  1. Wait... that wasn't Joe Pantoliano?
  2. Yeah, I realize it is supposed to look like they are in the snow... but puffy vests, jackets, stocking caps... at an indoor stadium. They must be sweating like crazy.
  3. I'm assuming you meant one of the two throws Goff had where the WR and he weren't on the same page? Honestly, I don't want those called intentional grounding... It was obvious he wasn't just avoiding a sack and we have so many rules the way it is.
  4. Love's improvement this year has been great. A big part of it is Reed and Musgrave's development, but Love's decision making and accuracy have also been much better.
  5. With Anders, I just keep looking forward. Yes, it would be nice to see him be a pro-bowl his rookie year, but I think the upside is worth dealing with the occasional miss. Missing PATs are frustrating as they should be automatic... But few PKs come into the NFL perfect. He wasn't great in college, so honestly this seems to be improvement.
  6. I still think Dillon would be a good HB. Block, short passes, run occasionally. At least he would be better than Deguara... low bar I know.
  7. Game Thread is open now! Great start Pack!
  8. Late start of thread, but good start of the game!
  9. The announcers made the point (repeatedly and ad nauseum) at how small Virginia was and how Florida got 21 rebounds (seriously, they said it close to 10 times) against Virginia. So I'm sure that will be the main blueprint to beat VA this year. FYI, WI got 20 offensive rebounds against VA.
  10. I think the simple answer is that he was passed up by other WRs. He was the best of a bad group of WRs last year. Pauling has come in and broken out this year as the clear top WR... He was pretty lightly used last year in Cincinnati last year. Green and Bell are also out there making plays and look more on par with Dike. CJ Williams is also out there as the 5th WR. Of those 5, only Dike and Bell (redshirt freshman) were out there last year. So just simply... we have more talent than last year.
  11. AKA, The Former Coach Chryst Bowl
  12. Rasual Douglas has a 2 INTs and a fumble recovery vs the Jets... thus decreasing the 3rd round pick we get from the Bills, but improving the 2nd round pick we get from the Jets.
  13. Last night was also my first game to watch.. I'm guessing @homer and I swung the tide with our viewership! 😂 The game started out very much like last year (including almost the same players) and I was a bit dismayed. But the bench was night-and-day better than last year. I'll second (third?...eleventh?...) uh, agree that Blackwell looked exciting out there. He and Chuckie in the backcourt was fun to watch. Storr was kind of quiet last night, but had his moments. How soon until the team is ranked? I'm not stamping my ticket to the final four yet, but surely they are a top 25 team (just beating #24). Fun to beat Tony Bennett also! Man he looks just like his dad... I was having major flashbacks.
  14. I remember in the offseason seeing a ranking of transfer QBs where Mertz and Mordecai were ranked fairly close together. It disturbed me at the time as I was expecting a big upgrade. I think this season just proves the lack of quality WR/TEs we've had recently. Mertz looked really good initially, so I'm guessing the last couple years wasn't so much about his arm talent as it was the talent around him.
  15. Do I marinate that tough piece of meat or smoke it low and slow?
  16. Context was "stronger, better and more skilled" than as freshman, which he did significantly a sophomore. Can't blame Gard because he jumped to the NBA before becoming an "upperclassman" (or maybe Gard developed him too well?). Clearly JD must be included in Gard's development dossier.
  17. Anders Carlson - His FG was a bit "odd" and I've seen some comments about a bad snap. His timing was certainly not there as it looked like he kicked it with a "half-leg" What did everyone else see? Carlson vs Crosby; who is better is pointless. At Crosby's age and cost, we are better off rebooting (pun intended). Carlson's brother had a few rough years with the Vikings before settling in at a high level. For his kickoffs, I'd have to imagine the short kickoff is intentional. Yes, players can fair catch it, but they rarely do. And most of the time they've kicked it high and short, the other team doesn't make the 25. So it seems like they handle it the right way.
  18. Interesting game... The Chargers really beat themselves out there, but our offense's best game in a long time. Love: Clearly his best game and putting together back-to-back good games. Had a few high throws, but clearly out-played Herbert. His pocket presence took a step back as he seemed to be oblivious to a number of rushers out there. Something he didn't struggle with previously. Reed - Anyone lamenting the draft pick now? We need to start featuring the guy. Kind of looking like a Justin Jefferson-lite player. Wicks - Really surprising ascent for Wicks. Love to see it. Doubs/Watson - well, they catch TDs... Actually Doubs had a good overall day. Watson ran fast. Kraft - hey! Nice to see a spark for the guy. Musgrave - Continued growth for the young man. Good blocking, good routes, good receiving. I'm excited. Yosh Nijman-what happened? Who turned your feet to concrete? CBs - Our young CBs are really holding up better than I thought they could. Ballentine wasn't great, but he is what... our 6th string CB at the beginning of the season? Nixon had a strong game too. Defense - Otherwise, our best defenders were the sun and the field. A very bend, but don't break day, but they had a lot of help on "don't break".
  19. Johnny Davis says "hi". 😉 Ironically JD could be the best NBA player Ryan or Gard ever had. Bronson Koenig was a bit of a cross-over from Ryan to Gard who kept getting better. Brad Davison kept getting better each year. Ethan Happ (except for FTs). We just don't get high ceiling players so they develop up to a certain point and then plateau. Seeing someone peak their junior year and not progress their senior year seems pretty common with our players.
  20. Yeah, i can't say much about the intent of what they are doing...., but what I saw was that one guard (the one on the opposite side of the "jump" was completely free to go to the second level. And often, a pulling player (TE, FB, G, whatever) following them in the hole. Not sure we are telegraphing our plays (hello Jim Harbaugh!) or what... but they were consistently getting the gap and it was WIDE open. I could've read and ran through that. Then it was clear they adjusted to not do these jump cuts in the second half and it was a stark difference. I don't think Berry was outcoached this time... I think he outplayed himself. We went back to "simple" and did much better.
  21. Nearly every time I eat at Bluemound, the custard is half melted. Not sure what the deal is with that one... Rarely have I had that at the others. Most the time, it has been excellent. As a college student, I rarely left anything to melt. 😂
  22. Fair enough. Misread Joe's start date. Dusty Baker - 73 at the time. Started as a HC in 1993 when he was 43. Looks like I'm not the only one assuming Weeks is heir to the throne: https://dairylandexpress.com/2023/11/16/former-player-eventually-manage-milwaukee-brewers/ No matter what direction the team decides to go, Murphy is probably not going to manage the Milwaukee Brewers for the next decade with the title given to Weeks. He is being groomed for the job, and once the club’s leadership feels he is ready to take over, Murphy will probably be given a new title like manager-emeritus.
