  1. I had originally quoted and highlighted this comment: Seems like his emotions were just running high, lot of adrenaline. If that was all it took to justify it, no one would ever be convicted of of anything. I guess I don't get people justifying what he did. Was it malicious? No. Is this normal behavior for him? No (as far as his public appearances have been in the past anyway). But that doesn't make what he did right. I can't see a lawsuit gaining much, but there is a reason there are laws against it.
  2. Why? Maybe the guy was uninjured... but what if he cracked his head open on the ground. Would that make what Dante did worse? What he didn't wasn't an accident and it was certainly unwarranted.
  3. That doesn't make it "OK" to assault someone...
  4. I saw ESPN propose Claypool+7th rounder for Amari Rodgers+4th rounder. I couldn't do that trade fast enough... ? Except maybe give away a 3rd rounder instead of a 4th...
  5. I seem to remember that Chryst's recruiting was blasted at Pitt also, but coming over it was assumed that was because it was PItt and WI would be better. I guess not. Poor Chez... Transfers to WI to be the #1, gets passed by a rookie, loses half the season to injury, returns, starts doing well and lost for half the season again. Perhaps he needs another "e" in this name.
  6. Ironically, I thought the biggest problem Rodgers had was simply in forcing the ball down field too much and in succession. Hitting Cobb a lot was fine...because he was open and often made for big plays. It bothered (or still bothers?) me how he forced the ball to Adams in last year's playoff game because he often wasn't open and rarely made a big play (often incomplete or tackled immediately). But I see what happened with Cobb as a completely different (and more positive) outcome by comparison. The RPO passes vs runs is challenging... It worked great with Doubs against the Patriots. But we clearly stopped using Jones (again) last week. Balance is the obvious need as Rodgers seems to get compulsive about his options and gets unidirectional.
  7. Yes, I agree with willingness to draft and develop high draft picks - Gary being example #1. Wyatt looks like he is going that route. Even Watson is going to be that to some extent with them taking him slowly in to the route tree (granted, missing TC is a big part of that too). Honestly, I thought Newman started a couple games in myself...until I went to look. I forgot he was a day 1 starter.
  8. Oh, I didn't mean the coach had to sign up today... I was speaking more about the media's approach. I figured JL would be option #1, #2, AND #3. Many articles written have him around #3 or #4. Not that I know much about the rest of the candidates, but an up and coming DC that has interviewed for other positions and is a WI-guy... seems like a slam dunk.
  9. Aren't early morning ramblings fun? ? Obviously Caleb's situation could be anything from serious to minor...and we won't know. If I were a betting man, I'd say it is something weight related though. Just because he lost weight doesn't mean he has established the willpower to keep it off. Maybe we are "gaming the system" and sending him to weight watchers* to work on conditioning/weight loss or dealing with issues like that. *not actual WW, but an internal program like it.
  10. Newman also started day 1. He wasn't given it like Myers and won it in TC, but he was the RG starter on game 1. Jenkins started on game 3. They clearly don't have an issue starting rookies when they outplay those in front of them. In MLF's first 3 years coaching, they had 3 rookie OL starting. So the evidence doesn't show them being slightly resistant to starting rookie OL let alone "VERY" resistant. It is no surprise that Rhyan isn't sniffing the starting lineup because he couldn't even get any #1 reps while rotating in TC practice. Clearly he has some things to work on. But Tom is a bit more of a surprise as he got quite a few #1 reps, held his own in Game 1, and seems like he could upgrade our RG position.
  11. Yeah, I spoke too soon. Still happening here. Seems to be fine for a while, but now reverted back... no idea..
  12. I saw that Leonhard became interim HC, I thought it was pretty natural transition. But it seems that the media doesn't seem to think he is locked in to stay the HC next year. What do you think his odds are?
  13. Strange statement since Bakh, Myers, Newman, and Jenkins all started as rookies. The last three were rookies under this administration.
  14. So while I (and all of us) was hoping for an easy win yesterday and disappointed to see it so close to a 3rd string QB... I'm actually not that disappointed We won. Any given Sunday... Rodgers clearly struggled in the first half. He looked better later, but it wasn't his best day. Progress continues to be made between Rodgers and his WRs. He is starting to look comfortable with Doubs now. Lazard looks better after his foot injury. Bahk/Jenkins injury recovery has them not at 100% (esp Jenkins). Defense is improving. Still inconsistent, but trending up. Some backup players put in solid performances - Ford at safety, Nixon at CB. I guess I see the game as a trap game where we didn't play our best and still came out with a victory. And frankly... Zappe played really well. He has a nice arm and made some really good throws. I can see why they kept 3 QBs on the roster.
  15. I read somewhere that lateral movement is the last part of the ACL recovery...not sure if that is true or a cover for Jenkins. Regardless, he doesn't have it now and isn't starting quality RT. He was ProBowl level G before becoming a very good LT/RT and his run blocking is still highly graded, so moving him inside seems like a no-brainer (at least for now). Moving him to RG should help Myers' consistency too. I can't imagine Yosh should struggle at RT too much. That was his college position.
  16. I've seen Myers miss some blocks - especially reach blocks. But I'm guessing it is more about consistency. He hasn't even started a full year yet. There are also plenty of good runs where he is making key blocks. Moving Jenkins inside is certainly necessary for now. Wow was his lateral movement limited on pass blocks. Still needs time in recovery. But Jenkins+Yiman > Newman+Jenkins anyway.
  17. Maybe I should say... I'm not surprised that the Packers continue to use him just like before (given his size/speed), but with Rodger's talking about Lazard being the #1 WR, I was surprised to see Doubs get so many balls early. It took some time before Lazard showed up...granted at very key points when he did - like usual.
  18. I went back a little further and was thinking Robert Brooks. Granted wearing #87 probably triggered it, but he looks the part a bit too. Granted 2" taller and 20lbs heavier, but visually it looks the same. I love to see him have a bit of a break-out game, but a bit surprising with Lazard on the field. But Doubs just gets open...loving the late round pick! Bahk looked pretty good out there. Hopefully he can continue to go the right direction and ramp up to full time. Nice to see the team rounding into shape (physically and metaphorically).
  19. Yes, Wait and see. The report I read said that he needed to be ok after the flight and warm-ups. Honestly.... that didn't give me much confidence if it that was all it took to have him sit again.
  20. To be fair, I think they expected to get one starting WR out of Watkins and Cobb combined. Getting two starts a the same time was just a bonus..
  21. Maybe I'm off on overall numbers exactly (frankly, I don't pay attention to players on other teams nor what $$ they get). But the point I was intending to get across was that I think he is in a situation very close to Z-Smith when we poached him from Baltimore. We agree that he is already an average NFL LT and has been improving. He is also has great size and athleticism. Someone is going to pony up some money to poach him. Maybe not $15M/year, but certainly more than $6M/yr (the same money as a 1st round tender). His agent would be foolish to sign him for backup money at 3 years and the Packers would be foolish to sign him to starter money but keep him as a backup. How Bahk comes back this year (and/or if Jenkins at RG and Yosh at RT works better than our current RG/RT) will determine what the Pack do with Yosh long term.
  22. They changed the PUP rules. Leaving Bakh on the PUP means he would miss a minimum of 4 games. First round tender for an RFA is about $5.5M and second round at $4M (this year's numbers). He isn't going to sign for 3/$18M. He's going to get something like Zadarius Smith got from us when he was an ascending backup with Baltimore (4 years $66M). So let's say $5M next year (RFA) and $15M for 3 years? 4 years $50M... you don't pay that out to sit on a bench. If Bakh retires maybe... I doubt it otherwise.
  23. Jaire's return does throw some "newness" back into how they played before. Douglas in a new position and Jaire is pretty new to the system just because he was hurt early last year. Not saying I don't think the D should be able to do it right now, but maybe one reason why they didn't try it. Get the defense humming smoothly before trying to do something more complicated.
  24. I was going to post that this still happens to me everytime I hit "Next" at the bottom. After reading comments here, I tried to reproduce the issue on my phone. I was about 50% on the failure rate. Then I came back to my PC to try it a couple ways...and I don't have the issue anymore. Went back to the phone it is working there too... Not sure if you changed something today, but it seems better for me.
  25. Dear Vikings, Welcome back to Earth. Sincerely, The NFL 17 game season
