  1. TE is the one area I hope we double dip - draft+FA. We won't have much room to add expensive FAs, but this is probably the best area to use what we have. Hooper is a FA and we went after him in a trade, so perhaps he is a target. Maybe a tR(odgers)ade with LV to bring back Waller? I wouldn't want to see a first/second round TE draft. Maybe like last year's WR - 2nd and 4th or a 1st and 6th. But bringing in a vet plus a high draft pick makes more sense.
  2. Maybe if the hip surgery is successful, he can play safety for us next year. 😂
  3. Yeah, we are assuming different opt out dates, but your assumption is true then it is possible they do that. Frankly, I hadn't thought about an opt-out in ST, but that is possible.
  4. Why add him to the 40 man in mid March only to send him to the minors? He is on a minor league deal right now. They can send him to the minors until his contract opt out date (i.e. often June 1). 40 man roster spots are gold. You don't add someone until you need to.
  5. Without looking, I'd guess he has enough service time to decline an option. However... he signed a minor league deal. He isn't on the 40 man roster, so options are a moot point. I don't disagree that the bar is low and this is a good situation for him (probably better than his other options). But if you are a GM and have the option to keep 3 players (Tellez, Huira, Voit) or cut one of Tellez/Huira just to put someone in that isn't a clear upgrade... why would you cut one? Now, when Voit's opt-out clause comes on his minor league deal (I'd bet $$ he has one), now you have a more interesting discussion of which of the two you want to keep. But I really doubt management is going to make the decision prematurely... unless a trade/injury forces it. The opening day decision in this case isn't so much about "who is better" but what gives us more flexibility.
  6. I really doubt Voit makes the MLB roster merely based on a "hot spring training". He is on a MiLB contract and we are using him as depth. If someone is hurt or traded in ST, then Voit makes the OD roster.
  7. When it was clear that LambeauLeap.net was dying, I tried a couple other forums. The experience was so awful compared to BF.net that I lobbied to have a dedicated "Other Sports" section created to separate Packers, Badgers, and Bucks stuff from the "Off Topic" section. Having a little among contentment is better than a lot amongst great angst.
  8. The world may never no...
  9. How to address our safety issue.... 1) I'm sure there will be a draft pick...but there is another forum for that. 2) I have a feeling we extend Amos. Not because of his play... but more because his cap hit can be reduced be resigning him. If he comes back at a reduced 2 year, I wouldn't mind. 3) Move Rasul Douglas to safety. I think he actually would be better there. Plus Stokes return and it doesn't seem any of Alexander, Stokes, and Douglas aren't very suited for slot CB. Seems like Savage played better in the slot. 4) Resign Ford. 5) Sign another FA. I'm hoping #1 is a given. #4 is probably fairly likely. #3 would probably be a fall-back option, but I still think it might be best one.
  10. Especially with all the spelling and grammar checking tools out there. Some of the basics missed is appauling.
  11. Oh, I know it is about the clicks, but even the article titles are so bad it isn't even enticing. But it goes beyond the normal writers too. I see them on FB feeds for groups that follow WI sports. People proudly post their sim draft and say, "Look at who the Packers got!!!" I think this might actually make it worse for the GMs because people think that is all it takes to get Player X. Well, I moved up and took the #1 player on the board, why couldn't Gute???
  12. The draft sim tools that have come out in the last couple years are really cool.... but the articles on every Tom, Dick, and Harry's simluated drafts are getting ridiculous. I even saw one article that blasted Gute because he could potentially do this draft the author did.... Really??? This is what "jounalism" has come to?
  13. Kevin Love has some buzz. Would be similar to Bobby P type player, but a bit shorter. Seems like they could use another big after Ibaka is gone. Not sure Kevin is exactly that, but if Bobby is out much longer he might make sense.
  14. Yes, I was having the same thought. They don't look like they are trying that hard but they are still winning regularly. Obviously, they need some time to get Mids back in the flow fully and JC back in shape and fitting into the team, but you hope this is them on cruise control rather than their "new norm".
  15. Squeaking one out against Boston without 4 starters was a bit annoying. But they had several guys go off and have huge unexpected games, too. Yeah, I was wondering about how that wasn't a foul on White. He came from behind, didn't get near the basketball and clearly hit him across the body while in mid air. A little harder and he could've easily taken Jrue's feet out from underneath and causing him to land hard.
  16. Holy double posting batman! Seems like a systemic issue here! But for the article, it would've been good to note how many groundballs the Brewers also incur on defense compared to others. Seems like we have a pretty high-K rate group so there are simply fewer GBs to go around. Especially if Houser ends up in the pen this year.
  17. I thought Stapleton started oddly... almost like a mike failure or just too low? He did better at the end, but I can't say it was stunning. Frankly, I was left wondering if there was more to the backstory of Sirianni than just being moved by the song. And at halftime, we ate supper and watched something else. Then turned the game back on at the end to see how it finished. I don't waste 3 hours on a non-Packer game.
  18. I can't remember the last half time show I've watched or even cared about. They should just give it up to America's Got Talent. Simon would be more interesting.
  19. It was a hold. There was a pretty strong grab a the point of his pivot and his hand was on the waist for a bit after, which clearly slowed his progression out of the cut and into the route. Not an egregious call, but pretty clear none the less, IMO. I doubt the call changed much either. Commercials were pretty blah too. The menopause one was really odd... I wouldn't expect to see that as a SB commercial (cost and audience). It kind of reminded me about the Pandora ad where the party is going on and the music is interrupted by a constipation commercial (thus encouraging you to buy the Pandora service so ads don't ruin the mood). 😂 Ben Stiller and Pepsi zero won the day, IMO. I was hoping more out of Tony Romo as Carl the Caddyshack groundskeeper.
  20. My college years would've been much more fulfilling after moving to Milwaukee and actually seeing some games... if Molly had been there. Would've been great to have him on the team when Yount hit his 3000th, too.
  21. I'm not sure how I romaticized it... You basically described the same thing. He sat out at the 3pt land and shot well enough to keep someone had to stay out with him. He didn't need the ball in his hands and made room for GIannis by keeping one defender from collapsing or capitolizing when they did. I never said he was better offensively than Crowder...but he plays more in the same space as Giannis. Thus, Tucker being the better fit. Tucker's 39% 3pt range might only be better than Crowder by 4%, but his offense as a whole is different. I still think it is an interesting fit. He can D-up Tatum and other wings. Would be interesting if we meet Phoenix in the finals...
  22. Tucker was the perfect fit for the Bucks. Played D on almost anyone and on offense, was an excellent 3pt shooter that barely left 3pt land... so it let the rest of the team play 4 on 4, which opens things for Giannis. Crowder isn't the 3pt shooter that Tucker is (not on average anyway). It will be interesting. Lots of interesting names on the potential buyout list...maybe more interesting than I thought.
  23. I'm not sure I'd pretend the cupboard was bare and Rodgers just carried a 4-13 team to the playoffs every year. Obviously, late TT drafting was bad. But I thought Gute did really well in rebound. Signing Amos, 2 Smiths, and Turner that one year were all good and smart signings. He has had some "ok" drafts and some good drafts. If he'd have been able to work with the Pack on Rodger's second contract (not the rookie, not the millstone that we have lately), I think he'd have done really well.
