo. Yeah, I agree. I get sick of every single IGT vent being met with "So much negativity man!" It is annoying. There are basically two types of sports fans. One that is rah-rah no matter what, and one that is always expecting the worst. And being the latter does not make you a worse fan, but that is the way it is treated. The optimistic ones have more of a tendency to get on a high horse, which frankly is more annoying to me than actually whining about the team. When a relief pitcher comes in and gives up a 3-run homer I am not going to be Mr. Smiley about it.
  8. I wouldn't "toast" them just yet but yeah it is getting there. I think Boston has probably taken their best shot. The lineup is just too good, your only hope is hit the starters early and hand it over to an elite pen. Their SP isn't by any stretch bad, but I think if there is a hole that is it. If you could combine the Dodgers lineup with our pen I think it would be a better series.
  9. Do you happen to have the last game of the year available on 4/10?
  10. The Brewers seemed to do a lot of "experiments" this year and I am not sure they really thought about them as long as they should have. Overall it seemed pretty solid. It may seem confusing but it was very easy and tbh, a great plan if you had a cheaper package of reg. season seats. You are offered the strip in August and told that is the only guarantee of seats. Whether you buy it or not, you get the presales, which are not necessarily guaranteed. The codes only came into play for the World Series. The pre-sales are awesome, depending on your vantage point, because they allowed you to buy a pair of seats in the terrace for $640 for 20 games, get every SSH perk, and then sit in the diamond box for the playoff if you so desired. I can see that irking people who hold expensive seats, but selfishly speaking, it was incredible and the deal of a lifetime. I was terrace seat holder that sat club and infield box all playoffs. Had they made it to the WS, I was sitting 120 Row 5 on Saturday. It was hard to believe.
  11. You always need more arms than you think. Always. In the end of season news conference Counsell and Stearns kept getting peppered with rotation questions and at one point Counsell just said "Look, the reality is you need 9-10 starting pitchers to get through a season." They won't just give a guy away because of space limitations. They will figure out what is best for the team.
  12. Not postseason, but Costco has a really nice track jacket for $38. Seemed like about half the price of any stuff on mlb.com or the team store, and comes in blue or gray.
  13. This Red Sox team is being floated as the greatest team ever. If they are not that, they are one of them. That roster has no flaws. The Astros were being discussed as a dynasty after Game 2 of the ALCS, and they never won again. I've already decided the silver lining is that the Brewers may now make it in a different year when the matchup is more even.
  14. That strip is your only guarantee. That's the point. The presale can be taken away at any moment, like it was for the WS, or the number of tickets reduced to 2. If they continue making the playoffs, I'd bet there are changes to those presales, i.e. limits on tickets or number of games. Strip saved me because I had World Series tickets after they locked me out of the WS pre-sale. I had a connection with a code, otherwise I would have been 100% screwed without it. And even if they don't change it, the strip was very valuable to me. I sold every ticket in it at a gain and it allowed me to buy much better seats at the pre-sale. But again, that strip is the only time they guarantee you access to every playoff game. If they are good for 3-4 years, that's going to be much more valuable than it is today.
  15. I had the sinking feeling before Puig even hit. It was Taylor's catch in the outfield that immediately gave me the "this isn't going our way" gut feeling. Puig's HR was sort of confirmation. It is easier to appreciate the season today than it was Sunday and I suspect it will get better throughout the week.
  16. And this is exactly why I think there is still a chance he is retained and kept saying in IGTs. Because if you can get him to be even a slight regression of the player he was in 2017 he has value to the Brewers. He is 27. He has an offseason to study what went wrong, possibly work with some coaches and a spring training to adjust and get a fresh start. Not every player adapts to a new place like that right away. I don't feel bad for him and his performance was as terrible as everyone says, but I believe the Brewers are yet to decide what they're doing with him. It is not this cut and dry "he sucked, bye" thing that everyone seems think it is.
  17. Lmao, if Machado put on a Brewers uniform and OPS'd .975 with 38 homers we'd all forget about his issues real quick. Myself included. Jerry Sandusky is a dirt bag, Manny Machado is just a bit of your classic arrogant showman pro athlete. We got beat. I thought all the hubbub about it was weak while the series was going on; it is even weaker now.
  18. I fully expect almost no one to see it my way. But throwing the ball at Manny doesn't protect anybody. You suggested that it would "make him think twice," which is what I was mocking, in jest. It won't change anything nor does it protect anyone. I can't avoid the "winning the game" point because putting a guy on base is the opposite of the objective of the game when you pitch. I have always hated putting a guy on first to prove a point. Always, since I was 7 years old. I accept that it's a thing in the game, but I hate it, and always have, and think it is dumb and child-like.
  19. There's simply no way he can be in the traditional sense. Unless you want to watch him shut down come September. I agree he's an initial out-getter. It's probably safe to say he's a 2.5-3 pitch pitcher right now with projectable ability to be a 4 pitch pitcher. He's not a 4-pitch pitcher today. When we talk about the future model with your best guys throwing 150 innings, Burnes is definitely one of those guys. Well, you're going to be disappointed. Because he is a starter in 2019 unless he is hurt, or implodes in March. He is a 4-pitch pitcher and has been for a while, read any scouting report on him. When you are getting 3-6 outs per game you are not going to have a 4-pitch distribution so his 2018 pitch splits are useless for that discussion. But the team has stated he is a starter. So I don't know why this is a thing.
  20. Burnes has 4 pitches and is almost definitely a starter in 2019.
  21. "Manny, you've changed over the years. What was the impetus for you?" "Well to be honest it started when the Brewers threw a fastball at my back in April of 2019."
  22. I think he doesn't believe the tale about the Dodgers complaining about fans and having ushers look into it. And I don't believe it either.
  23. Accomplish nothing except put a runner on base and jeopardize a game in a sport where we tied for the division this year and missed the playoffs by a game last year. If they don't throw at him, half this board will be saying Counsell is weak or something and that he doesn't support the team so they won't support him. It is childish lunacy, and maybe the only thing I hate about baseball. "Retaliate" by handing over a competitive advantage. Imagine if football teams retaliated by clocking a WR and getting pass interference. In no facet of life is it deemed acceptable to hit somebody on purpose but for some reason it is OK in baseball, as long as the guy did something to mildly displease you first. So the same logic we admonish kindergarteners for.
  24. I agree that there will be a big name coming in. They have proven for a second straight year that they are closer than perhaps even if they thought. I don't know what position it will be but I feel confident there is going to be a big "get."
